  • Finally, it's time to take on the Advanced Job: Warmaster. This strategy will get you past the Warbringer boss of the Shrine of the Warbringer. This one's a little messier than other strategies, but the skills allow for a more casual approach.
I used the three other Advanced Jobs to beat this boss, get them with my guides:

    Starseer (2nd): • Octopath Traveler - St...

This guide may be years old but I just wanted to thank you for posting it! In preparation for the octopath traveler 2, I’ve been replaying the first game and finishing up some things I never finished which includes the chapter fours and the advance jobs I was deathly afraid to take on after getting my butt handed back to me. I just beat the boss and I found an addition that makes this strategy even more OP.
Give Sealtice to a character with the Starseer class and let them use Moon's Reflection on everyone. When the boss uses attacks that attack multiple times everyone will evade but also attack AND activate their rune. For each single hit that is! Meaning when ONE character gets hit three times, he will attack back three times seperatly and activate the run three times aswell. That's crazy powerful.

Leghold trap really is a helpful skill against all of these bosses. It gives even a slow cleric Cyrus, scholar Ophilia, dancer Alfyn, and hunter Therion time enough to set up and work through the fight. Though it should be noted that with the strategy I used, this gives her enough time to get to the 3 actions per round phase, where her weaknesses shift to sword and the other three elements.

I have just finished a second playthrough where I start getting the advanced jobs at level 35 (I believe even lower is possible). It is not difficult at all if you know how to cheese the boss. The order is the sorcerer, the starseer, the runelord, and the warmaster. Before starting the job, make sure Primrose (or other dancers) has Sealticge's Seduction and as many as people having saving grace.
The trick for sorcerer and starseer bosses is the same. First cast Sealticge's Seduction on your cleric, who will cast Reflective Veil on everyone. Then watch the bosses kill themselves. The runelord is a bit tricky, but the key is basically to have your apothecary cast Rehabilitate in the second phase so that the boss cannot disable your whole team. Finally, make Tressa the runelord and sidestep warmaster to death.
Even without this strategy, with saving grace you can deal with these bosses, so long as you always prioritize safety and use Leghold Trap, you should be good to go.

My strategy was similar to your runelord. Starseer cyrus, cleric Primrose (with enfeeble soldier), runelord Tressa, and sorcerer of your choice for breaking and pomegranate. Tressa provided evasion while the rest set up for max shooting stars. Full enfeeblement, Alephan’s enlightenment on Cyrus, Aelfric‘ Auspices on Cyrus, peacock strut, and max shooting star. Hit for 40,000 six times and it was done. I just tried to weather the storm and didn’t break until I was all set up.
My Cyrus: lvl 60, rune glaive for weapon. Elemental augmentor for accessory. He received every magic nut. Support skills were surpassing power, SP saver (probably not necessary), elemental aid, and augmented elements. The other team members had patience for the potential to act again at the end of the turn.
Like I said, a variation on your runelord strat so hats off to you for giving me the idea.

  • @CrimsonStigmata
    @CrimsonStigmata Před 5 lety +1

I ran the same team but with H’aanit hunter/warrior for the leg trap ability to make the boss go last when they aren’t stunned.
This fight really isn’t really melee friendly so unfortunately she kind of has to fill support role here with breaking with melee weapons.
    Patience
    Sp saver
Melee and Magic switch from Runelord forgot the name. The reason for this is to work in conjunction with Tressa’s rune buff. After a melee hit a rune spell will go off and it scales with the attackers elemental damage. So you want to either stack weapons with high magic attack and elemental damage modifiers or use this ability from Runelord to maximize damage.
So if you are running Magic weapon build then you can sub this out for something else. Like elemental magic and defense up from Runelord.
Max damage from Warrior forgot name.
Therion Cleric/Thief healer SP battery and healer divine skill to Cryus to make him attack twice on the same turn.
    Sp saver
    Patience
Show goes on or whatever it’s called it’s from Dancer.
Saving Grace can sub this out for Thief skill that does damage when you do non damage moves. Forgot the name of it.
    Primrose StarSeerer/Dancer Dancer divine
spell on herself to spread BP regen spell on whole party.
    BP eater
    Patience
    Max damage
Elemental damage and defense up from Runelord
Cyrus Sorcerer/Scholar There for the broken damage.
    Elemental damage up from Sorcerer
Elemental damage and defense buff from Runelord
    BP eater
    Max damage from warrior
Tressa Runelord/Merchant to support the party and make it untouchable with merchant skill sidestep.
    Patience
    Max damage
Show must go on Dancer ability to make buffs last one turn longer
Elemental damage and defense up from Runelord.
So basically you want to use Dancer to spread BP Regen Spell from StarSeerer to the whole party to make use of BP eater.
Cleric divine spell on your main damage dealer which is Cryus.
Tressa to nullify all melee attacks from the boss and to spread elemental rune on the party when she doesn’t need to refresh sidestep for the party.
Once you have everything set in place you can focus on just nuking the boss down and refreshing the buffs when they start to fall off. With the Dancer ability that buffs the duration of buffs you should have more time to DPS.

I accidentally ran into Warbringer just today and beat her on my third try (I'm not done the game yet). I basically just outlasted her with Warrior!Alfin (protagonist), Cleric!Cyrus and a lot of items. Mage!Olberic with Patience and Second Serving and Alfin's Concoct did the majority of shield breaking for me while Merchant!Therion let me spread BP around and keep Warbringer under near-permanent Physical Attack Down. Once I broke her, I would let Olberic (and Alfin sometimes) just let loose with Brand's Thunder and Surpassing Power, managing to do nearly 20k per hit if Olberic had Attack Up while Warbringer had Defense Down.
And poison. LOTS and LOTS of poison (which has basically been my main boss strategy since the start of the game when I realized how strong Poison status is on bosses).
That is a great extra boss battle. And it was the first one I ran into so I was entirely unprepared for the ass-whooping during the first 2 failed attempts (attempt #2 had her at ~9000 HP before War Cry just killed my entire party from full HP).

I completely cheesed this fight with Runelord Tressa. She just spammed Rune Transfer followed by Sidestep, rinse and repeat. Winnehild never touched me beyond the second turn. I was able to be super leisurely with my strategies, sometimes letting turns pass just because, so that I could get full BP. With a boosted sorcerer (along with the Cleric divine skill that allows him to hit twice) I was doing 40,000-60,000 damage every break and she didn't really stand a chance. for me i use Cyrus as a Sorcerer, Ophilia as a Starseer, Therion as a Cleric, and lastly Primrose as a Merchant. on the first round is to overheal and break the boss shield. after that is the prepare phrase use all boost to boost Cyrus with divine Cleric skill, Elem.atk boost, debuff the boss elemental shield, max BP Cyrus and then we are good to go. the boss should be dead at around round 4 to round 6.

Yet to face Warbringer which I will in a couple of hours... I messed up the first playthrough by feeding nuts to random characters. But not this time this time mt characters are well rounded...

There is a strategy that seems to be missed when using Tressa Runelord - Transfer Rune - Sidestep.
If you happen to have any extra Transfer Rune on Tressa be sure to use Ice Rune to give your entire party the ability to deal ice damage chipping the bosses shield much faster.
Extra note. With Surpassing Power on your Scholar / Sorcerer, you can deal more than 9999 damage just with the Ice Rune's Buff from Tressa.
I've tested it on Cyrus/Merchant and if you properly equip him with the best Elem Atk. Weapons.
He can certainly deal past that 9999 damage.
Step 1: Feed your party with 6 to 9 Side Step Buffs from Tressa - Transfer Rune - Sidestep Method.
Step 2: Get Winnehild's Shield Broken
Step 3: Make sure Tressa has at least one or more Transfer Rune Buff.
Step 4: With any Character give Tressa Energizing Pomegranate (L) to Massively Restore her BP.
Step 4: Have Tressa safely use her Ice Rune MAX Buff on the entire party.
With Ice Rune on every party member, they're allowed to deal extra weakness damage, and chip the shield down faster than before.
There is barely any preperation prior to the battle.
As long as you maintain your Tressa- Transfer Rune - Sidestep - Ice Rune, dodging every attack, and being able to buff every character with Ice Elemental Damage weakening the boss further.
I used Cyrus/Merchant, Olberic/Apothecary, Ophilia/Dancer and Tressa/Runelord. To easily beat Winnehild, Just make sure you equip the best gear possible for each character.
Now you could use anyone and give them the Sorcerer/Scholar/Cleric Subclass and use Tressa / Runelored for more shield chipping, and stick to the plan and Transfer Rune - SIdestep then ever so often give everyone the Ice Rune buff.
Doesn't seem like this guide or any guide ever mentions Transfer Rune - Ice Rune to fully maximize Weakness and Shield Chipping damage.

    Alphn/Cleric
    Primrose/Sorcerer (Scholar will do)
    Tressa/Runelord
    H'aanit/Warrior
This build is focused on Alfyn using concoct for +2 BP (This recipe is just purifying dust+essence of pomegranate) Primrose, Tressa and himself. Turn 2 (or turn 1 depending on who goes first) Primrose uses her divine skill on Alfyn, Alfyn uses reflect on all party members for max BP (turn after). Tressa uses unboosted transfer rune turn 1 and max boost turn 2. H'aanit uses leghold trap turn one. Turns 3 and 4, H'aanit and Primrose damage deal, turn 3 tressa uses a rune (unboosted), turn 4 she boosts misstep and spams it until transfer rune is gone. Turn 3 alfyn uses concoct, if you get a patience use concoct again, turn 4 use cleric divine skill on Prim, Turn 5 use the last of your BP on reflect.
Any time alfyn has a patience, use concoct, unless circumstances require another reflect or divine skill. Feel free to use essence of plum as needed as well, if a fight really drags on.
Suggested passives are Show goes on+persistence+fleetfoot for Tressa, elemental edge and augment elements are optional if you don't need the extra time on transfer rune or any elemental runes.
Alfyn: Persistence, fleetfoot and patience (one flex passive).
H'aanit: Elemental edge, augment elements, surpassing power and patience. Feel free to swap out one for persistence if you need the coverage, usually I use the down time on rune buff to put down another leghold trap.
Primrose: Augment elements, elemental edge, surpassing power, and BP eater.
If you want to sacrifice turns with prim for buffs, swap elemental edge for BP eater on H'aanit.
This is my take no damage build, it's really effective if you can survive the initial set up round. I haven't lost a fight with it yet. If you're matching someone with a dispel, you can swap persistence out with saving grace. Persistence is only there to give the party more damage options for longer when or if they run out of BP, via runes. Outlast the dispel and then buff the party.
Consider giving this a try if you do a final boss guide. Turn H'aanit into a warmaster obviously.

    Poison the boss.
T.RUNE or dancer divine one merchant and side step
Let's poison kill her while you attack. Don't break her. That makes her get weapons
Rinse and repeat till poison gets her to 1HKO health.

Using a magic-based job as a secondary job.

I think really only one advanced job is necessary for this boss. That’s runelord and have it equipped to Tressa. The runelord ability transfer time allows her to transfer the merchant ability sidestep to her allies. And then dark rune is good. After completing it I find the warmaster class underwhelming compared to the others.

    • @AnamanaCh

It's sad to see that "cheese" is the most reliable way to beat this boss. I beat the sorcerer on the first try, starseer 2/3 tries and runelord was fine, but this boss is something else. Even while debuffing her attack and buffing my party's defence she still shreds with her five/six actions per turn towards the end. It's basically her final form and her shield gauge goes up to TWELVE smh. I'm grinding up to the high 50's then I'll try again. I didn't want to be spoiled, but I want to watch till the end to see if it's even worth it when I have story to do....

    • @AnamanaCh
      @AnamanaCh  Před 5 lety

The videos are in an order. Probably just like other video makers have done. Mine are in order of Sorcerer, Starseer, Runelord and finishing with Warmaster.

    • @RicoLen1
      @RicoLen1 Před 5 lety

How do you tell what the order is?
Maybe you could also put a note up at the start of the video that links to the other boss fights and alerts the viewers that there IS an order? Or maybe you should number them in the title? Something like: "Octopath Traveler - Advanced Job #4 Warmaster Location & Boss Tactics" Or some such thing?
I searched through about 10-12 other videos that had strategies on how to beat the other bosses, and your Sorcerer video is the only one I saw that didn't use elite jobs. Until I found that video I was getting really frustrated, because Warbringer was the first boss I came upon, and I couldn't beat her. After looking through all the videos I could find I finally found your sorcerer video and went and discovered that shrine and beat that boss and then the rest were easy.
Just an FYI. Since the Warbringer was the first boss I found that was the first boss I tried to beat, and looking at the videos it's not obvious that there is an order unless you watch them 2 or 3 of them.
This video was actually really good once I learned there was an order, over the last couple hours I've been able to clear all 4 of the shrine bosses. Without an elite job though, I was beginning to think Warbringer was the new emerald weapon! lol I was seriously getting frustrated. :p

    • @AnamanaCh
      @AnamanaCh  Před 5 lety

I think the biggest focus I’ve had is clear narrative voiced on the video. Cause I know that I’m not a fan of text videos or plain videos without any direction of what to do. But this is a good idea for future videos like this!
