....ya........ppq is just sensible that's all........and if that steel clone clogged like that, it means not to get in mudd like that any other than a loose margins ak......
@@SectionChief the px4 is beretta. But the pt92 specifically was a Beretta plant and beretta sold the plant to taurus cause it would be too expensive to move everything so all taurus had to do was fire up the machines.
The reason the PPQ did not fire was because there was water inside the striker channel which would act as a buffer and slow the striker down to the point where it would not ignite the primer. After the slide was racked, the water was able to escape and the PPQ continued to fire.
I was going to say the exact same thing I only own three pistols px4, g17, and the p07. I noticed that my g17 had the same problem but I fixed It a while ago I just bought an aftermarket striker so it doesn't act like a piston
+Jon Hammett Spot on! The Navy version has a hole drilled into the striker channel to relieve the pressure; along with some cuts in the spring retainer to allow the water to flow more freely. I have considered milling a groove in mine to see if it solves the problem.
+EthosAtheos Might be worth it if you were a cop or someone that might conceivably encounter a marine environment gun battle, otherwise, who gives a shit if it won't fire right out of the bathtub.
this is the best test i have ever seen online even when i was in the army we never tested handguns like this!!! excellent testing. i was just about to buy that cz too....
I'm a long time CZ shooter! To not buy it because of this test is ridiculous! They are accurate, super dependable, with a great trigger! If your putting a pistol through these rigors your doing something ridiculous and wrong! Protect your gear and it will protect you!
Well I definitely remain comfortable trusting my PPQ. The first shot failure rate kinda sucks, but it cycled surprisingly well. I'd love to see a G19 go through that exact test alongside the PPQ. Thank you for posting! Very interesting.
I agree, I was impressed with the PPQ overall. I would like to test a Glock but I don't own one nor do any of my friends that are willing to throw it in the mud... good pistols just not for me.
Thanks for posting a genuine "torture test" video. Good illustration of why handguns are generally less reliable than rifles/carbines. I agree that the PPQ has water in the striker channel. Perhaps another striker-fired gun would have added to the comparison. The must seemed to do in most of the handguns. Thanks for sharing.
Final thoughts....when you have your pistol sitting on your bedside table....don't keep it in a bucket of mud and water....just a regular tabletop is fine
Raven, jennings, and bryco .25acp mud torture test next? Oh wait, they don't need any mud to jam up just load em full of bullets and they'll find a way to jam on their own. What yall think about that feed ramp on the cz? Is there any other pistol with a feed ramp that long?
Thank you, i am not that big of a walther guy but none of the other guns were submerged long enough to get the air out of them. Pointless doing a test if they are not all treated the same
***** They all were pretty submerged if you ask me. The first round the PPQ was in the water longer, about 9 seconds vs about 6 on the others which was a mistake, but the second round, they all were under for around 17 seconds, and none of the hammer fired guns had a misfire on the first round like the PPQ did on the first round (about 9 seconds under water) and on the second round (about 17 seconds). I love CZs and its still my preferred carry guns, but I gained new respect for the PPQ and Taurus.
I figured the PX4 would do a little better, and the PPQ is an updated version of the venerable P99, the PPQ without the navy modifications will always fail to fire the first round after it's submerged, because of water around the firing pin, kinda like the Glock without maritime spring cups.
Also, they are using steel cased ammunition. Nothing wrong with that for plinking, but you would never use cheap steel cased ammo in a self-defense situation. It's oxymoronic to claim like the man does in the end that you would be sol in a self-defense situation when in fact they are not even using quality brass fmj ball ammo - let alone self-defense ammo.
Forget all the hate in the comments, I thought it was an interesting and informative test. I carry a CZ and I was worried about the mud once you brought it out. The slide sitting on the inside like that is bound to be more prone to locking up due to debris, but on the flip side its one hell of an accurate pistol with that design.
New sub I am thankful you don't kill animals I would have subbed along time ago I thought from the title you would hunt foxes.my fault thanks for sharing this wealth of info.100 thumbs up thanks.Ihope you make more like this.
Awesome video! Great torcher test. Big fan of all those models. I think after getting my first shot off I would rinse my gun off in the muddy water to at lease minimize the major grit causing the failures. I agree PPQ cycled better but bad guy would have done you in after a first shot failure. like I said though, great test! Moral of the story avoid mud with all models...except sig ;)
If you gum up the slide with clay laden mud, and it gets into the guide rails, unless you have a super heavy spring on it, most guns are going to have issues. Gotta use some of that water to wash at least a little of that grime out of the rails.
good night, congratulations on the video. can do this again using the Glock pistol, Taurus G3, Rex zero 1, and Rex delta. Taurus thc. thanks in advance.
Great video, great torture test on the guns. Showing how they can still fire after being dragged through mud and water. Its interesting watching the ability of these guns fire in crap conditions. Can you do a glock next?
I'm betting the ppq still had water in the firing pin and was merely a light primer strike. Consider it still worked after you cleared the FTF. Next time if you could see the primer strikes to know if it was or not.
prayerfully you will never be in a situation where youre up to youre waist in mud with only one of these handguns at the mercy of a terrible gun fight if so you have been warned. Also thats a lot of mud on these weapons more than normal. So the key is keep your weapon cleanedand test it to make sure it will cycle.
Interesting Video. Although, not all the guns were in the mud for the same amount of time I like the PPQ better despite not firing the first round because of the striker. I think that a Glock or Sphinx would perform better under the same conditions.
Man. Imagine being in the woods in a muddy terrain with a killer chasing you and just realized you have to dig a hole with your pistol? ...you are in trouble. This is so fucking stupid
the ppq is jaming the first round because the water in the striking mechanism is pushing against the firing pin's cups creating a lot of resistance almost like a plunging motion and this doesn't allow the pin to strike the primer hard enough. This is why a lot of people install maritime cups that have holes in them or aren't complete circles going around the firing pin. That way when you pull the trigger that first time and the striking mechanism is full of water, it can pass through the holes or cut parts of the maritime cups and the pin can still strike the primer with enough force to ignite. The PT92 failed because it's all metal and those extremely tight tolerances are a lot less suited for dust, grime, mud, dirt, than the larger tolerances of a polymer framed hand gun. honestly don't know why the px4 and p-09 failed... i believe it's just lack of quality compared to the ppq seeing as how they're also polymer framed hand guns.
There's also the possibility that it has something to do with the fact that the pistols which choked were all hammer-fired. Maybe something about the way striker-fired handguns are built makes their slides less likely to get bogged down by mud? Glocks and PPQs tend to do pretty well with this sort of test, hydro-lock issues aside. I mean, this is hardly conclusive, but that was one of the main distinguishing features of the PPQ versus the other pistols. Maybe this channel should do another test with some more striker-fired pistols to see if there's a consistent pattern of greater resistance to mud, or if it's just the PPQ specifically that works well. Part of the reason I'm thinking this is CZ handguns are very high-quality, especially relative to their price, and Berettas are pretty solid, too. It may have more to do with minute design differences than the materials used. After all, the (in)famous Rex Zero 1 handled a similar test on the MAC extremely well despite being metal-framed, specifically aluminum. It was also hammer-fired, which casts some doubt on my own guess.
I gotta ask..... Who the hell would pick up ANY firearm, in any situation, that's completely filled with sand and mud and not try to clear it first before shooting? With a plugged Barrel, the gun could blow up in your hand. I mean, Jesus. You can't tell me on a battlefield, there won't be another pick up that would be in better shape than a gun that you found buried in the mud? LOL. I love these torture tests, but any gun could jam up with that much shit in it
that's why I carry ppq. yes I have glock, sig, ect ppq just works amazing trigger and it's ready to shoot out of the box just add hd night sights and ready to go. watch same test on glock,xd,92, on vso channel and they fail worse. ppq is best and navy has maritime cups further more vp9 fails same mud test till it won't funt ion at all. ppq all the way
There are a few times in this video where you're racking the slide and/or shaking the gun around with your finger on the trigger. I know this probably isn't how you usually go about using your guns, but I figured it'd be worth pointing out so maybe you'll be more conscious of it if you do these tests again. Cool video though. :)
joash480 Just like all cars, appliances, machines, computers, any other type of weapon, material (house-building materials for example), pets/animals and humans (in our case, both physically and mentally as well). Everything can be broken or disabled. Just needs the right circumstances.
Gee. Next time I want to dunk my handgun in mud, pack it down in mud, grit and rock. I'll think of this post. It was fun to watch though. You guys got balls.
who would ever do this you keep your weapon clean always it's your life in a bad case and you want drop it a and do this or you want be around long in combat
Why wasn't Glock in the test? probably would have done the best. I'd love to see a Glock, Sig P320 and HK VP9 in the test as well. Hell why not even a Springfield XDM.
It did a lot worse than the PPQ. It fucking failed. If one really is concerned about water function of the PPQ, all you have to do is buy the Navy model striker retainer parts from Walther for $5. The Navy retainers allow water to exit the striker channel more easily. Trivial solution. The VP9 had more serious issues than that, and it doesn't even have a Navy model.
im not saying anything bad about these guys i just wanted to say this while im here but why isnt there real torture videos cause i want to see will my gun work if im walking to my deer blind and it falls in a puddle for a second not to where its in there for a minute and its all nasty.

Or that a mechanical clock would still work if you threw a few nails in the gears.

Let's not leave out the fact that the least expensive Taurus was the only pistol to fire and lock open flawlessly after the muddy water test.
You're right !
That's the best pistol made by Taurus. The army forces in BRASIL use pt92
Because the pt92 is made from beretta tooling.

I've been eyeballing a ppq navy, and I think I'll buy it now judging by the performance of the ppq in this vid. Thanks for sharing knowledge.
So which one would you recommend buying? I've been considering the Beretta PX4 Storm.
All things considered, your guns did great guys.
Better you than me! I love watching what these things can or cannot take!

Just put more faith in carrying my Walther PPQ M2. Thanks for the video.
+Kory Went to the gun shop to buy mine today but they closed early on Saturday. Going back to get her Monday.
+Ghos7N54. It will be worth the wait. Best polymer gun out their. In my opinion.
The chances of me covering my handgun in mud and then wanting to shoot it is ZERO!
This stuff would never happen but it’s a good test
Note to self...if I ever drop my PPQ in muddy water, rack the first round out lol
+CougarHunter09 I have one as well, and yeah, this has definitely made that point for me. I liked the test.

Try the PPQ Navy M2 that's made for underwater shooting. Then try this test again
bharris134 it has maritime cups.. it won't jam on that first round
You're lucky the ppq didn't fire, you see all that mud coming out of the barrel? I'm definitely buying a ppq now!
In reference to the first round thing, ive noticed many people just train to cycle it when they pick it up so that would fix the first round issue.

A clean weapon works better than a dirty one!.... Who knew?
after more than a year of shopping for the right pistol their is no freaking way i would do anything like that to my po9
another reason why the first shot does not fire, is the safety catch on the trigger, against accidental falls of weapon
That shouldn't affect the first shot provided one actually pulls the trigger!

SA XD would pass both tests
it's a shame the canik beats all those expensive guns in torture tests
The Canik is based on the Walther design.
If you thow dirt in a hammer gun it will fuck up the action. Period. Saying that, i love cz
You should see what happens when you submerge it in wet concrete and let it cure over night.
Where’s the beer
PLEASE DO THIS TO A SIG AND GLOCK. So everybody will know that those reliability hypes are a shit.
thats why we keep our nice guns next to the bed and carry a glock in the swamp.
what to prove to about reliability TAURUS
PPQ win.
I'd would have loved to see the Holy Glock in there.
Chris Artifex this guy Holy Glock lmao

man that p09 was disappointing
Gee. Next time I want to dunk my handgun in mud, pack it down in mud, grit and rock. I'll think of this post. It was fun to watch though. You guys got balls.
Next time don't use steel cased ammo for simple reliability reasons.
the arex zero one would pass
who would ever do this you keep your weapon clean always it's your life in a bad case and you want drop it a and do this or you want be around long in combat
damn what are these pistols, the M16s of handguns? horrible
Hey don't be dissing my m-16.
My M16 was always dependable get your facts straight.

Glock would choke. Mine did. Miserably.
I'd like to see the P320 as well, I'll have to test mine when I buy it later this year.
Tim (military arms channel) reviewed the VP9, it performed basically the same as the PPQ did in this test. Not well with water or mud.
BrassBashers I highly doubt the Glock would fail. Maybe if it dried and gunky, and even then it would still be hard.

Not even test
It is a travesty doing that to the PPQ!!!! The other guns, who cares? Without a Glock in the mix the test meant nothing
should use a slightly more scientific approach. However, thanks for taking the time to give us an idea. Kudos
