  • Intermittent fasting has recently gained significant favor as a powerful tool for weight loss, improving metabolic health, and increasing longevity. And this is why it's one of the pillars of the Mastering Diabetes Method. If you're new to this concept and unsure where to begin, you've come to the right place.
Before diving into the specifics of intermittent fasting, it's important to understand the fundamentals. When fasting intermittently, you alternate between fasting and eating within a designated window of time. The intent is to give your body a break from constant digestion and allow it to tap into stored energy reserves.
But is it for everybody? What if you're pregnant? Or living with type 1 diabetes?
Well, in this video, Cyrus got the answer for you. And if intermittent fasting is for you, have the following options to get started: a once-per-week 24-hour fast, a twice-per-week 24-hour fast, and the most effective method, which is the 16:8 intermittent fast.
Watch the video all the way through, and find out how these methods work.

My concern is that there was a meta-analysis published a couple months ago of over 80 studies that said skipping breakfast increased all cause mortality. I agree that breakfast is easier to skip but the evidence seems to say that I'm increasing my all cause mortality if I do that. Maybe because of increased cortisol when you skip breakfast? Maybe because your body can actually metabolize better in the morning compared to later in the day (ie circadian rhythm). I've skipped dinner and tried an earlier fast but I found that unhealthy to skip dinner in front of my young child. I wish you could take a look at this meta-analysis and share your thoughts. It's a valid concern!!

I ❤ fasting , i grew up as a kid doing that on my own and i remember how good and vibrant i felt ! As a mom of a little munchkin with t1 i would like to know what about the insulin dosages?i grew my child with skipping dinner and this was one of the best bg managements i ve practiced for her especially for our sleep ...but i was wondering how can a grown up t1 do that with his shots?i believe it is possible , maybe having some veggie juices ?best regards

If you wait to begin eating until 12 noon, should you take medicine upon waking or wait until noon?

Depends on what medication. Check with your doctor.
Some medication should be taken with food. Some is better on an empty stomach. Some medicine should be taken at the same time every day.

I believe the quality of food counts. I'm sure there are some people out there who don't get sufficient nutrients even by eating 5 meals a day if all they're eating is highly processed, high calorie low nutrient foods...
