I don't normally comment but this one absolutely hit home! My uncles were molested during confession at the catholic church they attended. They carried it down and molested many people in our family. The drugs/alcohol and demons that entered and destroyed many people in our family from this trauma is unspeakable! My grandma and grandpa knew and swept it under the carpet, back in the day you didn't raise the alarm about this type of stuff, you kept it hush within the family. Every single person that was taken advantage of now has issues and covers the thoughts with drugs and alcohol. My mom was one of them but I never held it against her, I loved her for where she was at and had an understanding of the damage that had caused her to become emotionally shut down. If there one thing I can tell you about this type of abuse is you don't need drugs and alcohol to suppress the memories, God kept me. Many people do not want to bring it back into their subconscious to face it and just keep pushing it down, I faced it and gave it to God, it was NOT my burden to carry nor was it yours or anyone else's that this type of stuff has happened to. You're worthy of love, it wasn't your fault and please give it to God!!
You're SO right! I'm so happy you found a way to get past that all and see it for how it DID and COULD affect you, and all your loved ones...and so many others. I wish for anyone going through this, that they can read your words and it resonate in them. Takes a strong mind to step outside and look in and help yourself see things, instead of dwelling inside for so long. I know it's hard to do that for even simple things, let alone a trauma like this. thanks for sharing your experience❤

This is why I don’t trust people with my child. I was baptized catholic but I do not practice Catholicism. The church knew this was happening and in most cases hid it. Shame on those who knew and did nothing!

Sadly our mental health system is a joke littered with red tape! Most can't get the help they need before a traumatic response......drugs, suicide attempts, etc... Then you get thrown into a mental hospital for three days and released...with very little resources to get to the root cause. It's very disheartening!
I hope he does get therapy bc he is open and honest and ready to talk. He finally accepted it and "came out" and feels so much better. Bless his heart. He is truly hurt.

I'm not sure why "the church" hasn't been shut down. These stories are far to common. A friend of mine filmed a documentary, "The Keepers", and the stories he told about the investigation for doing the film are unsettling. Is he telling the truth? I don't know, but I do know good peoples lives have been corrupted by people in an institution that professes goodness.

I watched The Keepers. It led me away from the church. So disheartening that the church knew this was happening and protected the abusers. I felt that if I continued to be a faithful Catholic and contributed any money to the church, I was just as bad as the people who knew what was happening and chose to allow priests to continue to abuse innocent children.

I believe I may be a non practising drag king. I am a heterosexual and born female. I had a molestation incident as I believe probably everyone has had. It does f**k one up sexually but for me it was the familial betrayal that hurt the most and had the longest lasting effects. So, I have found forgiveness is better than resentment of those that did not believe me. Thanks, Richard and as always Mark Laita. 😄

Personally, I'd say money and power brings out the worst. There's nothing like being able to fuck over hundreds, thousands, millions, or billions of lives.

I went to catholic shcool in primary once a week a priest would take a Portuguese girl who was in a grown woman's body into the church.The nuns knew us kids knew.

Hi Richard, I hope you get to read some of the more supportive comments made here. You should feel proud that you have found a self soothing/coping mechanism that works well for you and I hope you can kick the drugs or they at least don't take over your life. Dangerous game. I can see you are clearly reflective on all the parts of yourself. You're clearly a creative person with deep consciousness and intelligence. Stay happy and safe, and try to maintain contact with your daughter and ex.

Never pays to put too much trust in others the people you’d expect to have your best interests very rarely do.. poor guy seems trapped at a certain age in his mind.
Arrested development or cognitive/age regression is a common response to extreme trauma.

Even tho people with common sense already know that this type of behavior is a mental health issue, and even tho Richard himself admits that his propensity to dress as a woman likely stems from a childhood trauma, we, as a society, nonetheless reject mental health care solutions for these people, and instead (for some insane reason) continue to promote, celebrate, and normalize this lifestyle. I hope Richard gets the help he deserves. I wish America was still a decent place to live and raise a family.

Except that it isn’t always a mental health issue, not by a long shot. The world is not black and white, nor should it be.
People with common sense realize this, don’t pass judgment, and are instead happy to live and let live because what clothes people wear and what they like people to call them is in no way harmful to others.

The last job I had before detransitioning was at the VanNess Recovery House, it was yrs sgo. I also facilitated a large group of trans people and did outreach with them. In that group I fascilitated i recall one truck driver who is a straight hetero married crossdresser who said his wife supported him going to the groups. And on another note I keep hearing that a lot of homeless people get situated with a long-term residence I'm currently in San Diego any program that expects me to pay close to $1,000 of rent and being on SSDI so I'm getting a notice at to leave by the end of July and look at coming to Los Angeles to see what help I can get. I do have a van that I was living in before and would be willing to sell it if I can find one of those permanent resident help or I could pay 1/3 of my income. I will homeless again but Does anyone have any recommendations on any of these residential programs for me please? Who do i call or talk to? Im NOT going to a shelter either!
THOSE law suits have time limits..longer for criminal shorter for CIVIL...they are long but not forever long and for CIVIL money cases considerably shorter

For example Danny masterson and all the Jane Doe' s who cried rape , all at his house when they were given ample opportunity to LEAVE and MORE than ample warnings to not go , and SOME who already have been paid off multiple times already. I remember when I was in preschool and the teachers had a box of "fancy" clothes for dress-up, and they kept trying to tell me the high heels weren't for boys. I didn't understand why. I wanted to wear them.
I don't cross dress as an adult (and I wouldn't be ashamed if I did), but I find the idea of assigning clothes to a particular sex to be a bit bizarre.

Good interview Mark. Thank you for shareing your .story Richard. Sadly, its a common story to me. I grew up in a neighborhood, where 90 percent of the kids went to catholic school. Many of the boys i knew were molested by priests. I did not know that until most were in their sixtys, when they told me it. One was a family member of mine and a priest molested him in 1st grade 😢 Richard, every single one of them , like you, started sniffing glue at a young age.😢 Then they progressed either into booze or drugs, or both. No one told their parents😢 Very sad. I belive they wentvto huffing glue at young ages to deal with it. Most were huffing glue by 10 years old. Thank God, that 2 of them, got clean and sober and are still clean today. When they Catholic church started going down i was happy to see it because they knew those priests were hurting children and they did nothing to them but send them to another parish where they could and did molest more children. None filed law suits, none even told their parents. I am glad you are sueing them. I wish you much luck with your law suite. Thank you for your honest interview.

@journeysalkebulan you realize that Jesus didn't wear pants right ? What the jews of the time and place wore would look very similar to what we'd call a summer dress. The Scottish Catholics as well as others wore and wear kilts. Christian monks and Priests are the same. The vast majority of "cross dressers" are not homosexual. Though Christ loves everyone and God demands that we love our neighbors and our enemies and NOT to judge others as that is his perview. Jesus preaches love. NOT intolerance and hate. You need to spend more time praying and reading scripture and less time hating and falling to the sin of pride. No the statute of limitations for children molested rape sexually assaulted was tolled. Richard was offered 100K so his case is in the works¿ The Catholic Church and the Boy Scouts agreed to it.

I'll take being a woman and the "hardships" of womanhood over what men have to deal with, any day of the week!
The expectations placed upon men, the role they're meant to play is far and away more difficult than anything women are expected to do it be.
