Funny how times change-Dynacord was once just "average," but now their gear is considered legendary. My Super 76 and Twen 2 are irreplaceable, and I’d go to great lengths to preserve them. I recently featured the Super 76 on my channel, with plans for more.
Old fart here from outside Syracuse NY where Dynacord products were exclusively imported by Mr. Sternberg of Bonne music on the southside. There was a local eastside band (The Vikings), I still babble to friends "Everyone in the band, EVERYONE except the drummer, sang through their OWN echo unit thru their Fender amp - Dynacord Echocord for the guitar/bass guys, Hohner Echolette for the singer...who actually had a makeshift PA years before anyone else did!". Incredibly rich Spector-ish sound for the mid-60's.
That distorted sound in the beginning sounded massive!
Way back in the '60 we had such a device, playing all those Shadows numbers...far out
the band was called The Flying Dutchmen...Schiedam The Netherlands
I was the bandleader, playing bass with a Framus Star Bass 2 pickups, a fortune then
The tone starting around 1:00 is fantastic, really nice sounding.
Great orange too!
Laurentvb92 Indeed, it sounds great :)
Oh yeah. Some dreamy sounds. Used an echoplex before and was mesmerized.
You are a sound magician!
Its a dream maschine!!! Perfect for surf, dream pop, inde, worship, psy rock and all stuff who need dreamy sounds!!! Its worth every bug!!!! Its not expensive for that what he can made!!!!!!! Its so cheap for that perfect sound, unbelivebil, here it costs approx 400- 600€
Yeah, the preamp is just killer, everything is just a bonus on top of that. The repeats are just lovely and worbly!

Nice! Did you change all the electrolytic capacitors in this unit? Do the motor run hot? I have a Super 62 that I am planning to restore.
Yes, all the caps has been changed. The motor spins cool a think. I have/had several different tape delays and all of them are cool running.
Good to know! Looks like you are using BASF LGR50 ?
I really love that heavy tone starting at czcams.com/video/PsVMVwKzros/video.html, is this coming from the echocord's preamp only ?
Or do you need the delay/reverb to be enabled to get that tone ? I'm studiying Dynacord schematics in order to try to find any amp of that brand that could match the Super S65 one.
It's only the preamp. You don't have to run the motor to play thru preamp.
@@idogepgyar Thanks for your answer ! So you plugged the S65 directly into the Orange right ?
@@TheLedSeb yeah, nothing in between the delay and the Orange. Not even plugged into the power amp, straight into the preamp of the Orange.
Is there significant line noise? I had an RE-201 that was a hiss monster. It really turned me off tape echos.
Not really, hiss is definitely a sign of some sort of fault. These (the RE201 also) are pretty quite when serviced or set up properly.
@smokibandit3319 it's hard to tell, but it definetly sounds like drop tuning, from most likely half step below e standard. So technically dropped c#, but that's just a guess.
you can put it into distortion?
What would you guys pay for this thing
Hard to validate a tape/tube echo's price these days when you can buy very cool modelling gear for cheaper. If you want the real deal that's fine but i won't pay more than 200-300 euro for anything that fragile and sensitive as an old tape unit is.
andrás schóber thanks for your reply I am buying one for 120 so that is never a bad deal .. it is a fine brand dynacord but indeed these things are pretty old... I have a dynacord mini-echo but that’s a little younger generation
bad sound, bad machine
Pretty good for the 1960s!
