Don't forget to take notes! These instruments ALL look the same when I first saw them when I was a student BUT they don't! Giving the wrong instrument during a crucial moment is no bueno. I have been yelled at before by doing that.

The structure that connects the Bladder blade is called the Balfour Self retaining retractor, it has 7 pieces that must all be accounted for.

For the knife handles did you call them needle holders?
My bad, I was thinking ahead. They're called knife handles and you use a needle drivers to load it.
It’s all good. For the smaller knife handle that’s a number three it can hold blades 10 through 15. A number 10 blade is your standard blade use for incisions a number 15 looks like a number 10 but much smaller and use for fine cutting the number 11 blade is a spear tip i’ve seen this used in a variety of ways, but pretty much anything that needs to be punctured. The number 12 blade is hooked I have seen it used in ENT cases it’s used to cut tissue at weird angles with a scraping motion. The number 13 blade if I would compare it to pocket knives, it would be kind of shaped like a drop point blade. It’s not commonly used. I’ve probably seen it once or twice, I honestly can see a variety of ways it can be implemented not sure why it isn’t used often. And lastly, the blade that I’ve never used in my time as a surgical tech is the number 14 Blade it kinda looks rounded off It sort of resembles a bread, knife without serration. all of these types of blades 10 through 15 can be used on a number three knife handle, which is the smaller one in the video. larger handle is called the number 4. That pretty is seldom used. last time I’ve seen that used was during certain crash C-sections we need to cut open the skin quickly and make Deeper cuts. But most surgeons stick with the number 10 blade on a number three knife handle.
I think you’re doing a great job with these videos because a lot of surgical technologist that are new really want to familiarize themselves with instrumentation and how to drape certain things and even though you go through it in clinicals, I think probably them most nerve-racking moment will be your first day on the real job and you’re expected to know a lot. You will get trained on hospital policies, but they expect you to know your core job role. Keep up with the videos and great job! ❤

I don’t think that’s a kelly since kelly have half way serrations. That will be called Rochester pean/mayo clamp, different facilities will call it a different name.
I know it's a pean but doctors call everything Kelly's lol everything bigger than a hemostat is a Kelly to them. So when I hear peans, I know they're new lol 😆
