En mi opinion es el jugador mas completo que e visto en el futbol. Lo tenia todo. Goles de cabeza, saltaba a otro nivel, como si fuera un jugador de la NBA. goles con la pierna derecha, con la izquierda, visión de campo, invento jugadas, goles de tiro libres de todas las formas posibles, lider y cargaba el equipo, pases, recepción como si tubiera una almuada en el pecho y remataba por ahí mismo y gol, era tactico para jugar y bravo para jugar porque con lo que le pegarón ni hablar y eso que jugo en un futbol donde no habia tarjetas amarilla ni rojas, los tacos de ese tiempo y el uniforme lo que pesaba cuando llovia, las vitaminas y la ciencia deportiva de ese momento no es la misma de este tiempo, la verdad que un verdadero fuera de serie.

I was 3 years old and vividly remember my dad going absolutely crazy with joy watching Pele play in the 1970 world cup. Our TV was a colour one and I remember seeing those bright yellow Brazilian Jerseys. Didn't understand why or who my dad was jumping up and down for but I knew it had something to do with those yellow jerseys. He is with no question the GOAT! Everything we see Maradona, Messi, Christian Ronaldo, do with the ball or anybody else one can care to mention, Pele had already done it, he's cannot be compared, he is the most complete football player ever and there hasn't been one so complete since. Rest in peace King and thankyou for making my dad so happy and in awe of your skills!

Además Pele no fue protegido de los golpes de los defensas como lo han protegido a Messi, ya que antes no existian las tarjetas amarillas ni tarjetas rojas. A Pele lo golpeaban con patadas y a pesar de eso seguia jugando, en cambio con Messi los defensas lo marcan con fair play porque tienen miedo a las tarjetas rojas o amarillas.

PELE WAS THE BEST
1. He could score with either leg. He scored over 1,000 goals, goals of all types, colors and shapes. From outside the box, inside the box, volleys, scissor kicks, diving headers, soft, hard, over the goalie's reach, upper corner, lower corner. You think of it, he did it.
2. He was excepcional with headers. He would usually out jump taller defenders. He was like a fish in midair, able to get higher once he jumped. Observe carefully his header-goal against Italy in the finals of the World Cup México 1970.
3. Physically, he was impecable. Strong, fast, quick, powerful, with remarkable endurance.
4. Technically, Pelé was masterful. His control was awe inspiring. Pelé made it look easy, natural, joyous. He could dribble past a cloud of defenders like a hot knife through butter.
5. Tactically, Pelé had no flaws. He would move knowingly on the field, commanding his teammates, understanding where they would be, occupying spaces, opening the game as needed. Watch him control and blindingly pass the ball to Carlos Alberto for Brazil's fourth goal in the final against Italy in the World Cup México 1970. Simply delicious!
6. He was courageous. Most of the time, when he stepped on the field, Pelé was a marked man. Teams would have their top defender shadow him constantly. He played most of his career without the benefit of the disciplinary cards, they were instituted in 1970, Pelé's last World Cup. The referee's "culture" of the time, allow for much more rough play. Pelé learn to defend himself against tough defenders and never backed down.
7. Pelé played on fields that were not the best by today's standards. The ball would bounce here an there, responding to the unevenness and holes on the field. It was much more difficult to make a good pass, much more difficult to control the ball and yet, Pelé shone with the light of a genius.
8. Pelé won many national titles, international titles and the World Cup three times. He is still today the youngest player to play in a World Cup final (17 years old at Sweden 1958) and score (two goals).
9. Finally, Pelé was FIFA's best ambassador of the game. An example for the youth of the future and most decent human being. And who could beat that smile?

Lima was all up in a buzz as the news spread like wild fire about the arrival of Santos of Brazil with Pelé. Santos was going to play against Alianza Lima the Peruvian champion. The excitement increased as Alianza announced the hiring of an Uruguayan defender named Souza just for the match. Souza's job, of course, was to shadow Pelé all game long. Alianza paid Souza the enormous amount (in those days) of $500 dollars just for the one game, all other expenses (travel, stay, etc.) covered. It was summer, so the game was going to be played at night at the "Estadio Nacional." As the game progressed, Souza, a tall, black, strong and agile player was doing a very good job of shadowing Pelé. Souza, being from Uruguay, was schooled in the ways and manners of their style of play. That is, all nonsense and as rough as the referee would allow and more.
It was almost half time, Pelé was next to the touch line near midfield watching his goalie kick the ball long and high. As the ball fell towards him, Pelé smoothly chess trapped it and allow it to roll down onto the field in front of him. Souza jumped on the ball but Pelé was first. With his back towards Souza, Pelé heeled the short bounce of the ball over Souza's head. Fast as lightening, Pelé turned around, his eyes riveted on the ball as it was falling down passed Souza. He quickly realized that Villanueva, Alianza's goalkeeper, about forty meters away, was way out of his line. In a flash, Pelé volley the ball. It described a laser like parabola over the surprised humanity of Villanueva and into the back of the net! It was magnificent! Extraordinary! Amazing! An instant hush fell all over the stadium, as if all those human minds needed time to really process and accept was they had just witnessed. And then, then, everybody stood up and applauded and applauded and applauded. I still can hear them.
Father, may you rest in peace, thank you for taking me that night to the stadium. Your loving son, always.

Esses gols chamados de amistosos é uma forma de diminuir o Rei, pois o Santos era muito bem pago nesses jogos. Se é profissional, se houve pagamento, então os gols são válidos, são legítimos, são legais, são verdadeiros.
O Rei Pelé nos períodos desses jogos, chegava a disputar 5 partidas por semana. Isso foi muito desgastante.
O Santos deixou de disputar 3 libertadores porque o dinheiro dessas partidas internacionais, contra grandes clubes e seleções da Europa eram mais rentáveis. O Santos precisava dessas rendas para segurar 8 jogadores tops da época, inclusive o maior de todos os tempos.

These are just a few thoughts and facts of my own to add to the many outpourings of love and appreciation to the man who first described the game we love so much as... "THE BEAUTIFUL GAME"
As well as being only seventeen during the 1958 world cup, Pele did not play in any of the group stage games because he was recovering from a pre-tournament injury, yet he ended up being the tournament's second-top goalscorer with a total of 6 goals.
In other words, all his goals were scored during the business end of the tournament (the knockout stage) and breakdown as follows...
His first goal was scored in the quarter-final (the winning goal), he then score a hat trick in the semi-finals against France, and two more goals in the World Cup final against tournament host Sweden.
Think about it, 6 goals in the 3 most important games of his 17-year-old life (and the 3 most important games every professional footballer dreams of getting a chance to play in (wow!!).
A SIDE NOTE: I was a little bit disappointed that nobody appeared to notice the trivial but nonetheless very interesting fact about a particular game featured in the recent 2022 World Cup...
There was an awful lot of fanfare surrounding the Wales vs USA matchup, because it was the first time Wales were to play in a World Cup finals competition since 1958, when they suffered a hard-fought 1- 0 defeat to Brazil at the quarterfinal stage.
And who do you think scored the single solitary goal?... yes you guess it, Pele!!
Pele's very first game (and goal) in the 1958 World Cup would prove to be Wales's last world cup game for next 68 years. And as fate would have it, Pele would get to witness their return just before he died.
Brazil was just another country in 1958, with no name or reputation to speak of on the world stage. By 1970 (just 12 years and 3 world Cups wins later) it was known and celebrated, by one and all that Brazil was the best, most important footballing nation in the world. A reputation responsible for enriched the Brazilian nation with billions of Dollars in football-related trade and sponsorships. I doubt that anyone has had more of an impact on his countries reputation/economic situation in such a short space of time.
Neymar's response to Pele's passing was to point out another very simple fact, "Before Pele, the number 10 was just a number"
There are lots more facts that could be added such as Pele only played 12 years for the Brazilian national team, the world cup winning years (1958 to 1970) and that his club side Santos won 27 trophies during Pele's time (1957-74), having won only 1 trophy before and none for the 28 years after he retired. Santos is the biggest name in Brazilian football with one of the smallest stadiums (holds less than 20 thousand), this is because it is and always has been a small town club, that Pele put on the map and made big in the eyes of the world.
BUT WHO IS THE GREATEST FOOTBALLER OF ALL TIME????????...
Ok, I think we can tidy up that discussion as well....

.. but everyone knows that Muhammad Ali is the GREATEST!!
And yes there is also much room to debate who is the best footballer of all time, but the case as stated here, and the beautiful history of the beautiful game, should leave no doubt as to who is its GREATEST...
