  • This is a run along I-75 South entering the Metro Atlanta Region. It starts before the I-75 Northwest Express Lanes and follows it to I-285 East Inner. The video follows I-285 East Inner to I-85 North, following it to GA 316.
This video is part of my June 2020 Atlanta series. A significant partnership with FreewayJim was in effect during the visit, being able to utilize his equipment and ride along during the trip.

Great ride Justin! It's nice getting your desert perspective in the deep tree South (as much as Jim hates them). Loved the second track!

It is definitely a new perspective for sure. In my next video, I might add my observations about typical surroundings, such as the different restaurant/gas station chains I noticed, along with architecture, definitely the more prevalent brick I noticed.
That second song was from a classic FreewayBrent video covering the notable Ontario Highway 401 in Toronto, really liked that one and was happy to use it here. Thanks for watching!

    Nice work on the video.
The Spaghetti Interchange sure is massive and imposing, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a worse designed large interchange in America.
The ramps don't have continuous curvilinear geometry and the vertical crest curves are inexplicably abrupt. Even if the engineers didn't elect for the curvilinear design for the ramps, they at least should have used a shallower parabolic curve for the vertical crest on the straight segment of the ramps. This interchange looks to me like it was designed by an accountant and not a traffic engineer.
Anyways, nice work on the video.

I reflect on that now that you mention it, those vertical arches do feel out of place now, something I did not think about in person. They definitely do not provide the clean, speedy transition that I would expect from a typical flyover. I also found that merge between I-85 North and the streets Northcrest/Pleasantdale a real merging nightmare, experienced it twice on the trip. Thanks for watching!
