    Separate classes for twins! I’m a teacher and I see it all the time, the first few years will be hard but push through. They won’t understand why they have to be separate and they will fight it, but the longer you keep them together in classes the harder it is to separate them. I’ve had identical twins in my
    class that have been friends with children for years who still don’t know their names... Sad and I tried very hard to change it, but kids don’t understand the importance of calling them by their names instead of ‘the twins’ or saying ‘which one are you?’
    Love your videos and your girls! xx

    Having twins is so fun and also so HARD. My twin girls just turned 8. It’s getting easier now. The first 3 years were a struggle and honestly a blur. “The days are long but the years are short” ...so true. ❤️

    Yes twin isolation is a thing! My friends with singletons just don’t understand and it’s challenging on our relationships.

    You do such a great job of explaining the twin life! It makes me feel normal. We're home alot too, a splash pad in the backyard gives a break in the day but I think they like the predictability of structure 💟

    Thank you for vocalizing the special difficulties/circumstances of having twins - It's amazing but also crazy! I have one-year-old b/g twins and I totally feel like we are in our own twin world and find it really difficult to do things that I see other parents doing with their singletons. So glad we aren't the only ones! :)

    OMG!! I just got back with my 15 month old from Venice Italy, and we went on a cruise around Greece. Best trip ever and she did really well. We started teaching my daughter sign language and that helped so much before she stared saying words. My 12 year old cousins are twins and they have always been in separate classes to help them develop their own personality.

    I have identical twin girls who are about to be 6 weeks and i am definitely in survival mode although it has gotten better by the day! the first few weeks were ROUGH! I am also an elementary teacher and plan on splitting mine once they get to elementary school to give them their own identity. We had identical twins in our grade level this year and the teacher who had them wished they were separate for their sake socially and also because the mom would give one child more responsibility with bringing in class money because the other one was a little less mature. Thank you so much Kendra for making youtube videos and showing me that I can survive this point in our lives!! :)

    Kendra, I totally related to the "brain feeling like mush" after having my first baby when I returned to work after 3 months I literally could not focus on anything! All I could think about was baby this, baby that. My mind was 100% occupied thinking about meals for him, new toys, clothes, sleep training. It totally consumed me and I could not focus on work at all! It's like I was in a fog all day long at the office until I got home. Luckily that eventually balances out and now its like 50/50 lol!

    I agree separate class rooms when they go to school. My neighbor has twins and they don’t seem to want to play with other kids because they are so used to having each other. They are 11.

    Yes! The first three months after my girls were born I didn’t even feel like myself! Lol I was just out of my mind! After that, I feel like I’m out of the newborn fog, but I still have to prioritize what I can do, and say “no” to so many things because I just can’t add one more thing! And very true, the world is made for singletons. I’d love to do a Gymboree class, and may switch off weeks for them, but there’s no way I could do both girls at the same time.

    When my girl would go back with her mom (she's technically my niece, we share custody of her, long story), it would feel so weird going to sleep that night without her there. I remember the first/only time I left her alone with my husband to go to dinner with my sister (she was about 18 months), my poor girl cried herself to sleep, she's super clingy. She would freak out if I was in the kitchen behind the closed gate, even though she could see me perfectly fine. She's 2 now and getting a lot better but she's still quite clingy.

    Twin here! im about to graduate college and I can remember being in separate classes every single year. I think my sister and I maybe had 3 classes in high school together but I would really recommend separate! Homework probably won't be crazy different and I definitely grew as an individual those years separated!

    Lol, when you’re talking about the different lanes, hahaha, I totally get that! I literally said out loud “yes!!” I think I was only able to take them out in public with another friend when they were both able to listen to me hands off. (ie. without me having to drag them back physically, they would recall with just my voice) and I’m definitely still working on having an engaging conversation with a friend while still keeping my eyes on my twins. Sigh. It’s so exhausting.

  • @Kiri727
    @Kiri727 Před 6 lety

    Hi Kendra. I’m a mother of twins (now 13!) and a school psychologist. Based on what I observed of twins while working, it seemed that they were often treated as a unit which made developing their own individual identities and expressing their own traits more challenging. In cases where one twin had either learning or behavioral difficulties, sharing the same classroom often meant that the twin with less difficulties felt responsible and constantly monitored and assisted the twin that struggled. After observing all of this, I decided to put my own twins in the same classroom for kindergarten (to help them adjust to being in school all day). Starting in 1st they have been in separate classes. They will being going to high school in a year, and it looks like they will be headed to different schools due to different interests (one performing arts based and one STEM). Even though they are each other’s best friend ❤️, they also seem to want even more space socially (still kind of seen as a unit even though in different classrooms in middle school and boy/girl twins). They have very different personalities. Hope this helps.

  • @Bo0cupcake
    @Bo0cupcake Před 6 lety

    Omg everything you say is relatable and my twins are such opposites but they really do even each other out. We learned to not stress the little stuff and let things go. 😅 and totally agree about going out in public alone. Every outing needs to be planned out and with another human being that knows them! If not...the twins are NOT having it and mommies are having an anxiety attack. Lol

I have two girls 2 and 5 and I just don't think I could have done two at one time twins run in my family a lot so with each pregnancy I was like please let it be one lol.

    oh momma that feeling of being away from your kids doesn't really go away (even though we know its good for them), my son just turned 5 and even on date nights I want to pick him up from the sitter(my parents haha) and put him to bed myself. well last weekend we went to get him and he asked to stay there. I of course said yes- & was so happy he wanted to be away and he feels happy there but my heart also hurt a little that he was growing up so much. haha.

    My twin girls just turned 6 on Saturday and they finished kindergarten! They were in same class because they didn’t do pre-k. Gigi had a hard time separating from me and it was good to have her sister with her!! They did great together in class! Had their own friends and thrived! Now they are going into first grade at a new school in new town so I’m leaving them in same class!! I think in 2nd grade I will separate them! But they did fine together

    I’m a teacher... most of the time I’ve found that twins are often put together for the first year or two of school, then separated after that. I’ve taught an identical twin, and could easily tell them apart in the year I was teaching one of them and seeing her every day, but as they grew older and moved up grades I couldn’t tell them apart anymore!!

    • @kathymills1925
      @kathymills1925 Před 6 lety

      That sounds like the best approach to me. My kids are grown and I don't have twins, but going to school is a big change for them. Being separated for the first time on top of that seems like a lot all at once. Let them get use to school, then put them in separate classrooms.

  • @angelicaclaudio-cortes6952

    My mom had my baby sisters (twins) in the same pre-school, but separated them in elementary. Their pre-school teacher said that one would have a good day and the other a bad day, and they would alternate each day, so they're was never a good day for the teacher, lol. They're going to be 10th graders this year.

    As a teacher, I can tell you that 99% of the time it’s beneficial to split up twins into separate classes.
