He absolutely _dismantled_ The Old Course that year. Didn't end up in a single bunker the entire weekend. It was one of the most clinical displays of golf ever seen. A course that demands patience and precision.

@@shawnenglish9815 I think he said a couple times he got lucky. I've always believed you engineer your own luck. He clearly hit enough shots well enough that not even his bad ones had high chances to go in!

@@Real28 He was joking about the luck. The man won by 8 shots...4 bunkers wouldn't have derailed him. I believe you are talking about being lucky that he didn't get into a bunker...all week, not all weekend. Just to edit your "alternative fact."
@@aaronsmith7946 to play 18 holes at the Old Course and not land in a bunker requires considerable skill and likely some luck. For 72 holes it would seem unbelievable, but there it is. This and his Pebble Beach massacre are why I put him at #1. Not that I don't love Jack and Ben, but prime Tiger had fewer flaws in his game than anyone.
These young kids will never believe how dominant he was. The greatest to ever do it.

Great to see this footage in improved quality. Previously uploads have been from the raw broadcast +20 years ago. Also pretty funny that the official name of the tournament seen in the TV broadcast was "The 129th British Open Sponsored by Mastercard".
That was only used on the American telecast, the R&A let ABC sell a presenting sponsorship from 1999-2002, being branded as the “British Open presented by MasterCard”.
In 2004 the R&A started requiring ABC to refer to it as “The Open Championship” and also prohibited future presenting sponsors.
I absolutely adored his golf in this tournament ! It had everything that goat had to offer ! What a treat to watch this !

I love the 2000 swing. He stayed taller through the downswing, none of that squat and jumping at it and let the arms win the race allowing him to keep from getting stuck.
