- Shifted Load of TOILETS Almost Flips Container! Oh look, the rare shifted load in a container! Just kidding, we do these practically twice a week. These guys sure do keep us busy. This one was called in by CHP (California Highway Patrol), so I smashed out in my 50ton Rotator, Hulk, followed by Alex in Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator. We were also joined by Joe in our Landoll to transport the container.
The reason we use the rotators to lift the container off the chassis and onto our Landoll, is because the Landoll allows us to safely transport even a heavily shifted container. Often times these containers are improperly loaded, so it's not always possible to recorrect the shift by using the rotators and leaning the container. On top of that, you risk damaging the load this way and in this case, the load was toilets!
Once we got the container off and loaded onto the Landoll, we drove about 10 minutes away to the customer's yard. There was a slight issue regarding payment which was mainly due to a large language barrier. Everything got situated after all and the container was offloaded using a huge top loader style container forklift.

That giant forklift wouldn't even fit on most of the sites that Pepe's works. It would need 3 or 4 lanes at least.

Saw a shifted(ing) huge load of wrapped plywood, I'm guessing, as it rounded me to the left and then a quick right turn. Scared the crap outta me! The top of the stacks were all way over the bed edge. IF I'da had a cell phone I'da called it in. Instead, I just prayed knowing the road he was taking. Canadian on Hwy 9 coming out of Sumas heading south in Wa state. Hopefully he looked out his mirrors and stopped ahead of accident.

Watch this video reminded me hotel ordered the wrong toilets and they filled six 10 x 30 storage units 1800 toilets and sinks then never paid the bill. One of the best scores but what a backbreaker.

Ive picked up shifted loads at the rail before. Icalled the boss and sent him a picture the telehandler had the pins in the highside and the low side was COMPLETELY out of the pocket.
A 20 ft standard on a 40ft ctri axle combo chassis. Boss called and said GET IT OFF MY TRUCK!!!

many years ago i was at an intersection and there was one of those huge container forklifts there as a crew removed the traffic lights and power lines so the forklift could get through. they were moving it from one yard to another a mile away. the things are super huge.

Language barrier: consequence of the fact people don't want to pay their truck drivers.
Containers usually don’t use pallets. They are packed solid. The trailer is probably loaded improperly or suspension is damaged.

@PepesTowingService they have a sling cover that would do the same as your blue protectors in this video. But looking at it more I've never dealt with a container I don't think they would slip through the holes very easily.

Yankum is fantastic company for offroad recovery but I can't imagine they have many things useful for heavy lift lol
