I was jrotc in one competition, my first one to be exact. I was screaming loud and I guess a bit of a tear came out because I had never been screamed by a di. The instructor looked right in my face and with a cold demeanor said, "You want me to pull you aside, boy? I can make sure you're treated right. I'll give you an open invitation to my invisible hell spa." I glanced behind the di to my instructor and he laughed waved for me to say no. I answered him saying it was tears of joy that a di would scream at me. He smirked and told me damn right. After the inspection my instructor told me had I answered anything stupid or not answered he would have smoked me in uniform after inspection.
We have an all volunteer Armed Force. These college students are all ROTC volunteers. Good for all of them! The USMC drill instructors are right out of R. Lee Ermey's "Full Metal Jacket".
Think I'm missing something, the female Staff Sergeants want to be called Ma'am, while the Gunnery Sergeant wanted to be referred to as Gunnery Sergeant not Sir - as they are not officers.
Recruits refer to DI’s as Sir or Ma’am until they become marines then earning the right to call them by their rank. I believe the female DI is correct to have the JROTC kids call her ma’am as they have not yet earned the right to refer to her by her rank.
Tyler Cuthbert Since they are not yet officers and therefore do not yet have any rank, they therefore do not yet get to refer to drill instructors by their rank.
@@donmcc6573- NO...there's not!! Marines just want people to think they train "hard," but I GUARANTEE you that all branches train hard... depending on the MOS and unit!! I've met many tough as nails Airmen, Soldiers, and Sailors!! I'm being 100 percent serious!!!!!
The Marines act like they're the best and they really should understand that the other branches of the U.S. Armed Forces are just as efficient when they are called to duty. This has been proven in the past as well as the present. Personally I think Marine women DI's are disgusting 😆
