Famed Southern California chapel to be deconstructed as land continues to shift

- Months after Wayfarers Chapel was closed indefinitely due to unprecedented shifting of the ground below it, the church’s leadership team has announced plans to disassemble the iconic California landmark.

Thats so sad. This chapel was, in a way, part of my growing up years. I have many fond memories of this chapel growing up in the SoCal area. Even though, I was born in Torrance, my home was in Palos Verde. But, never thought this would have happened. I knew of the Portuguese Bend slides. That was just normal for that area. I agree with them dismantling the chapel and storing it for a more stable area.
Very nice the building won't be destroyed.
That is quite an undertaking. But that chapel is fabulous! Too bad about all the damage it has sustained.

Marine Land was right on the bluff .The land under Marine Land shifted and they sadly had to close.and dismantle. It rivaled SeaWorld in San Diego. They should have left that land open space . Instead they built houses , knowing the land would eventually give way Greedy developers. .
Greedy developers are worse than Illinois Nazis.
