Can you please tell me more about electrolytes you were talking about??? Thank you
Mustard works wonders for me! This goes with your “crazy” pickle juice.
I am 70 and have had leg cramps all my life, even as a child. I have had some relief from magnesium and from iodine, but never totally got rid of them, especially when eating any sugar. I have recently been taking glycine and have not had a cramp anywhere since, even when eating sweets. I have never gone over two days without a cramp, but it has been 3 weeks since I discovered glycine and no cramps.
Would you please share how much glycine do you take? TYIA.
I take about 1 tablespoon in warm water two to three times a day. I use the powdered glycine. It looks just like sugar and is sweet but no calories.
Never heard of ingesting glycerine. Where is it purchased? In health food stores?
I recently went to foot doctor, he suggested to sleep with my feet up higher than my heart to stop nighttime leg cramps and IT WORKS! So far it’s been a week & no cramps! But for a former side sleeper, it takes time to get use to sleeping in my back… still a small price to not be woken up by pain.
It's not glycerine, it's glycine. It's an amino acid and I buy the powder from amazon. It comes in a 2lb brown bag and is the Pure brand. It looks and tastes like sugar but has no calories.
Muscle cramps are really hard to figure out what causes or triggers them. Dehydration is a major factor for me. Plus I have seen a relationship to having sugary foods before bed. I usually don't have sugar/carbs but when having dinner out ending with cake and ice cream almost always triggers leg cramps that night. I take magnesium malate every morning and then will take a smaller dose of a different form of magnesium before bed if I think I might have a leg cramp. That has changed things for me. Thanks for the information.

Agree about the smile and energy
Update. (You can read my original post below.) Neither pickle juice nor apple cider vinegar had an affect -- other than messing up my digestive system. Maybe vinegar helps people whose cramps have a different origin. My cramps happen at night. They're less likely to happen on days when I exercise. Stretching before bed helps. I suspect it has something to do with nerve impingement in my lower back.
Here's what I wrote previously:
Pickle juice! From what I've read, it's the vinegar in the pickle juice that makes it work. Why vinegar? The acetic acid in the vinegar has an immediate affect on the part of the brain that causes cramps -- cramps being neurological in origin. So I'm keeping a bottle of apple cider vinegar next to my bed. I'll post an update next time I get a cramp.
Thanks.for the info. You have a smile which is infectious.
I'm a roofer, with drop foot, I'm always upright and on pitch...lumbar issues triggered the foot drop...double sciatica healed by core strength...I think the quinine tonic water has been the only help...also, a full bladder is a trigger, if I dont piss before bed and fall asleep I will wake up in cramp...I need some yoga, hamstrings are always tight since childhood.
Thank you for your advice and enjoyed your presentation.
Thank you love your explainations, thank you Doc it help alot.

Very very amazing tips thanks so much
Thank you for very important information.I always have leg cramp at night.thankyou again.
I use dill pickle juice or green olive juice... when you are in the middle of a leg cramp the juice will relieve it almost immediately... I now put electrolyte drops in my water each time I fill my thermos...The electrolyte drops prevent the muscle cramps...
! tbsp of yellow mustard works within minutes!
Thank Doc good stuff. From South Africa. I need that.
BIG THANKS.

Thank you for the information
As a teenager I sometimes would get alternating leg cramps at night. Next day in school, I would hardly be able to walk. My P-E teacher never really believed me. But those next day after effects were painful. My main method to fix my cramps was massaging and beating them out. That takes time, which is why I had so much pain the next day.
My preferred method these days is stretching. Grab your toes, pull towards you and straighten your leg. You force the cramps to stop.
Sometimes when my wife gets cramps at night, I hardly wake up, just grab her foot and straighten her leg. Takes seconds, and I’m back to sleep.
Condolences to you! P.E. teachers NEVER believe you about anything; especially if you complain of pain. You are right about pulling the toes towards you; works for me.
😊
My calves always hurt after cramps. I had both legs cramp last night (5am) and I could hardly walk afterwards. Trying magnesium tonight.
@@peter7624 are you on carnivore ? It might help taking magnesium and potassium supplements for a month and make sure eggs are in your diet

A sandbox will net u cat poop. Ha!

Thanku very much for the video it was very helpful
Yep, that’s more my problem! I sit all day at work. I got a stand up desk which helps a lot! And a lot more leg exercises helps a lot!
Pickle juice really helps me, but I’m going to try the electrolytes and bicycle riding. Thank you for this list of what you can do for leg cramps@. 😊
water is the master of all with a few drop of apple cider vinegar
After a lifetime of severe cramping I was prescribed Clonazapam 2mg before bedtime along with gabapentin 300 mg. Both have helped decrease cramps from 3 -4 nights weekly of painful cramping to maybe once or twice a month. My cramps have caused me to black out from the pain so it can be very serious and cause lots of other problems. One of my blackouts caused 3 broken ribs.
I use to take Clonazepam before sleep that made me black out and full.
Thank you,God bless you
Any one heard of using yellow mustard? I had a very bad cramp and was told take mustard. By gosh it worked instantly.
I sometimes get leg cramps at night and I do drink plenty of water but I’ll try something else to. Thank you!!
GM Beautiful Day i love it th u for sharing GB u sir.i am surfering night leg cramps.
My foot cramp nearly every 3 days please help.Than you for sharing this wonderful video
V useful information thanks
I started with horrendous hamstring cramping about 7 months ago and so far nothing has stopped them. They all began a few months after I began donating plasma so the initial thought was electrolyte deficiency and dehydration but increasing both hasn't helped. I stretch every day and I walk to/from work (12km) every day so it is not due to lack of motion. The only thing that brings relief is to use my TENS machine but it's not possible to sleep this way so I have to wait until it ends and this has caused a definitive reduction in the quality of my sleep. I've always been a side sleeper as laying on my back hurts my lumbar area quite a lot. TBH I have just gotten to the point where I've accepted that I'm never going to have a good night's sleep again and I'll spend the rest of my life living in pain.
Thanks for sharing very interesting
You are great.
Like. Others.. I like your smile, aside your info. Good luck doctor.
I think you are right I have this problem had an ultra sound yesterday for this and it didn’t show any blood clots I feel better about the results so I need to stop sitting too long and get out walking Thanks for your information
i walk a lot but i still get the cramp i think he is saying drink fluid yes lots of water help
Thank you for your enthusiastic video and trying to help we sufferers of nocturnal cramps. I first saw this 2 weeks ago and took on board your recommendations. However, I'm not doing too well...in that time I've had cramp in one or both legs at the same time or in my feet too most nights. I haven't got an exercise bike but as have bilateral hip replacements (1 cemented, 1 not) I find bike riding can cause groin cramp. I'm at an absolute loss what to do next as have tried and do it every day, the stretches, eat certain foods stay off others, drink apple cider vinegar in my water and drink 12 ozs of that throughout the day as well as drink plenty of other water. I only have 1 cup of tea a day and occasionally a coffee a few times a week. I even bought that expensive Caleb Treaze ACV with ginger and garlic to no avail.. Heck that stuff is hard to take neat too, getting the top off the bottle when you're in excruciating pain is no mean feat! I have moved every 15 minutes as recommended by many...I drink tonic water before bed...I have a product with 14 essential oils in it that I put on before bed and during cramps...I tried 1 bar of soap...painkillers before bed, plus a banana, listening to sound frequencies and healing meditations and hypnosis on here (those really do help btw) but nothing really stops them or eases the severity. I'm seeing my GP in 4 days time...if this is due to my herniated discs and stenosis as well as scoliosis, is surgery my only answer? I am at my wits end as this is impacting my quality of life so much now. Driving, walking, standing to cook or emptying the dishwasher etc all aggravate it and my legs and feet are threatening to cramp constantly. Sorry to be a moaning Minnie but anything else you could suggest perhaps please? My GP isn't a functional doctor so I am not holding out much hope for a great outcome but he may be able to add some leverage to the waiting game for my neurosurgeon appointment. I'm not a suitable candidate for amitryptalline either due to having an auto immune condition which would be aggravated by it. I'm not an advocate for medications, would much rather find a natural method to heal. 🤞🙏 Maybe 3 bars of soap is next...😁
Sunny7 i am also suffering with leg cramp i use tonic water but it did not help so i put mental cristial in rubing alchole and apply it when i get the cramp . also drink magnisum 500g every day
@@bebiramsarran2529 I've found a great deal of help in Magnesium oil spray...I put it on before bed and also again if I do get the cramp..I bought it on Amazon after reading many great reviews. Perhaps try that or Magnesium butter?
And don't know if you are Christian? But go to a church that does healing prayer..its amazing..Jesus still goals!
Heals!
try ropinirole...4mg up to 14mg
Pickle juice works great for me. I use Bob's Pickle Potion # 9, myself. The trick with pickle juice is not to sip it; gulp it down as quickly as you can. It takes a few times to get used to it but eventually, you get the hang of it. I also keep a folding walker by my bed at night. When I start to cramp, I get up quickly, place my weight on my other leg, while supporting myself on the walker. I gently start swinging my cramped leg slowly for a minute or so and the cramp begins to release.
I rub Mine . I will try that. Thanks .
@Albert Meza ~ I have found powdered organic pickle juice online. I mention this because (for me) having pickle juice at my bedside for the event of needing it for leg cramps and it does not need to be refrigerated as it can be quickly dissolved in plain water and drank when needed. I wish you success in conquering the dreaded night cramps.
@@yardner1963 Could you please provide a link for the powdered pickle juice

Yes to pickle juice, eat a pickle or two a day, it helped us. Now we just have a top up and now drink a magnesium drink each night.
Yes pickle juice definitely works for leg cramps.
Also Tonic water with quinine in it works great
I by the six packs of Canada dry tonic water and keep one on night stand if I worked hard that day.
But I recently was working. I'm in construction so I'm outside in the sun sweating a lot and going up and down ladders all day. My legs get a big workout. So I noticed on the way home my hands stated cramping to the point I had to pull over. I couldn't steer the truck. So I got out and stretched enough to get home safely. I researched and I've tried them all.
So this one day when I was cramping in my arms and hands, I grabbed some apple cider vinegar drinks I recently purchased. It was cold out of fridge . Well I guzzled half of it and within minutes I felt great again and had no cramps that night. So I'm starting to drink that each day now .. 🙏🙏
Thank you so much. I hope It will be the end of my crying every night from leg cramps.🙏🏼
Same I also cry at night bc my leg cramps
Thank you so much. Truly It sure has ended my crying every night but I also use 1/2 can tonic water before I go to sleep. The quinine in the tonic is what helps also.🙏🏼
Awww...we're sorry girls. That's a shame. Dam cramps. I have a hot water bottle w a wooly sheep over it. Wish I could give u one. Try the pickle juice or maybe that awful mother apple vinegar would do itvand help us w various other miseries. I can,t forcemyself to drink it-- or take a dam calcium. That stuff plugs me up aNd upsets my gut..

So glad it stopped SimSim.
Quinine is harmful for some reason I can't recall ..Google why.
Would a gin n tonic work? I like those . Ha!!
@@WillChil466 ~ be sure to rinse your mouth and teeth very well after drinking the apple cider vinegar as it can be very harmful to your irreplaceable tooth enamel. You may try molasses to cut the astringency of the apple cider vinegar for drinking.
Thank u for sharing very interesting xx

Its from food additives! !! Especially baked goods from the dollar store & cereals. ( more than 2-3 servings in an 8hr period/ depending on tolerance). Now they are starting to add the substances to thickened dairy products. I discovered this correlation through food elimination diet. Happy to answer any questions on this topic.
Thank you Bella D for your insightful comment. It might be from food additives, but it's also likely from the high levels of sugar and other unhealthy ingredients in those foods. Food additives can certainly aggravate symptoms for people who are sensitive to them, but most cases of food intolerance are actually caused by the unhealthy ingredients in processed foods, like sugar, flour, and unhealthy fats (thickened dairy products). So if you're experiencing problems with food intolerance, it's best to avoid processed foods altogether and focus on eating real, whole foods instead.😀
@@TheSpinery i only have 3 foods at most with supposed clean water, i get cramps i am nearly at middle age i suppose.(none of it dairy or wheat/grains)
i found for some reason eating pizza helped me so perhaps the comment bout baking soda is legit i have to test it, this sucks.
I would not go to bed without pickle juice in my fridge. I have terrible leg cramps at night. I dtink about a quarter cup of pj and in about ten minutes the cramps begin to get better. It definitely works. Been doing it for years.
Last night was the worst cramp..was about to stock up on Magnesium G..and potassium..will include your tips also..I live by the beach..blessings.
Sleep with a bar or two of soap under a covering, helps TONS!!
7:39 is the Philadelphia Eagles playing against the Dallas Cowboys in Irving Texas in September 2000,The field was around 130 degrees and the Eagles drank pickle juice in that game. The Eagles won that day also.

Thank you! I have chronic nocturnal leg cramps.
Although, walking in sand can sometimes cause my cramps to get worse. Not sure why.
hello friend, read about bringing a bar of soap into the bed. I know it sounds crazy, but it worked for me. Finally some thing worked.
Thanks for sharing the tips on leg cromp i am suffering for many years i will try to drink more water because i am person some day i dont drink not a glass of water i will drink tea or coffee not water thanks once again
I had been having cramps in my legs and feet for years. I read every article and listened to so many videos to no avail.
My sister, who is a vegan, had been wanting me to try it for years but I was not interested on ANY level. I finally tried it for a few weeks so she would leave me alone and it was like a miracle for me. I pretty much immediately stopped having cramps.
I am not completely vegan(still eat a little dairy) but I have not put meat back into my diet, and the cramps have stayed away.
Do I want to eat meat, of course. Is it worth the cramps HELL NO!!! Pain will make you change, or lack there of it. Will I ever eat meet again? Most likely. Probably not any time soon and especially not in the US
Great ideas
Glad you like them!
Glad you like them!
Thanks very much !
Tonic water, it has quinine, doctors use to prescribe it here in the USA but it was taken off the market, also wear compression socks, not sure about riding a bike, I do 3 times per week and still have them if I don't wear compression socks
I take magnesium and potassium. I also found that I had painful trigger points all around my shin and the side of my leg. I got a Body Back Buddy cane massager and work on those trigger points regularly. Cramps are all but gone.
I’ve found drinking tonic water stopped my leg cramps. You don’t need much, just a couple of sips. The quinine in the tonic water helps.
I have almost completely eliminated night time leg and feet cramping while sleeping by leaving my sheet/bed cover untucked to allow for easier movement of body parts. Seems to have worked well for me.
I always leave my bedsheet loose.. tightly tucked in definitely causes cramps
I also get leg cramps at night. I have a friend who told me to put a bar soap at the foot of the bed underneath my bed sheet. That helps with leg cramps at night.
