    Just finished the mods with my ‘19 FE 450. And as you said, the power is definitely there. The throttle is much more responsive now. Did my TPS at .72. Rode it around the streets a bit and was doing wheelies in second and third. Can’t wait to get it out to the dirt! Awesome video! Earned a sub.

      Oregon Dual Sport so an update from me after a couple ride on the dirt and street: the bike has performed amazingly. The power is amazing and can easily get through any obstacle. I had some popping despite the duck tape, but that’s because of a shotty job on my part. I ordered the ball bearing from KTM and husky and haven’t had any problems. Overall, I say it’s a must do for any serious dual sport rider.

    Pretty sure u don’t need to put that intake tube in the air box I think it just keeps the air box from collapsing. Does make sense to smooth the flow of air other than the square the air has to flow threw. Another thing my personal preference is I would not crank the tps that high been reading lots of forums and guys say the highest u should go is .64 or .65 other than that your wasting fuel. And with changing that end cap out I think that would need a tuner or new ECM as u can’t just bump the tps up been reading that at WOT the bike leans its self out when making that adjustments. Just something to think about before doing this. I my self bumped the tps to .64 or .65 and removed that mesh screen out the stock end cap made a bit of a difference.

      @@jasonf7063 Definitely pick up the intake tube, they increase the velocity of the air going into the intake due to the size being smaller and the Mototerre ones have a twist in them which increases that. Leaving it open would affect the velocity of the air and it may not be as responsive as it could be.
      Also, the spark arrestor on the stock end cap is massive and still restrictive even with the screen cut out of the tip. The aftermarket tips definitely have more flow to them.

    • @OregonDualSport
      @OregonDualSport  Před 5 lety +5

      Good question! The benefit of the 350 is the feeling of the weight. On paper the 450 and 350 are pretty similar in weight, but the difference in how much the piston moves makes the 350 feel significantly lighter than the 450 due to centrifugal force. You'd be surprised at the difference in weight feeling. The 350 almost feels like a 250. The 350 is built to be more powerful than it comes to us in the US, but emission laws prevent that, so all we are doing here is deleting all those additional components that make the bike run at less-than-normal performance.

Wrong the ecu is locked, no one can map it and now I'm screwed with having the bike run lean. A few flame outs, sometimes coughs, and an occasional backfire. I ran race gas 1 gal to 1. Whatever is left and it clears up all the problems. So in other words I'm now left with that choice or I buy the vortex. I bought a 2019 350 EXC-F brand new on 4/4/19. I got on the freeway 10 min after leaving the shop, couldnt go over 40. Felt like it was in derate or something very sluggish. Took in back in the truck the following day so im waiting to see what's up. Pretty frustrating to spend primo price and get problems within 10 minutes of riding.

      Austin Schweich I had an issue similar. Bought a 2019 350exc on 10/05/19, was very sluggish and lean. Wouldn’t run right and would constantly flame out. Brought it back to the dealer and turns out the fuel pump was bad. It only was putting out 20psi instead of 60. Got it back and it runs perfect now.

    The TPS sensor has nothing to do with adjusting the fuel/air mixture. You need to adjust to timing per ecu flash or controller. Adjust the tps is the same as adjusting the idle adjustment on carb.

    • @franksmith6683
      @franksmith6683 Před rokem +1

      No it's not, it adjusts the position at which the ecu "thinks" the throttle plate is, so if you give it 10% more voltage the ecu believes the lie, that throttle is letting 10% more air in so it injects 10% more fuel to compensate but as the throttle is not really letting in more air, it gets 10% richer. These numbers are an example and in reality 10% more voltage may not be 10% more air due to the angle of the throttle plate but you get the idea.
      This follows all across the ecu map at all times in a none linear fashion because airflow changes vs. voltage non linearly, depending on throttle angle, which is not ideal, a corrected map would allow for the different volumetric efficiency with less intake and exhaust restriction at higher engine speeds and cam timing etc. A properly corrected map would be richer at the top end as that's when the free breathing is going to have most effect; also you could adjust the ignition timing which would help. All that being said, this mod is no worse than a carburettor which has worked adequately for decades.
