- It is finally here! The build guide for my fully 3D printed hovercraft. After many long months of hard work and through many revisions, I am now happy to release this video.
This is a large speedy and nimble hovercraft that is relatively easy to print, with next to no support material (≈50g of support). All parts are made so they can be printed on an Ender 3 or simular sized printer. The hovercraft is 580mm long, and 280mm wide, both drive motors are mounted on servos which gives the hovercraft great steering authority.
Materials
1,5kg PLA
1x 70mm EDF (FMS 70mm 12-Blades Ducted Fan)

Sweet build!
I would recommend swapping the EDF for a small propeller. EDFs have very poor static thrust performance, this using a propellor is likely to result in lower power consumption for the same lift.
Awesome build! Well done!
Very nice print and video. Thank you.
This is very well build video, thanks a lot
Printing my first pieces now! Thanks for the build video!
Glad that you like it! Good luck with the build.
nicely done
Pretty cool video bro, good luck
Genuis build best design i have seen and solution to the skirt problems that plague other builds. Seems so simple really its crazy. you earned a sub from me great job.
Thanks! I really think this skirt design can be revolutionary when it comes to 3D-printed RC hovercrafts =)
Let's viral #trend
are you going to make a video for the electronics setup and callibration? also what controllor did you use
I was not planning on doing that, but if there is interest I can do it.
I have a very overkill controller, it's a Futaba T14SG, and I also have a Futaba T6J which is a bit more simple and cheaper controller.
@@SnowGubbe3D ok thank you for the controller I was mostly wondering what type of controllor like if it was a dual joystick or if it was a rc car controller becuase I was thinking of making it but using a dumbo radio. anyway if you ever have time or want to make a video for the electronics setup and bind I would love to see it. Keep up the great work.
I like it a lot but I would love to see a slightly smaller version, the front part takes up to a full day to print on my Prusa MK3S+..yikes! and I have to cut a portion of the front nose so it fits in the print area. A small version would be awesome.
I keept the buildvolume of an Ender 3 (because I thought it was smaller than a Pruse I3) in mind when designing, and very late in to designing it a collage made me aware that Prusa I3 printers has a lower build heigth that an Ender 3... And at that point it was way to late to make that change. But I will not make this mistake ever again, and making it a little bit shorter is one thing thats on my list of things I want to change. But I also think it's easy enough to split it to make it fit. If I don't miss remember the split plane needs to be a little bit in front of the EDF, and that should work fine.
Hi, I am good thanks, and you? I was wondering if you give me the original CAD file for the hovercraft, please, so that I could make changes to the design without having to cut chunks out and remake whole sections just to make small changes.
Hi, I am good, thank you!
I don't know if it will be that much easier in the original CAD, there is almost 100 sketches, 22 reference planes and a bit over 300 features... And if a feature in the beginning is changes there is a big risk that a bunch of other stuff later breaks.
I think if it's just a small change it will most likely be easier to start cutting in the STEP-file.
My hovercraft is full of eels!
Why do you keep your eels in a hovercraft?
what did u say addnorth is from? its a swedish brand..not Schweiz..thats a whole other coutry...
Maybe my pronunciation wasn't the best, but I said Swedish. English is not my first language, Swedish is. I know Schweiz is a different country...
Who is the artist for the music used? Great project!
Thanks! The song is Ruthless by NEFFEX
Really impressed by this hovercraft!! Would like to collab with you, just wondering what's the best way to get in touch? Thanks! Sienna from PCBWay.🤗
Thanks for the kind words =)
