Ren contracted Lyme diseases as a Teen. He went to the UK doctors complaining of severe pain in his entire body. They didn't catch the Lyme, and instead diagnosed him with Psychosis (they said it was all in his head). Instead of treating him for the Lyme, they gave him psycho-active/tropic drugs (which can come with horrible side-effects). He is now getting treatment for his Lyme and trying to repair his body (he actually did suffer "brain damage" from the Lyme). One of the things he's talked about, is that he now has PTSD surrounding "Medical Professionals", hence why he sees them as "Pigs" (the pig mask in the beginning).
That is terrible. It’s a miracle he survived at all. I share his distrust of the medical profession. Too many people suffer needlessly, at the hands of careless doctors - G
@@MikeandGinger But there’s a caveat to that. We *need* doctors to heal us and save our lives, so at some point we have to put our trust into them. Some are very careless, whether they mean to be or not, but many are not. And Ren is currently putting his trust into a specialist in Canada who’s treating his whole self; the Lyme’s, the associated physical illness born of that disease being left untreated for too long, and the mental illness he’s suffered from trying to handle it all alone for a decade. It’s a real tightrope for us all to walk to know who to trust and who not to. I think we have trust our own instincts sometimes. If it feels wrong, it likely is. I think we have to give our intuition attention more often. But that also requires some degree of confidence in oneself. It’s such a difficult thing to work through. I’m just glad he feels he’s on the right path right now, with the help of who he believes is a competent professional.

I have spent the last 20 years of my life living with a constant feeling of dread. It got to the point where I didn't want to leave the house because I was constantly expecting bad things to happen. Then my brother committed suicide which in my head validated the way I felt. The drs gave me meds that took the feeling away, but it also took all feelings away. After 4 years of working on myself I no longer take the meds and have got the "bad feelings" to a manageable level. They are constantly in me I just don't let them talk much anymore

I've had a similar experience without the loss of my brother.
The meds I were prescribed were good at 1st but like you said, I felt like a zombie. I had no feelings whatsoever.
I thought to myself how can I get better or more positive without feeling happy, excited, or any other positive feelings.
As with you it took time but I can also manage the negativity much better than previously. It's a constant battle though.
@@deanoevo74 I have found that with any situation to stop focusing on the end goal. Just focus on one step at a time. One step after the next gets you where you are going. Hope you are swell and well

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. I can’t even imagine it. I’ve had similar struggles with an endless stream of useless meds. I was also lucky enough to find my own way out. As I am suffering myself from double depression, depersonalization, anxiety disorder and a chronical pain disorder (e.g. 20+ days with headaches / month) for decades by now I feel so connected to Ren and this masterful piece of art he created and gave us. Also my "creative I" can understand his struggles so well. I wish I could hear the hope side stronger or at all. But he gives hope to hear hope some day.

I came here from Ghost-Mary on a Cross reaction and I'm glad I did. I'm glad you reacted to Ren as well. The first time I saw this song (and for the longest time afterwards) I teared up at "the noise that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope". Such good writing. He's so raw. If you feel it, you feel it.

I have been binge-watching reaction videos on Hi Ren for the last two weeks and I can't seem to stop. Watching people's reactions to this Message which I can not explain other than the Truth. I find myself in tears every time I see when someone 'gets' the Message. It is the entire Gospel of Christ in one song. First, we just sing along, then the inner battle, then Satan reveals himself and then Christ comes and Stands up in authority over us and claims us to be redeemed. Our Saviour and Eternal Hope and the only One who truley stood in the Eternal Flame having His brain creamated while it burned away Our sins. And finally, it is ok. Because we have been made to be trailed and tested, we are human.

i know its been abit since the vid got posted, but yeah he wrote my anthem. very similar situation diff diagnosis. but around same age, content creator and the eternal conflict inside the mind. heck i even got my "papers" about same time Ren did, and at about same age. we diff one year. now im 30+ and still same struggle but his song does help fair bit.
After having watched a good 70 reaction videos to Hi Ren, I enjoyed your review more for how the 2 of you interacted and reflected and shared how it affected each of you. Nice reaction.

So yea some facts on ren. 1. the song was done live if you look to the top of the gown you will see the mic and he did this as a 1 take so in total there were 4 versions of this in 1 take form and this was the one he finished on. 2. Ren was not trained on guitar he was/is self taught and learned from youtube videos. 3. So the song is about illness and mental health ren was misdiagnosed as a kid for years with depression, bipolar and other illnesses so was fed wrong medications untill finally he got a proper diagnosed with lyme disease and is now still going through treatment. Finally while he was misdiagnosed he actually signed with sony studios but due to his illness and not being able to keep his comitments with sony they dropped him and is a independent artist
In another time he would have been called Beethoven, Paginini, Chopin and so on. Disvovered him three or four weeks ago and just pfffff. Unbelievable. Spreading the word here in the Low Countries (and literally everyone is flabbergasted). This is something special.
And I get Ginger. I'm (sometimes) more of a 'shadow' among (most of my friends/familia) 'the rooted people' (does that even make sense?) The opposite of my sister and brother. And it ain't always easy for them (nor used to be for my girlfriends (one even managed to hold on for 10 years. Beautiful brilliant girl)

He's having health issues & his music is helping him. It's accomplishing what he set out to do. Getting people talking about their issues they've had to shove down for society. K

After the first time I saw this and I still break down. Because with all I struggle with and still do, since I was 15 and is 35 now. This hit really hard and home for me. But even it's hard to listen to, this is now my favorite song. for me that is suffering with depression, loneliness and suicide thoughts. Plus that i'm an overthinker. That struggle he is doing I have every day since it started when I was 15. So after I came a cross this video, I listen to this every day and I'm trying to do what Ren is saying. Try to learn to relax to soften the dance. Of course I came a cross him and this video 2 days ago. So it will take time since I have been this way for 20 years. I don't see a miracle happening and I don't think I will ever get out / get away from my really dark thoughts. But now having this to listen to and to remind me when I need it.

You're going to find out you walked into the end of 'The Sixth Sense' and learned Bruce Willis was dead all along before you watched any of the movie, you walked into 'The Empire Strikes Back' and learned Darth Vader is Luke's father before watching any other Star Wars film, and you also told everyone about it spoiling it for everyone you told. Firstly, I’ll point out that any ad revenue on this video goes to Ren, the artist, not us, and I think he deserves it.
Lastly, I always find it interesting how people think it’s reasonable to expect us to put in the time and effort to make videos - that they watch - without ever getting anything back for it. Especially when sitting thru a 15sec ad doesn’t actually cost you anything.
It takes 2 hours to record, edit, and upload each video. It takes countless more time and money for the equipment, software, and maintaining touch with our viewers. We don’t do it for the money. But it’s really rude of you to expect us to do all that, and for you to be cheesed when you think it’s possible we might have got a few pennies in return for your view. - G
