I’m in middle school and I’m trying to run the 800m but to make the track team you need a 3 min 800 and I have 3:13 I’m still working for next season track team your videos are so motivating for me to keep pushing and not to give up

This is so cool! I love your attitude. I'm a senior in high school and I started doing club track when I was 8 too, and sometimes I worry that I'm going to burn out or something. So seeing a college senior who has been running that long and still loves it, is really cool. I will be cheering for you this track season!!!

Thanks so much Emma. I am a distance runner. Did it in high school and never committed but back at it in my twenties now. After a year of training I ran a half marathon in 1.55. I am freaking out now because I got a knee injury and have been off for close to 6 weeks. How did you cope with injury? Do you lose muscle mass or cardio fitness quickly? I keep telling myself what has been built in hard work for a year will not disappear in 6 weeks, but still freaking out! Let me know what u think

I am just recovering from a knee injury myself. It has been 2 months for me and my coaches are letting me come back in. Before I was allowed to run again, i wanted die!!! I can't not run! I couldn't do any lunging squatting jumping running or put any significant weight on one leg!!! I could hardly do stairs even and they put me in utter agony! I injured both of my knees and i couldnt use crutches because of this so i had to fight everyday for 2 weeks not to limp. I just worked through it, which i never could have done if i didn't still work out my core and arms. It kept me active and off my knee so that it could heal better and now I can do all of the stuff i couldn't before, but not quite as well or without pain yet, but it is getting better and yours will to. Just keep your mind occupied and work through it. Ps no. I was worries about losing muscle too but i didnt loose it. When u come back in it will take a little to get your body back in shape but it happens so much quicker then u would think! I have been back in for a week and my body is already almost responding as well as before to training. Dont worry. (God knows i did)

Does swimming help running? I always like to swim the day after running to loosen up, even though it uses different muscles.

im currently running a 6:30 1600 as a sophmore in high school and i just dont know if i have what it takes to compete against girls who are running sub-6's. im thinking about quitting because i mentally struggle with the idea "those girls are better and faster than me, i am going to come in last place and embarass myself and team."
i dont want to quit but that anxiety is becoming overwhelming. any tips on what to do???

I ran a 6:28 as a 7th grader, and up until three weeks before I ran that time I could barely break 7:15. My main problem was that I was terrible at pacing and went out way too slow, which is honestly still something I'm working on as a freshman. Although that may not be a problem you have, it's just something to think about. I have no clue what kind of training you do, but if you aren't already I would recommend doing core work a few times a week and focus on making sure that you have good form (the difference between running with bad form and running with good form is huge). Best of luck!

Carlos Mobley my mom has that, I know this is really late. She dealt with the pain for over like a year and a half I believe. She had to go get steroid shots in her feet almost every week , it was a very painful situation. The doctor said Nike’s are a bad shoe to wear if you run or walk a lot apparently so she bought a pair of Asics and her problems started sipping away
