I understand what you are saying, I was a volunteer fire fighter and first responder for year plus I spend my money for my daughter and I to go to EMT school for the knowledge to better help our community, as it might take 45 minutes to a hour to get a ambulance. Then you have the classes for continuing education in all areas. The family time and sleep you give up along with the money you spend. Most people don't think about it all being volunteer but you will have a few that will thank you for being there in their time of need. Rural areas are so lucky to have families like yours Thank you for your service. It sure is hard going to your paying job after you have been up half the night.
Good evening, Tessie! You totally nailed it! I am seeing my income drop by about $1800.00/mo because I just retired. BUT - I have enough income month over month to pay my bills, buy my groceries and even have a third of my income left over for whatever I want to do with it. I am abundantly blessed and I will be making more careful choices. Right now, my son, DIL and 3 grand kids are living with me and this is such joy that I cannot describe it. They will be moving in a year but in the meantime, I cherish every day! I am having to alter how I cook because of food allergies, but that in itself is a joy because I am learning other recipes and cuisines that I did not have to before. Thank you for all you do.

We have a small auto shop that does simple tire repairs. We are blessed it is only 2 minutes driving time from us. Most of the time, we have minor questions, like today, when the air seemed to be leaking out of the tire, we verified it was not, and only paid a few dollars. Many times, this guy charges nothing for tiny things, but inspects the vehicle. He comes from a great Christian family. It is great that some people just want to make a living without price gouging others.

Hi Tessie I was raised to know growing your own food was important. My grandparents lived right down the road beside us in a farm. We my family lived in a trailer in the next field. I grew up knowing that not everyone is rich you make due with what you have. We weren't poor, but my parents taught me to be humble and grateful. This world we live in is so greedy now. I am glad that some of us can see what is important in this life and while money is nice it isn't everything.

So true. We built a small modest home in a more rural neighborhood to raise our family with our values. Now, over 20 years later, people have started moving in building Mcmansion style and trying to change our HOA. It's so disappointing. Home flippers want our home so badly so they can do the same. I love our home, but sadly, it's time to move on.

Sadly, Nowadays, the American dream of a house with a white picket fence for young marrieds is very, very difficult to make happen....at least where I live. I feel badly for young people starting out. We had to let go of our home & are blessed to have found a place where we could buy a small lot in a camping club & an older RV. It has the trees I prayed for, though, & a little creek out back. We're being held in the palm of God's hand along the I-5 corridor!❤❤❤

Great video. My husband and I made it to retire in a 2600 sf home. Now it's filled with stuff, my son and granddaughter live with me, so more stuff and since I never knew what an HOA was, I'm spending a lot of money just making the lawn look pretty (according to THEIR guidelines). My husband has passed and I'm trying to maneuver it all on my own. So, now my granddaughter and I want to find a small (1300-1600 sf) home (that picket fence would be nice) and we've started purging. No more HOA communities either. Back to the simple things!

What an excellent video!!! The Baby Boomers got hit hard with this philosophy. Partially due to World War II and the Depression. Women had to go into the work force to provide while husband's were serving in the war. However, it started out as a need and then there were wants and from that society started to put people on different levels. Money determined your importance and virtues to society and how equal you were to someone who had wealth. Sad but true. Striving to become wealthy is not a thing for me either Tessie. In my later years I have discovered that I am the happiest when I can keep my eyes on the Lord and not materialism. Don't get me wrong I had materialistic wants also and it took me a few years to realize that money can't buy happieness. Tessie you did an excellent job on this topic. You nailed it!

the problem is or was called keeping up with the jones. I grew up in house that was modest and we had a roof over our head and food in our belly and we have love in our lives. to many people have the cravings for more and more. I live in a mobile home and live a modest life on retirement aka social security.
God is so good and when we don’t chase the treasures this world holds, but instead do His holy work with our lives, then we are building eternal treasures that will last forever. Living a simple life that focuses on the Lord is a beautiful thing, and you do just that. Watching your videos brings peace and happiness to my heart. God bless you. ❤

Tessie, enjoy your catalog. I love looking at all the different varieties. They lost alot of business because they were dishonestly selling GMO seeds. Look into MI Gardener. He has his seed sale right now at great prices. Heirloom and they have great germination. Happy growing.

How true, the simple things like a my favourite coffee( home made) I know your not a coffee fan but that is definitely one of my simple pleasures. My grandchildren's hugs and kisses. Taking a walk and taking in all the beautiful scenery, greenery, birds etc even the dry summers here in Australia are still beautiful to me. We have so much to be grateful for and so much to be thankful for. God is good❤

What an excellent video!!! The Baby Boomers got hit hard with this philosophy. Partially due to World War II and the Depression. Women had to go into the work force to provide while husband's were serving in the war. However, it started out as a need and then there were wants and from that society started to put people on different levels. Money determined your importance and virtues to society and how equal you were to someone who had wealth. Sad but true. Striving to become wealthy is not a thing for me either Tessie. In my later years I have discovered that I am the happiest when I can keep my eyes on the Lord and not materialism. Don't get me wrong I had materialistic wants also and it took me a few years to realize that money can't buy happieness. Tessie you did an excellent job on this topic. You nailed it!
You are absolutely right Tessie. There are so many scams out there. You are rich in the way you live. I am absolutely so envious. Alaska is still waiting for that Tessie garden.
the problem is or was called keeping up with the jones. I grew up in house that was modest and we had a roof over our head and food in our belly and we have love in our lives. to many people have the cravings for more and more. I live in a mobile home and live a modest life on retirement aka social security.

we all have to get back to bare bones living. I just got my home owner's insurance renewal and it went from $1,099/yr to $1,592/yr. My house taxes went from $991 to $4,312. We have no choice now but frugal living. Great video and advice Tessie. Freddy in Arkansas.
