  • Have you ever thought about skipping a day of Anki? Sometimes life happens and it can be challenging to keep long Anki streaks. Although it is certainly preferable to do Anki every single day, sometimes it is not feasible!
    This video shows how you can miss a day of anki, makeup missed days or study ahead using 3 separate methods.
    I hope this helps students avoid burnout, and gives people more knowledge about tools they can use to cater to their personal study needs! Best of luck & comment with any questions :)

    As Anki users we are always encouraged to do all of our Anki cards EVERY SINGLE day, but sometimes life happens and it is not always possible! I hope the methods in this video can be helpful to all of you in personalizing your studying with Anki and allowing each of you to still pursue all of the joys of life and passions that make you truly unique! Happy Studying! :)

      Thanks for sharing this tip! I want to use Anki with the postpone add on but the comments on the add on page mentioned that it will mess up your cards intervals quite largely. Have you experienced this as well and/or have you been able to solve this issue?

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  Před 9 měsíci +1

      It does not significantly mess up the intervals of the card. In fact, it keeps the interval, the exact same. However, you are basically shifting your study schedule to see all the cards you were supposed to see today, you would be seeing the next day. When used sparingly, this will not significantly impact your learning, however, if you were constantly postponing, say twice a week, overtime, this will affect the overall retention, as you are not routinely studying the cards. For example, after 15 weeks, you would have postponed over 30 days, which would mean you are one month behind the normal study interval. I hope this is helpful! Best of luck!

    Hi! Thanks so much for the video. I'm having trouble with the postpone review add-on - is there any way to post-pone learning (orange) cards and not just the green ones?

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  Před 2 lety

      Hi! No problem, I’m happy it was helpful :) So unfortunately you cannot postpone the learning cards however I think that’s actually a good thing as you do not want to postpone those cards as they are still in the learning phase and studying them in this period before they graduate to a green card is critical to learning the info! Hope this helps!!

    Thanks for the video. When using the postpone cards add on did you change the interval coefficient to 0.0 like I’ve seen other people suggest or did you leave it the way it was?

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  Před 8 měsíci

      No problem! I did not change the coefficient I just postponed by 1 day here and there but ultimately tried to do my cards daily as prescribed! Haha best of luck!

    How do you create a custom study session with cards from multiple decks?

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey! Great question - you would have to include the deck titles in the filter where you specify where the cards are coming from. Honestly the custom review session is not a feature I really use often, sorry if this isn’t helpful!

    Could you please which interval we should set in our decks or card??

    • @AustinNguyenMD

      Check out my video on best Anki Settings! Normally I don’t modify the interval at all.

  • @kafge7798
    @kafge7798 Před 6 měsíci +1

    Hey austin, for some reason when i make the custom session on review ahead. it doesnt add new cards. only adds due cards. what settings to check out to include new cards?

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  Před 6 měsíci +1

      You shouldn’t study ahead or postpone new cards or those that are “red” meaning they are still in the learning phase. Reason being, these cards have very small intervals especially new cards that haven’t had any interval yet or cards you are learning that has an interval of 1 or 2 days so you should avoid studying them ahead or postponing and instead studying them the day they are due. This add on is more for mature cards with large intervals of months or more since moving it around 1-2 days wouldn’t make a difference. Hope this helps!

      Thanks! I tried to outline the chapters in the description too. This was an earlier video I made, and 21 min is definitely a long video 😂 guess I was too use to rambling and too new to CZcams to realize it back then LOL

    Thanks alot very great and useful information ..
    but i am confused what method suits my schedule the most
    I work in hospital Sunday and Monday 48h every week so I don't have a time to study in those two days so in ur opinion what method suits me the most.
    also am asking about the new cards not just the mature ones

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi! I would recommend doing new cards on the days you are off and then using the postpone add on for the days you are working a lot of hours if you can’t do the cards during that time. Ideally, if you have Anki on your phone I think you could get through the cards during work hours when there is downtime but I know that isn’t always possible. Hope this helps and best of luck my friend!

    • @AustinNguyenMD

      Hi! I would just have different decks for different languages and then just study them separately. You can either postpone the other languages on different days or I would just study them one after the other each day to best maximize your learning. So first day for example for English in the morning then Spanish in the afternoon then Italian at night. Hope this helps and your cards shouldn’t mix together!

    is there any way to remove my delay if I want to stop delaying?

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  Před 2 lety

      Hi! If you do not delay that day then it would not be postponed. In addition you can move your cards back forward by using “-1” instead of “1”! Hope this helps!
