Helped alot, for those who didn't understand try reading the comments in 5:46 as u can see u can use the left/right arrow keys to change partitions put the disk/partition you want as primary by using your arrow keys(in my opinion change all of them just not the ones with root in it it will say structure not good or something like that then if u don't want a partition just delete whats inside it and use that free space for something else) u don't have to copy anything copying works but it will take a lot of time i mean a lot its better to put all the disks/partition as primary and press enter choose write and enter again it will say you have to reboot so press enter again wait 2 sec it will take u back after that close the Program and restart your PC and its done.
Ps: if u have any Qs ask away.

I used a program that allowed me to turn from Dynamic to Basic without warning for data loss so i assumed it would be ok as it was from Basic to Dynamic... Then it made sure to fail even in that and freeze in the middle of conversion so my disk got all messed up and recovery programs wouldn't help at all. Thanks to you and TestDisk I'm now recovering my files with my original folder structure! Thank you!!!

From looking at this, the program (testdisk) is doing the work. It recovered the partitions that it could (which makes those available) but there were some that he was not able to recover (quick repair) so he used testdisk to get the files he needed. The main thing is that the partitions that he was not able to recover are now part of an un-allocated space so it can be reused.

Thank you so much Christophe, this tool is amazing and easy to use. I had previously mirrored 2x1TB drives via the same disk management you showed in your video. My OS went awry when I changed the hardware so I had to reinstall it. Inserted one of the drives in an external dock connected via USB 3, and voila! My precious photographs are safely copied to another drive. Donated ;)

  • @dr.oneskyaeriallenseimager4072

this video is excellent. it worked for me 100% I managed to fully re-store 976GB of music and video files using testdisk 7.0 and this walk through. the only problem with this video is that he doesn't explain in the beginning that you need the same amount of free space or more when you run the program. I recovered nearly 1TB worth of data by literally transferring it from the Dynamic disc (which was from an old machine and now in a USB external case) directly onto my C drive on my new PC. once all the data had been lifted of the drive I was able to convert the drive back to a basic drive and carry on using it. worth noting before you proceed. other than that, this video help me recover years worth of MP3s. so for that i can't thank you enough 😉😊👍

I faced a little problem after copying my .exe files from dynamic hard drive. The .exe files were giving me error (The file path is incorrect or you have insufficient rights to run this, even i run it as administrator)
    To solve this:
Right click the exe -> properties ->security -> click Edit -> Select ur current account(The windows account u are currently logged in) -> Full Control -> Apply -> ok -> ok
And here you go... No errors

Thanks, but your instructions are terrible... you totally SKIPPED the part of how to convert Dynamic to Basic. Here are the steps:
    1. Select your disk
    2. Pick "Intel" (for Windows)
    3. Select "Analyse"
    4.a. Click "Quick Search"
4.b. You will see a list of partitions, pick one
    5. Enter "T" for Change Type
    6. Select "07" or NTFS (or any other file system)
    7. ENTER
    8. Select "Write"
    9. Reboot
This will write a new NTFS partition and puts your file there, it will also change the drive from Dynamic to Basic and makes it Valid.
    Hope this helps others...
