- Today I'm talking about parenting, and I need to hear what advice you have for me! How do you manage kids and their messy rooms? We've tried different things, but I think I need to do something new. We have a surprise up in our playhouse, and I'll show a little backyard climber/playset tour before showing you what the surprise is! We have a couple of weeks left of school before summer break, and we're ready!

I think decluttering is probably the first step. The minimal mom has some great videos of her going through her kids rooms with them . Also good storage is essential . My kids are autistic and creative. We have found labelled storage extremely helpful .
I’m so impressed with the bread. I haven’t even had success getting started with the sourdough process. You just motivated me to try again.

Thanks for showing the playhouse. That was me that asked. We might be moving and if we do we will have tons of room for an awesome play set like this
For my daughter, age 9, it's part of her bedtime routine to clean her room. When it's 10 minutes until bedtime I give her a warning and then she has to clean her room, Make sure any devices for school the next day are plugged in, Brush her teeth and put on pajamas. Her room doesn't always look perfect at the end of the night, but I expect at least the entire floor to be clear and then we have cleaning surfaces like her arts and crafts table on a separate chore for the weekend.
Also wondering if a little mini room make over might help motivate them in the decluttering process . Making it a bigger kid space usually helps ❤
I have 7 kids and we clean up after dinner every night. We also keep toys minimal so that clean up isn’t overwhelming even if they have almost all of their toys out.
That playhouse is spectacular! I’m 69 and would still play in /on it if it was near. 😉 Andrew did such a fantastic job on it! #blessedkids! Your breads always look amazing.

My kids are younger. My oldest is 8. For room cleaning, we just do it once per week all the way. But if I see it’s out of hand, I pick a number that they can count to and tell them to pick up that number of items. So the 3yo picks up 10 items. The 5yo picks up 20 items. And the 8yo picks up 50 items. That way, it doesn’t feel daunting and they don’t have the pressure of making it perfect.
I love the idea of picking up a certain number. We do a big room clean every Saturday, but we need to do something to keep it at bay throughout the week!
Pasta salad! So many things you can add to it to change it up!

We have the kids rooms as part of their morning chores, so it’s done every morning after breakfast 😊
This what we do and it’s such a great habit for them to start young. Rooms are always picked up and they end up playing more bc they’re not overwhelmed.
Great idea! Right now I feel like we don’t have time to add something else to our morning, but maybe I need to rethink that.

Ugh. My the bedrooms. Ugh. Mine are SO chaotic.
That's a tough one. When our girls were little, they had so much. Often very messy rooms. When they were 9 and 11, we bought 40 acres and a cabin which meant we had to minimize. They have way less "toys" as they grow older, and it's gotten easier to tidy quickly. Same for my whole house though.
We enjoy pulled pork sandwiches with potato salad, coleslaw and at times with baked beans. On special occasions we will add a no bake creamy pie or an eclair cake. We usually have enough leftovers for another dinner and a lunch. I use my Instant Pot to cook my potatoes. It only takes about 3 minutes to cook potatoes the size you were cutting up. I always seem to have mine boil over when I use the stove top.
That sounds delicious!! I’ve never thought of cooking potatoes in the instant pot but it sounds like a great idea 😊
@@mamatofive1Yes, Instant Pot potatoes are THE BEST! They just have such a smooth texture. Boiled or baked potatoes seem “mealy” in comparison. Definitely give it a try!

I’m not a huge fan of cold salads really. Usually it’s because Mayo tends to be a ingredient and I am not a fan.
My six children are all grown up. Their rooms were cleaned every morning after they got dressed. Beds made and laundry brought down. If they played in their room during the day they had to clean before dinner. It was a daily task for us. You’ll figure out something that works for your family. Thanks
