    Superb video! This is one of those jobs that looks dead simple but infact isn't, it requires more thought when things are out of square. Have subcribed and look forward to more of these.

    Thanks for taking your time to post this video. Nice and easy instructions. Now I need to try to patch up my damage Thet I caused by putting my foot in from the loft and made a right mess in my cream carpet and partner not at all happy! The problem is my ceiling is one of the old type slatted ceiling rather than just a plasterboard. May have to get a professional in but before I do that I will have a go (& no doubt make a more mess!!)

      I feel your pain....we had plasterboard remnants all over our dining room table! 😂 You should still be able to patch up a lath and plaster ceiling with plasterboard. Once it's re-plastered you shouldn't notice any difference. Might just need to use a different thickness plasterboard.

      Yes it was a bit annoying! Especially as I was actually doing an upstairs room and putting a new ceiling up in there at the time!! 🙈

    Thanks for this. I'd never even considered cutting away more of the ceiling but it's clearly the right way to do it.

      With any patching up like this, I think the best way is to remove a bit more to tidy it up and get yourself some nice neat edges to work with. Thanks for watching.

      What if the hole is in corner of room above door frame and cant get to the joist?

    • @charlieshooter
      @charlieshooter  Před 2 lety +1

      Depends how big the hole is, but you may have to cut a bit more away to get to a joist, or put some batten on the wall to give you a make shift joist effectively, to attach a new board to.

    Great video! Is there anything to be aware of if you're replacing a small section of ceiling that was water damaged? Aside from fixing the source of the water damage first.

    • @charlieshooter
      @charlieshooter  Před 3 lety +1

      I don't think so.....just make sure you cut out all the water damage, and ensure that no electrics were affected either.

    hi can you tell me cutter you are using from where we can buy it what that exactly called

    • @charlieshooter
      @charlieshooter  Před 6 lety +2

      The tool is called a Multi-Tool, Multi-Cutter, or Oscillating Multi-Tool depending what brand it is. They are available from most DIY stores. Sometimes even Aldi have them. They are a handy bit of kit!

      @@charlieshooter As per the title of the video, "How to repair a hole in the ceiling..."
      I watched it in order to learn how to repair a ceiling.
      Your video fell somewhat short of repairing a ceiling, hence my remark.

    • @charlieshooter
      @charlieshooter  Před 5 lety +6

      Well....at the start of the video there is a stinking big hole in my ceiling, by the end of the video, there is no hole in the ceiling and is ready to be plastered.....I'd say I had repaired the ceiling! 😂

    • @johnx9318
      @johnx9318 Před 5 lety +1

      @@charlieshooter 'Ready to be plastered' indicates that the ceiling is not yet repaired.
      Perhaps if you titled the video "how to patch a hole on order to prepare for plastering your ceiling" it wouldn't be so misleading.

      John X In the first few seconds of the video I explain what I'm going to show....if it didn't meet your expectations you could have turned it off then.....OR.....you could watch me repair a hole in the ceiling, and then watch another video on how to plaster a ceiling....or how to plaster any kind of wall really! Theres loads out there but this is one of the most popular..... czcams.com/video/LyngzAYIuZs/video.html
