Harvest at Warter Priory Estate

- Here it is... our 2015 harvest video. We have 4 Claas Lexion 580 combines. You’ll also see a Claas Lexion 740 belongs to a neighbour, who was helping us towards the end of our wheat harvest. Our tractors are primarily Fendt and we use HM and Triffitt trailers.
This year has been a tricky one. The weather has really been against us for most of the season but we have managed to get everything in. We started harvesting our winter barley and oilseed rape (canola) in early August. Our wheat harvest started around the 23rd of August and ran until the middle of September.
Warter Priory is a world class farming operation set in the heart of East Yorkshire amidst 12,000 acres. At Warter, we pride ourselves on our reputation for quality and efficient farming. The main crops we focus on growing are wheat, barley and oilseed rape. We also grow peas in partnership with Birds Eye and some of our land is used for growing potatoes.

I am from rural New York state, and I must say that I am always looking at the scenery around us amazed at the beauty of our rolling hills. However, the videos you show also portray such beauty, not only with the poetry of your equipment, but of the the surrounding land. We truly live on an amazing planet. I think you should give us a tour of your farm yard, that would be good, and maybe make a second channel for daily or weekly vlogs!
Johnthegolferboy They're yard is huge, I went to help my dad silver some of our trailers (HM Trailers) and the main one is big, the others are still big this, and too big to really show.

Wow. It would take me about 2 days to do that. Also how long before Claas give you a call to see if they can use your overhead shots, it really shows the spread pattern of the choppers well, in the osr !

I've always wanted to ask why you run 4 older 'medium' size combines when you cut such a large acreage?
Why not run less 'bigger' combines with wider headers? You've definitely the field size to accommodate them.

Yeah new ones do cost an absolute fortune! For you guys to change from 4 to 3 I reckon would cost you upward of £400-500k. So indeed, why would you change when what you've got copes well and costs very little.
Is there going to be a harvest 2016 video?
Unfortunately not - we didn't get enough footage this summer, due to having too many other projects on. We will do an awesome 2017 harvest video though!
