    The cut down lug on the opposite side of the extractor is to even the load across the 6 other lugs and reduce the likelihood of failure in the 2 adjacent to the extractor.

    I use the LMT E-BCG on my suppressed (SiCo Specwar 556) 11.5" Sionics SBR with Vltor A5H2, Tubbs AR10 flat wire spring, and SLR Rifleworks Ti AGB. HUGE improvement....zero gas to face. None.
    I also use the LMT Enhanced Carrier on my KAC 16" SR15 Mod2, unsuppressed, with Vltor A5H1 and Geissele Super42 Rifle Spring. Superbly well-running gun.

    As far as I know the LMT Enhanced and Surefire weren't made for suppressors. They were made specifically for the 14.5 to reduce overall wearing. Back in early 2000s the military was finding the shorter 14.5 barrels were causing the bolt to wear excessively. LMT came up with this idea but Colt came back with a thicker socom profile barrel and putting a HD spring and o-ring on the extractor. The same issues came up back when they made the xm177 program and at the time Jim Sullivan wanted to re-design the system but never could. He noticed excessive gas and pressure build up that was way more than the 20 inch one he came up with. The surefire obc was what Jim Sullivan came up with had he been able to re-do the system. Overall I think the OBC is the better of the 2. I found it worked quite well and it is unfortunate that surefire isn't making any more of them, or as far as I can tell.

      ya none of them were i believe designed with suppressors in mind. instead solving short barrel machine gun issues but it was interesting to apply it to suppressors. i never did a follow up on this but the delay in opening ends up decreasing the bolt velocity and the bolt ends up staying open a bit longer and "can" increase loudness at the shooter from what i observed

    The LMT enhanced bcg cam path is longer in the straight part to allow more residual gas pressure to decrease before un-locking..The down side is these enhanced carriers will not run as reliable in the rifle system gas tube which is why the military rejected them..For short gas systems like the carbine length gas tube they work as designed..Jim Sullivan discussed this in his interview for Small Arms Review..He incorporated a longer/straight cut in the cam path for the Stoner 63 for this exact same reason....

    The Lantac does have larger vent holes angled forward for the same reason the LMT has 3 vent holes. As far as gas venting it does the same as the LMT it just doesn’t have the altered cam path or enhancements to the bolt.

    You do not get more chamber pressure from going with a shorter barrel, you put more gas up the journal, back the tube and into the gas key. You only make more chamber pressure if you run a hotter loaded cartridge

    • @silencerstudent9381
      @silencerstudent9381  Před 11 měsíci

      i dont rememeber discussing chamber pressure, only barrel exit pressures.

    Icon Defense (a new company founded by “Mega” Mike Miller of Mega Arms fame, and Rick Olsen of Killer Innovations) has a brand new BCG with a modified cam path as well as an integral gas key. KAK actually just released a new “enhanced” BCG with sand cutters on it and the vent holes on the carrier are actually directed downwards rather than straight out. Apparently this makes shooting suppressed significantly quieter, and I imagine dirties up your mags quite a bit.

    the lantac doesn't have a roller cam pin it's just rounded off .they say it's easier on the upper receiver just throwing that out there.good video by the way

    I think LMT finally released the material for the bolt, I recall reading somewhere that its Aeromet. The bolt lug they removed is supposed to load balance the rest of the lugs. Its generally understood that the lugs that fail most often are the ones neighboring the extractor. By removing that one lug opposite those two, it supposedly reduces the stress on them exponentially.
    For me, due to the proprietary nature of their bolt, I opted to just buy the carrier only, and install a Colt bolt. Extractors are wear items as are the springs, and not being able to easily replace those is more concerning to me, as I will likely need to replace an extractor sooner than the entire bolt itself. And if one is worried about the extractor spring itself failing, you can use an upgraded Sprinco that has a much longer cycle life. NOTE:: chrome Sprinco silicon springs need lubrication as they are not as corrosion resistant as stainless, without lubrication they can fail prematurely in wet/salty environments, just lube your gun like you should be doing anyway and it will be fine.
    Also Leitner Wise has now released their carrier I think. (Paul Leitner Weise is the LW of LWRC as I understand it, no longer affiliated.)

    I want to see a follow-up video showing the gassiness of a suppressed sbr ar15, such as a mk18, with the LMT vs. a traditional bcg. I want to know if the LMT will eliminate the gas issue with my suppressed mk18. An h3 heavier buffer, tuned down adjustable gas block, and gas buster charging handle helped SOME, but not enough.

    Me and another guy tested out the surefire BCG and we ran it on a meticulously built 11.5 with a standard old direct thread Gemtech LE556 and that thing couldn't cycle didn't matter what ammo or buffer weight we put on it nothing! It had a standard Colt 11.5 barrel with colts own pinned cut down front sight post and a cult of a receiver and even with the full auto lower we used which was a cult as well it still wouldn't work correctly. We used both my own semi-automatic lowers which were several even with the PDW buffer system and stock, a standard carving stock and buffer, and the A5 system, and the M16A1 buffer system and none of them worked. It was upsetting
