He cleansed my mind on for-profit charities and the problems faced by non-profits, which led me to launch my initiative as a Social Enterprise 😊 I'm glad he crossed my path and can't wait to watch this !
Why is this not available to watch anymore? Stream for free until December last year and then not at all? Why can't I pay a couple bucks to watch this somewhere?
I attended the world premiere in Toronto on September 6 and it truly changed my outlook on charities. I am finally working for a charity to really focus on making an impact in the world (most cannot pay what I am worth) and I want everyone in the world to watch this movie - it is truly an important visionary documentary.,
In which charity do you work? Surely something in connection with Effective Altruism.
I would love to stream this!
Just saw this tonight, it was extremely well done. Definitely worth watching!
Looking forward to seeing the movie. Too bad it is not being shown in Washington DC. Ground Zero for American non-profit institutions.
We would love to show it there. We are doing screenings there. Please reach out on our website.
Dear creators!
I would love to add subtitles to this trailer video in my language, Hungarian. Is there a way I could help with it?
Excited to see this too! Reminds me of a lot of the themes of our Netflix doc "Living on One Dollar"
I look forward to watching this. I hope it covers salaries of those on top and how much money actually trickles down to those in need.
You can explore each charity to get that information. You dont need this movie. Guidestar and others can help as a primer, and directly requesting financials is the best way.
I think what matters is how much money they raise, especially compared to other charities with lower overheads. It takes money and talent to raise money.
Why is Scott Harrison in this??? He's one of the biggest reasons people think nonprofits don't need overhead!!!
That's a great question! You should probably watch it because it answers this in depth.
When will this come to Florida?
I will watch this with guarded optimism. Yes charities might be held back by rules, but there are too many instances where charities do fail and the very people running them get overwhelmed by greed. I just hope this movie covers both sides of the spectrum.
Perfect example ... why isn't this documentary free? There is no where online to watch it. So I have to pay to go to a theater and it is only showing in select cities ... LOL.
So excited
better idea: ask about BOTH!
I don't distrust most charities. I just don't have much left after I donate to the government.
:Donate"? I think you mean pay taxes. I get it. It stinks. But this is a very expensive country to run. If you like, look at where most of your taxes go. There is an office of management and Budget in DC and they are non partisan.
I'm guessing we're not going to get two sides of the conversation here. You can't brush over the misappropriation of funds that plague so many "charitable" organizations.
What a bunch of horse crap.
