I generally stay away from anything affiliated with Foxtel.
My partner subscribes to Now for a few shows she likes (i say yarr personally), the interface is absolutely shocking.
"why does it always jump to the end of the last episode when i open the app?"
because having a monopoly means tough shit if you dont like it.
Yeeeah ....sounds like what I'd expect from foxtel. Disappointing, deceptive and overpriced.
Crikey , this hubbl box reminds me of an old Vodafone TV box from 2017!
So it's a bad Chromecast?
Even though Foxtel Hubbl is very small it is still a waste of space.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Awesome, thanks. You've explained it very well and confirmed we certainly don't need one.
That "benefit" of the afl through local TV, will change next year with the new TV deal where internet TV is considered normal and will be available on 7plus.
I've been getting a laggy EPG on it. Annoys the crap out of me. Also been getting "Please Wait" way too much. Don't think I'll use it much longer.
if its like firestick you need to clean the cache that will speed it up
Thorough as always
Good find in t+c's
It's a no for this house
The game certainly changed...and Foxtel lost
Few things.
Having a TV antenna for free to air for the AU market is smart, it's why I still use my HTPC with a TV tuner card, Family still watches TV.
The general idea is good but executed badly, it seems the Sky box has the right idea though.
So, comparing Hubbl's free-to-air channel support with the Foxtel Now Box, they went backwards. The Foxtel Now Box free-to-air is a bit slower to load over standard Foxtel channels but it's just there for selection right from the channel guide.
I’ve used both sky stream and hubbl and I can tell that sky stream is far more advanced than hubbl.
What Foxtel should’ve is called there new service Foxtel stream.
They would’ve taken all there channels from Foxtel and put it on the hubbl.
The channel offering is restricted too on hubbl.
What sky has done is taken there satellite service and put it on there sky stream service
Putting foxtel in the name would’ve been worse for them since no one really likes foxtel anymore
This is literally just a Fetch box with Binge and Kayo available on it, plus Hubbl can't even do 4K 30FPS, while Fetch can do 4K 60FPS
Seems like they are trying to compete with fetch TV
fetch has some good channels such as the 3 Now music channels and they are free
I just want every review to include a comparison to Foxtel IQ5 - how many similarities! - and ideally Fetch too
Very nice walkthrough, simple straight to point.
its no better than all other devices, like fetch etc, all cheap crap and there is no content on any streaming platform worth pissing on--- i threw mine in the bin
same here, fetch was crap
Is it meant to be a cut down Foxtel iQ box or something?
Oh, so basically they spelled 'Telstra TV 4' wrong. Great review and you confirmed exactly what I thought it would be after seeing the ad. I'm still using the Telstra TV 2 I picked up for 50 bucks 5 years ago and wouldn't swap it for this.
Don’t most smart tv’s have the apps themselves these days
Correct
Not all smart TVs are created equal, some are unusably slow, not compatible with current apps, or lacking in memory. A settop box can help with those issues.
Its value is terrible UI and terrestrial TV, so the thing that the 60” device on my wall can already do…😂
Nice rundown as always, thank you TMP!
Always a pleasure thank you Sir !
i just wish apple tv and chromecast would implement free to air tv in their UI. THAT would be a game changer
If you have bluetooth speakers it won't work with them, if you have a Chromecast it falls short of replacement because you can't add your own apps and no device mirror function so you can't share what's playing on your phone with your Hubbl device.
Just a few little things keep the hObbl well short of being great.
Thanks for the review. I was looking forward to this device but just watching how slow it responds is already a killer
My parents have just installed Hubbl to replace their Foxtel IQ and they are loving it - this is probably where the market is. Older customers looking to ditch Foxtel. Binge/Flash/Kayo is significantly cheaper - the integration of live FTA channels with channels from Binge/kayo in a single list is the big selling point. The hubbl box even has the same channel numbers for live tv that a Foxtel IQ box has. It is the closest “Foxtel” experience you will get without actually having Foxtel.
Yeah I tried it, but wasn’t for me either. Have gone back to my Google TV (plugged the antenna back in my TV) for downstairs. And upstairs I just use the Amazon Firestick. Much better options.
Hi, is there a way can we watch binge now if we don’t have Hubble ?
If you signed up via Hubble to Binge, you will need to sing up a new subscription, if you do not have hubbl anymore
I like fetch tv because it mixes live free to air tv with 50+ pay tv channels for $12 month, it’s a great Foxtel replacement
everybody hubbl'n!!!!
Thanks for the 'Heads up' T M P 👍.
Brilliant!! Great review! Love seeing fellow Aussie’s
Thanks for this very helpful information!
Eh, Shield TV is still amazing but price point is a little high, CCwGT is the way to go for affordability and features.
Out off all the streaming services I find binge the least attractive here in Australia
seems like foxtel just doing a bunch of foxtel things.... disappointed but not surprised.
A piece of technology created by a committee - pointless.
I used a nuc to make my dumb TV smart, not as user friendly but certainly more versatile, now I have a smart tv, the only thing missing from it is kayo, which I use my ps5 for, this hubbl thing just sounds more like a scam to me, hence why foxtel are not putting their name to it
I saw all the ads for this but just looks like a huge distraction at best and a scam at worst. I have a Samsung TV and it has heaps of channels available, plus STAN, Netflix and Prime, no problem finding what I want to watch, why would I spend money on this?
Everybody’s hubbl’in
Great video. Now I know what to recommend to my customers and friends - and it’s not this!
OH MY GOD DUDE! It took you 5 minutes to tell us it's got an integrated tv tuner..........
Chromecast with google tv 4k best option for price.
Flexibility for apps.
My choice is a Nvidia Shield TV pro. Fast and snappy.
fyi KODI is my preferred option :-)
It’s not reading your traffic it’s sending out its own tracking traffic that corroborates with the tracking sites your sign up data.
Thank you
hubbl mak perfect use case sense when you a min of stus serving bedrom and lounge room duties with wire lan suppot the other rooms
however true test of the devices like is hoe expandable it its storage capacity
It’s funny foxtel trying to get into the box after they are the reason Australian had to get Apple TVs back when Roku boxes where new in 2011
I didn’t even have to watch this to understand the video quality would be crap
Glad to hear :)
100% agree
Mine won’t connect to my tv
looks like crap! Thank you for your honest demonstration of this trash.
Got a email & an SMS I could get it for $44.50 and I said no because all the apps are on my TV and stack save is a waste because I would only have two.
they just took a uk sky stream puck and slaped hubble on it
If the want to compete they need to make an app and push exclusive content at a competitive price
Ok. So this hardware device is an aggregator of apps? SO.. why do I need a hardware device? Why not just load a "hubbl" app that is software to do the aggregation?
If your TV or protector allows for apps, you won't need a box to do it. You can get the FreeView APK, along with the 5 network and any paid streaming apps and do the same thing. Plus your own choice of launcher APK and you won't have to put up with the Foxtel/Google/Apple garbage launchers.
Hubbl..Hubbl just more trouble just to watch ''Rubble'' (RUBBISH) if you prefer....
One more season of WW2 and I reckon I will be able to narrate, verbatim, every
word spoken from 1939 to 1946....someone suggested I jump from F####L
to Free to Air..... even worse than F####L but it is FREE
best solution is and always will be a Intel NUC mini pc.. you can do anything..
Money allowing :)
The case alone would cost more than an Nvidia shield or a stack of other settop boxes.
@@ktreagus really, i got my last NUC PC for $75 on ebay..
@@ktreagus Add a Plex server with a HDHomeRun box and you got everything covered including FTA TV.
Really good review
Thanks!
My comment got blocked on Sky News Au for calling it a Scam
Sky News is murdoch media, which in turn is well... Hubbl
I think I will stick with fetch tv
Google tv already has this and its better. It includes all apps. Hubble doesnt have stan for example.
Give it around 2 weeks or so :) I believe optus will be a fast follow up along with paramount+
So... Fetch, but worse?
Only good thing about it is that it has Binge and Kayo
Does Sky not know how to advertise broadband.. its not Mb its Mbps..
Sky News Australia blocked my comment and any further comments because I called it a scam on their video.
Thanks for the review BUT I don't like Hubbl. 💩🐕💨
It's a gloryfied Nvidia Shield.
The shield is still the undefeated champion. Incredible that nothing else comes close.
@@SenorNavel I agree and its an awesome emulation machine too :) Yo can play snes, nes, gameboy, n64, ps1 and psp, sega megadrive and master system on it...I've had the shield for years and its the GOAT...my Samsung TV is from 2011 when that one dies, i'll upgrade to a TV with Google TV built in, hopefully its proceesor and iGpu will be more powerful than the Shield.
No. The Shield is better than anything else on the market, if you don't mind the price.
It’s utterly rubbish. It’s no quantum leap forward and so many apps are missing - you get nothing for $100 and as for stacking - laughable when there are so few apps to stack and saving $5 is hardly an ROI on the $99 spent - 20 months to break-even - avoid like the plague.
Fol :
ultra scam
good video, I don't have a Sheep Station so I have ne need for it.
Also great review n well spoken! 👍
