- Every year, Westerners consume 34 kilos of sugar per person, twice as much as 15 years ago. Sugar is found everywhere, even in cold meats and prepared dishes. Childhood obesity, development of cardiovascular diseases, the risks caused by this overconsumption of sugar are serious. Worse, consumers are very little informed about the real quantity of sugar contained in the products they buy. The journalists from Cash, Edouard Perrin and Jean Baptiste Renaud, reveal the secret techniques of the agri-food giants and the excessive means they put in place to make us consume ever more sugar.

@@Canholt Can't remember anymore after my sugarcoma and stroke :(

I don't think it's reasonable to keep rats in a lab environment and then say "Look at how he focuses on the sugar water" as some kind of proof that sugar is so powerfully addictive. Those rats have to be profoundly stressed from living in cages and being experimented on all of the time, it wouldn't be surprising if they exhibit unusual behaviors with any substance. But I will say, from personal experience, sugar is very very much like a drug and if you stop using it you will have withdrawal symptoms. The best thing to do is have an excellent fundamental diet and have your sugary treats in addition to that diet, not instead of. And take care of your body in other ways too, like not smoking, get sufficient sleep, try to de-stress, etc.
I'VE BEEN ADDICTED TO SUGAR FOR THE LAST 52 YEARS. BEEN IN AND OUT OF REHAB 18 TIMES. MY GREATEST CHALLENGE HAS BEEN HALLOWEEN. I JUST CAN'T GIVE IT UP. WHAT'S A MAN SUPPOSE TO DO ?
Grow a pair?
I quit sugar more than 40 years ago and did so at around the same time as I started consuming raw garlic daily. Since I don't have a sugar addiction (but DID have an alcohol addiction) it's difficult for me to relate, but maybe you could try using garlic and see what it does for you. Even if you don't give up the sugar, garlic can prevent almost all the consequences of sugar addiction because it's not just antiseptic, antifungal, antimicrobial, and an antioxidant; but it also unclogs your arteries and kills cancer cells.
@@Roses-lilac Shouldn't judge other people unless you've walked a day in their shoes.
As bad as the sugar situation is here, it's nowhere nearly as bad as it is in the USA where there is so much added sugar (called "high fructose corn syrup" euphemistically) that Subway sandwiches are legally categorised as CAKES by the EFSA based just on their sugar content. The real obesity rate in the USA is about 70% while here it's about 25%, still shocking when you know that sugar causes not just obesity but is the main cause of cancer and heart disease. This holds true for any and all sugar substitutes. Like I always say: "if it tastes sweet, spit it out," because the sweetness triggers a cascade of hormones that wreak havoc on the body. Bad enough that every one of the body's 12 hormones are carcinogens. In short, if you knew what I know about sugar, you would never put that stuff in your mouth. Same holds true for fruit juices. Body's not designed to handle them. Fruits yes, but juices no.
Guess what the cancer SOC offers during chemotherapy? Oh, all so sweet!
So what is the safe daily intake of sugar..? has not been reported.
.My personal experience has shown that they get fat from flour, and NOT from 5-6 teaspoons (25-30 g) of sugar per day: diabetes and excess weight are absent, all teeth are in place.
I doubt that!
A company operating in the industrial sector.
Lots of denial from the comments. Denial… sincere delusion!
Everyone makes jokes until their sick.

The lobbyists remind me of time share sales. Lots of champagne and free weekends to the potentials clients. Hard sell by the sugar lobby.
Hadir😊
More like Sugar Cartels. , HFCS is the worst
HFCS is just a pseudonym for sugar that's meant to deceive because its use of the word "corn" makes people think it's a vegetable derivative instead of a fruit derivative even though corn (specifically the portion of the plant that humans eat) is technically a fruit.
not quite so worried about the sugar, as the genetic alterations these days. the other day i was eating something, checked out what was in it, it was part virus, part tick, part fish etc. i can't remember exactly what it was but i'm pretty sure i was eating a piece of fruit or something. i don't mean to downplay sugar it definitely needs to be discussed more and this was a good docco thanks again. can you do one on gm?
The "part work tic meal"and it's name you can't recall ATM?!? Are u giving kidding me... That's like knowing Kennedy's about to get blown away but not being able to get there fast enough because you're a little kid get off it con
Yup !! No mention here of HFCS
Genetically modified organisms our bodies don't even recognize, stored as fat collected as cancer

Clearly no understanding of addiction here.
As far as lab rat life goes, those dudes have it pretty sweeet
There is nothing wrong with sugar.
Only eating it
@@baronvonchickenpants6564 nothing wrong with that either.
And yet we have an obesity epidemic …..
@@Roses-lilac alcohol in itself isn't bad for you. But if you abuse it, (Key word here, ABUSE) it can be bad for you. In moderation it's not a problem. Do you know what the word moderation means? So, anything on this earth can be really bad for you if you don't moderate your intake. If your FAT, put the fork down. Common sense, in short supply these days
@@greggrace967 ah the great moderation con.
