I have bought and sold 8 different Taurus pistols. Started with the PT111 G2, then the G2C, and now the G3C. I just picked up a G3C T.O.R.O. after selling off my last PT111 G2. While they have all been more reliable than I had ever imagined, all the evolutionary upgrades have really changed the overall experience with the platform. Thankfully, Taurus has taken the Glock approach to pistol model evolution. They are way better than their price point would suggest. Haters can hate all they want, I honestly trust mine and my families life with the G series pistols. While I’ve been able to afford more expensive pistols, and I have some really nice firearms, the Taurus G series is the one that continually rides with me.

I had one and never had one complaint with it other than I let my grandfather shoot at one time and he has really large hands and the slide cut his thumb because he wrapped it around the back incorrectly which was sort of my fault I should have been paying attention to his grip pasture and could have helped him to avoid that but other than that I never had any complaints from anyone I let shoot it or myself my wife who is only 100 lb 5 ft tall head issues cocking it so I may look into getting a lighter recoil spring if I can to make it easier for her but they are damn good little carry guns for sure plus the price of them you can't get upset if it gets scratched up or dropped and couched a little bit or anything else they're great little guns for the price for sure you could get two of those and still have two or $300 in your pocket compared to what you would pay for a Glock and to me they are more comfortable in my hand than any black I've ever held! And I've never ever ever had one issue with Taurus and I've had probably 25 of them throughout time!

I've had my G3c now for a few months.
    I love this weapon.
I take it to the range, roll the target out to 30 yards (freaking the 20' range bunnies out) and bang 10 in the 6" targets with ease. It's wonderfully controllable and easy to keep on target with negligible muzzle climb.
Breakdown and cleaning is a snap. I've run over 500 rds through it so far and never a misfeed or misfire. And I don't go pop! ...breathe...aim...5 seconds later pop!
I bang 10 rds straight out at 2 rds a second and have never had a problem. The trigger pull is just right with reset coming quickly and smoothly.
Great weapon for an even greater price. Excellent carry weapon. Lightweight. Compact. Accurate. Reliable. Home run Taurus.

Wow! This has to be one of your longer reviews, but very nicely done. Very thorough explanation of the somewhat subtle, but useful improvements over the previous model. It appears that the only place Taurus dropped the ball was not maintaining the slide contour so the G3c would actually fit in G2c holsters. I imagine that could discourage some folks from upgrading, or tick them off when they made the change without seeing this review, only to find that their upgraded “budget” pistol required more money for a new holster. (Maybe Multi-Holster will offer a low cost service re-contouring existing G2c holsters to fit the G3c?)

I think the best things about the G3c over the G2c are the slide finish, the upgraded trigger and finally the all-steel guide rod that they changed with the G3. The next generation will hopefully include texturing the memory pads and making optic cuts and the manual safety optional. Great side-by-side review. I'm glad you covered the Kydex holster bit since holsters are so essential for an EDC weapon. Also seeing you attempt the slide swaps was a good idea.

The main reason I'd consider getting the G3c would be if they reduced the initial trigger pull weight of the G2c. Since they didn't, I don't see enough of a reason to get the newer model.

@@84jamesp great question. I am a prevent kind of guy. The reviews I have read..... indicated that the spring "could" possibly displace itself over time, and that was not the case with the stainless steel spring/guiderod. It didn't cost much to me.... and certainly made sense to me is all. So I did it..... Have to say I do feel more confident with the switch. I think I got it from Galloway.

I have both, I like the pop up loaded indicator on the 2c. In the middle of the night in the dark I can feel that a round is chambered or not. I prefer the trigger on the 3c. They are both capable of great accuracy if you do your job. The Taurus fever must have affected my judgement because I had to buy the 17 round G3 that comes with a 15 round mag.

I’m not gonna lie. I loved my Glock 19 Gen 4. But since I just purchased the G2c for $150 at a gun shop I love it way more than the Glock. It’s lighter, it’s smaller and it fits in my hand so well. Shooting it feels natural and not like I settled for the Glock. I paid about $680+ for my Glock. It was good it did what it was supposed to but I had to get used to shooting the Gen 4 and I had to compromise on the things that I didn’t like about it. With the G2c like I said when I brought it home I cleaned it, oiled it and took it to the range on my property. That’s when I was like is this really happening? A cheap brand of gun that I was always told to stay away from my whole life is actually better than one of the top dogs. Shit I’ll be buying a few more of Taurus’s guns. The only thing I’ve had to change about the G2c are the sights. But I had to do that with my expensive ass Glock lol. Glad I bought this Taurus no regrets. It is and will be my EDC.
