      Quite welcome and thank you for watching! Yes... with 9mm being so popular, people forget it is also avail in 40. The great part is, you are getting 10 rounds of 40 s&w in the same package and size of guns where you get 10 rounds of 9mm. For defensive purposes, this is great! My friend is a huge fan of 40 so I gave him this gun and kept the 9mm.

    The so-called "snap" of the .40 gives me reassurance that the weapon has cycled. Also at the time of its introduction, the .40 cal was the closest round in performance to a .357 magnum in a concealable compact. At that time there was no striker-fired 45 ACP compact such as the S&W Shield or a light easy to carry 5 shot .357 such as the Poly Protector by Taurus. A Ruger SP101 (great gun) weighs nearly 2 lbs. At that time the Glock 27 was about the only choice. I carried a Glock 27 for over a decade. I now carry a Shield in .40 and alternate between the G2c in .40 and a Poly Protector in .357. If a concealed carry is heavy and drags your pants down you won't carry it all the time. I carry all the time.

    I'm a left handed shooter, and I've just learned to adapt and handle most pistols. I've had the G2c in 9mm for a couple years and love it. I just got it today in .40 and it's just as easy to manipulate. I use my index finger for mag release and it's almost effortless since all of my handguns are more "righty" friendly.

      The 40 has a power advantage over a 45 ... A comon myth is a 45 because larger many think has more energy but is actually less then the 40...the 45 shoots softer in small compacts and the 9 mm because they are low pressure rounds...this is why the 40 though size in between the 9 mm and 45 has more recoil....its simply because it is a more potent and powerful round then the 45 acp if you compare energy on all comon cartridges and have equal barrel lengths....for a 45 to keep up with the 40 you need a +P load but even that does not touch a 40 wich is a high pressure round even if its its not + P and even if 45 comes close you still got 40 wich comes in +P also like buffalo bore and underwood ..no 45 is ever going to be as explosive as a underwood 135 grain nosler bullet....shure a 45 still makes big holes but the bullet is not much bigger then a 40 given the size of of how large human body is in relation to the bullet....the 40 is under rated and miss understood because on the table it looks like its a middle caliber between the 9 mm and 45 but not so....the 9 mm and 45 have to fight for second place...the only reason why 40 in compacts is more snappy then a 9 mm or 45 is simply its a more powerful and a higher pressure round wich means more recoil but packs a wollup on any attacker i have a chonometer and have been shooting 1911 45"s since 1986 and my job in army was small are repair .. when 40 came along i thought it was a in between caliber at first and then found out that the facts are a 40 is more powerful then a 45 in every way...a 45 to match a 40 needs more barrel length and to be +P but even then the speer gold dot in 165 grain can still woop a 45

I like you reload cast my own bullets have multiple progressive machines for pistol and single stage for rifle. I have 40 cals 9mms and 45s you name it.. You only need so much energy to stop a threat. A 230 gr hollowpoint or even hardball will knock the shit out of your adversary. We all have our opinions with firearms. • @MrGsteele
    @MrGsteele Před rokem +1

    I regularly hear caveats about the .40 S&W being an effective round, but . . . followed usually by an adverse comment on its higher recoil than is the case for 9mm. My experience is different - significantly so. I have two essentially identical Taurus pistols - a Millennium G2 in 9mm and a G2c in .40 S&W. After shooting them both at the same range session, I found the recoil impulses to be different, for sure, but also at odds with anecdotal descriptions.
    I have since asked 3 different shooters to fire them side by side in an A:B test at the range, and all 3 have come to the exact same conclusion as mine: the .40 is easier to control. The recoil impulse of the 9mm is sharp - leading to more muzzle rise and higher slide velocity; the impulse of the .40 is more like a "push" - and is more controllable, as well as faster back on target for a follow-on shot. It may be my particular gun; perhaps the recoil spring rate; perhaps the ammunition; perhaps the particular grip geometry and polar moment of the Taurus. I don't know - but it is definite, it is obvious, and it is reliably the case to the degree that I willingly forgo the extra two rounds of the 9mm for the controllability of the .40. After all, shot placement matters, and if you don't hit your target . . .
    I think there are a few things worthy of note: 1, I also have a S&W 4006 in .40 that is much heavier than the Taurus; its recoil impulse, counterintuitively, is much worse. These were CHP issue guns that were discontinued in favor of a return to 9mm. I think the CHP mistake was not in the choice of .40 as their caliber, but rather in the choice of gun to fire it. A more controllable gun might well have resulted in the .40 staying in service.
    2, I suspect this observation is extensible across a wide variety of arms. I own a .458 Winchester Magnum bolt-action rifle, made years ago to my specifications. It has a heavy, steeply-pitched rollover comb and a Mannlicher stock - to the muzzle. It is also Mag-na-Ported. I would far rather (were it not for the outrageous cost of .458 Magnum ammo) shoot that rifle than a .30-06 Remington 742 that I also own. The 742's recoil velocity is "snappy" and uncomfortable to shoot; the .458's - again - more like a "push." There's a dramatic difference - at least for me, as well as among those I've shot with who've also compared the two - in the perceived controllability and comfort, as well as "confidence" in the weapon with the lower recoil velocity.
    3, and finally, it could also point to an overlooked opportunity in gun tuning, with consequences in competitive shooting or self-defense. Slide lightening to reduce slide cycle time and increase firing rate might well, in certain cases, be counterproductive if it results in snappier recoil. Muzzle displacement upwards is the bugaboo of rapid fire; the further back down that you have to bring a muzzle for a follow-on shot, the longer it takes. A minor flip is much easier to control. Tinkering with the recoil characteristics specifically to minimize recoil velocity might prove to provide a competitive advantage. In a gunfight, that's a life and death advantage.
    I bring this up because you read a lot about recoil and controllability, but usually the discussion centers on recoil energy figures. I think that shortchanges the very real and perceptible - and perhaps more important overall - effect of recoil velocity. I'd rather be pushed firmly than punched. It seems more in keeping with what a body or nerve/muscle system is equipped to deal with. At any rate, it's at least worth considering and observing, and being alert to the fact that effective, competitive, and survivable use of a weapon is what matters, not numbers in a ballistics table.

    i had the pt111 millennium from back in the day then i bought the the g2c 9mm here lately i find the slower moving 40 s&w is more accurate then the faster 9mm and the 40 definitely is more price effective over the 9mm i like the 40 more then the 9mm version of this gun better but the 9mm version has more mag compacity then the 40 i hunted hogs in fld up close rang with my 40 when the dogs would flush the hogs out of the palms and the 40 was vary impressive then my 9mm kaltec rifle i was using at the time the 40 would drop a fast moving hog quicker then my 9mm rifle i used for hunting hogs with jhp ammo the 40 is vary impressive indeed

    ankle carried a kahr cm40 backup for a long time. .40 out of these short barrels has signficantly more energy than .357 out of the same barrel length because of cylender gap, while having a 5+1 and a bigger cross section. just not a lot of interest recently in .40 ever since we decided new 9mm is superior... but i think we have ignored the poor expansion performance of most defense rounds out of these short barrels. larger calibers actually get a higher percentage of their final energy (not velocity! which is exponentially related to energy) out of a shorter barrel compaired to 9mm. i do think that .40 guns tend to tear themselves appart at about 5x the rate as 9mm ones... but thats why this cheap gun might be perfect.... ide go with the stainless version if you can find it, i had my 9mm version rust a lot on me constantly but mostly just surface petna like the sigp365xmacro

Now if you shoot the person, who is a threat to you and everyone else around, in the leg or anywhere where the bullet severed a main artery or somewhere important in the human anatomy. You kill the person for shooting the main artery or possibility paralyze someone. Look at the Jacob Blake shooting. He was shot multiple times and he's paralyzed now.

      @@spiegelknee-da-girls7309 are you asking about the gun or the caliber? 9 to 40 is fairly simple, different barrel and breech face/extractor and different magazines. I am also assuming different weight recoil springs.

    40 cal is good for hitting someone and bring a lot of stopping power but 9mm penetration is better than 40cal and 45 acp
