    Uff amazing finally a review of these. I want to buy the ascend but, I want to use another case with it because it has extra features. It is 0.15 inches thick. How thick is the one that comes in the ascend? And do you think 0.15 inch will fit? I just like the extra thickness I’m pretty clumsy. And can you use the keyboard even with the case separated?

    I have the 12.9 inch and have resisted buying the keyboard by Apple because of the price. This is definitely worth a serious look. Your review is a welcome relief by those of us who don't support the "Apple Premium".

    I heard the problem with those alternative is the connectivity issue. Since it’s via BT, it keeps disconnecting and can be annoying in the long run but I guess it’s fine for its price.

    Been waiting for you to review the rebound since I saw it on ESR's website! Always so informative!
    How is the lapability of both rebound and ascend and how does it compare to the logitech combo touch, in your opinion? I have the combo touch and love it but HATE how I can't use it on my lap :(

      @@neoandroid8586 I still have it around, but haven't used it in over 6 months. I got a $200 gift card and I bought an Amazon Renewed Apple Magic Keyboard. The typing experience is better on the Apple keyboard, and never have to wait for the keyboard to turn on with the Smart Connector.
      The Rebound case has the benefit of function keys, magnetic clasp to key the Apple Pencil in place, and provides better edge protection.

    that’s a fantastic accessory. The biggest drawback is the BT connection instead of Apple’s smart connector. But otherwise, great accessory. I’ve been using the Magic Keyboard on my 2018 12.9 iPad Pro and now the 2021 12.9 iPad Pro (yes t works and fits perfectly contrary to Apple’s marketing) and it has been an amazing accessory.

    Thank you for this review. I have an iPro 11 with the Apple Folio case. I bought the Magic Keyboard a couple of years ago. I love the iPad, but the Magic Keyboard drove me crazy. Certain keys would not work, i.e., caps lock, and nothing I tried could correct it. It’s been sitting on a shelf for two years.

      No, not the same like ascend , since in rebound magnet in both edges side only, iPad not attached at centre of case, u can just keep vertical it with support of first rows key, but its not safe and not practicable.

    If only ESR used the smart connector then it wouldve been the perfect alternative. With the magic keyboard you dont have to worry about charging. I would choose the normal buttons over the compelete function keys but no smart connectors.

    A software update that might make you think twice about buying a Magic Keyboard. macOS 12.3/iPadOS 15.4. Currently in beta, this update introduces Universal Control so you would be able to use your Mac's keyboard and mouse to control your iPad.

    Thanks for the review, subbed. A few questions:
    How is the general feel of the Rebound/both? Does the Pleather feel durable, the keyboard deck solid, or is it rather cheap and hollow?
    Also, it seems the case edges extend slightly further from the iPad than the Magic Keyboard; are those edges stiff enough to offer some scratch/wear protection?
    How's the angle for the screen; is it at least as good as the Magic Keyboard?
    Finally, does the iPad screen hit the keyboard or keyboard deck when closed?
    Thanks so much for the reviews.

    • @alexbrunner_Tucker_USA
      @alexbrunner_Tucker_USA Před 2 lety +1

      Jeff, I bought the Rebound last night when I watched the video, got it today, and I’m currently typing on it. It feels like a solid keyboard case. Feels heavier than my 2015 MacBook Pro 13” (not sure that it is). Time will tell if it offers iPad edge protection from the overhanging material. The keyboard deck feels solid as I am typing this out on my lap. I wish it offered more adjustability for viewing angles. The iPad doesn’t hit/drag against the keyboard deck when it closes. For the price it provides great value. I just couldn’t justify splurging on the Magic Keyboard; I almost bought a used Turkish one on eBay because it was cheap. It still would have cost more than the Rebound. I’m glad that I searched for an Magic Keyboard alternative!

      @jeffyu6012 Před 2 lety

      @@alexbrunner_Tucker_USA Hey Alex, Thank You! Sounds like you've had a very positive initial impression; I'm glad you've enjoyed the purchase.
      Do you have the 11" version we'd purchase, or the 12.9? I saw the listed weight at 1.9lbs for the 11, making for a dense, almost 3lb device. Do you find it manageable for potential travel?
      I have the Magic Keyboard from work, and mostly enjoy it as a Macbook supplement, but miss the function row. My partner wants that, and pen protection, and neither of us love the MK's absurd price :D I agree, this/magic keyboard's limited viewing angles are a negative.
      I think I'll order it as well, see if the + 6/10lb over MK/+ 8/10lb over Zagg Pro Keys she's currently trying are dealbreakers. The ESR cases seem great value for the quality/functionality.
      Any other impressions, please don't hesitate. Enjoy your purchase!

    • @alexbrunner_Tucker_USA
      @alexbrunner_Tucker_USA Před 2 lety +1

      @@jeffyu6012 I have the 11” Pro. I think that the weight will be manageable, and I’ll get used to it. I plan on stowing it in my travel backpack when I go to work, walk to the coffee shop near my office, and go on flights.
      The shared function keys with the number row would better than the lack of function row on the magic keyboard, IMO.
      I think this will be a better setup than my previous one. I was sharing my Logitech K380 with my MacBook and used an adjustable stand for the iPad. My stand was hard to travel with and the delay from switching between my devices on the keyboard was getting annoying.
      I like this better than the clamshell/laptop style case with 360 degree and multiple viewing angles that my wife uses with her iPad Air 4. That case is hard to open up and the trackpad is horrendous! Like Nick states in the video the trackpad on the Rebound case is pretty good.
      I think that you’ll find for the price it’s quite decent.

      @@RelataMeWow, I can’t believe it’s been over a year. It was a decent experience with the rebound, but I’m replying using the Magic Keyboard. I like the Rebound’s magnetic clasp that covered the apple pencil and the function keys (I liked the ability to turn the volume up/down quickly and switch the backlit key’s color and brightness with ease). What ended up annoying me was waiting on the Bluetooth to reconnect every time I opened up or came back to my desk after not using it for 10 minutes.
      I received a $200 gift card from my wireless provider and used it to buy an Amazon Renewed Magic Keyboard. I love that I can instantly use the keyboard and trackpad, and the typing experience is much better than the Rebound.
      The Rebound is a solid alternative if you can overlook the annoyances of bluetooth connection and remember to charge the case.

    The Rebound weighs 25 ounces (700 grams) vs the Magic Keyboard's 21 ounces (601 grams), certainly not 2 or 3 pounds. With an iPad Air attached, the all-up weight is about 3 pounds.

    Watching the ESR--that's a pretty decent keyboard case--I have the Magic but know I will eventually replace it due to wear and believed only other feasible choice was the Brydge Max+. Wonder about it in lap as to weighted balance since I use my. 12.9 in lap a lot as I did my Macbook. Less sure about Ascend mainly because of usage (don't think it would work in lap). Also found the Ascend doesn't come in 12.9. No where have I found what the material used for covers. I checked the ESR site for more specs. The other issue for me would be the angle it will set to--which is basically one--But--the price is certainly right.
