#jeep #review #grandcherokee - Auta a dopravní prostředky
We brought a 2014 GC limited petrol, new in 2014, after 7 years and 140kms we haven’t had a single problem.. ever!
We had a couple of call backs for I think a alternator and something else, but it was a breeze.. we love ours it has been the part of the family you can always rely on
Thanks for the feedback! It’s good to hear from real owners.
@Mctrician2 got over 400000 on mine still hasn’t shit the bed yet
@@CarExpertAus will that hood fit a trailhawk wk2 hood 5.7 ? I like the gills lol
I have had a few grand cherokees currently have a 2019 high altitude and I honestly love it….style, power, capability…it’s a Jeep thing
I have a 2013 Grand Cherokee Laredo and I love it. Yes, there are a couple of (very) minor build quality issues but when l consider everything l get for the money l paid l am more than happy. The styling is awesome and my wife enjoys the look and the ride. The vehicle drives beautifully and tows our boat effortlessly but the biggest surprise is the off road capability; the sand dune my Hilux Surf struggled on doesn't seem to challenge the Jeep and the brakes are superb. Best thing is the comfort on a long trip, when we get out of the Jeep at our destination we don't feel crippled and the fuel economy is very good at around 8.2 Lites of diesel per 100 klms. I give it 96/100 and can honestly say it is the best vehicle l have owned in 47 years of driving.
Had my Grand Cherokee for 3 years now and it's been hassle-free. It's only the 3.6 V6 petrol, but has plenty of grunt and will do Adelaide-Melbourne on a single tank, showing 8.3L/100km on the trip computer. Very comfy and effortless. Some people will just never get past the stories they hear from people who haven't ever owned one, and that's fine. Try to enjoy driving your soulless whitegoods appliance.
Mate, you drive a 3.6L six cylinder. Quite sure your car is the soulless one.
There is a photo of the grand c in the dictionary, under shitbox
Just brought the same in the Overland model, brought it in Melbourne and drove it back to Exmouth, what a great car.
Mine is a 2013 Limited Diesel, we tow a 21ft Caravan… all I can say is Brilliant, Jeep build a great vehicle..
We have a 2014 Grand Cherokee Summit EcoDiesel, the 3.0 v6 pulls hard, sips fuel and now has 200,000 kilometres on it. We never had a problem.
Chrysler is just putting the Hellcat engine into ever car they make, Its Insane!
It hasn’t got a hellcat engine in it.. seriously
How good is it! The Trackhawk is a beast!
its only a 5.7 v8 🤷♂️
The Hellcat is available in the Ram TRX , Dodge Challenger Red Eye and Dodge Demon 808 hp Hellcat, Charger Hellcat , Grand Cherokee WK2 Track Hawk and one year only in the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. Even the Wrangler has a 470 hp SRT 392 V8 not to shabby. Otherwise there's the really reliable Pentastar V6 that pushes 300 hp.
Honestly the saying is true. It’s a Jeep thing, you wouldn’t understand. My dad still has his commander , been in the family for 12 years. Great Jeep. We love Jeep and can’t imagine driving anything else. We take it’s cons with ease and just love the lifestyle it provides us.
Another brilliant detailed review. Keep up the great work
We have owned 1 Chrysler and 3 Jeeps in the past 15 years and all have been great vehicles. Our servicing has always been done by the dealer network and have been very happy with the product and the service experience.
I have one. Love it. 5th Jeep. Occasional small issues, but nothing major. Great car.
I own grand Cherokee for 3 years and I love it
I got a brand new GC diesel in 2017, had no problem with the car. I drove from Brisbane to Perth last year in four days, really comfortable for long distance drive!
Keep telling yourself it’s good 😊
@@tyzon00800 well they are, period, you believe what you like, this from a person who is actually driving one.
I have a 2017 with 3 lit diesel, 250 hp, over 500Nm, fuelconsuption 7-10 lit on 100km.
76000 km no problems. Interieur quality not the best, but I dont need that. That is a very offroad capable car and I love it. And here in Germany 200 km/h is not a problem too.
Nice what a beast!! Thanks for the review :)
Thanks for watching!
Love your review. Jeeps are just different. There is a huge community and club in South Africa. It is definitely a lifestyle and not just an ordinary vehicle
Very nice! My 2011 Grand Cherokee is closing in on 340,000 km no real big issues aside from alternator and exhaust leak.
I do miss a good v8 though! All full suvs and pickups should have v8s.
Great review as always!
I have the 2011 limited grand Cherokee. 5.7 hemi, fully loaded with heavy duty brakes, cooling, and towing. I love it. Mileage is the only beef @8-13 mpg in town. 20mph on highway as it drops down automatically to 4 cylinders. Plenty of storage and comfort. Fantastic in the snow and mud. Back seat is very roomy with heated and cooled front and rear seats. Panoramic sunroof. 103,000 so far. Routine Maintenance is pricey. No problems as of yet. Do have a couple of recalls to address.
My 2015 model diesel is still going strong after 108,000km with no problems. Tows a boat and used on plenty of camping ;trips and still looks good. Don’t understand reliability issues mentioned.
15:40 "It's a Jeep thing... you wouldn't understand"
Another rock solid review
Nice Jeep, I love the Hemi V8 and 8HP transmission.
It’s a good combo!
Love watching your reviews Paul, The best it town m8 ❤ 👌
Mine is a 2019 Laredo grand Cherokee, still love it
I have been using a 2015 Grand Cherokee Summit from 2016 till now, with no issues so far. It came with 10 years of warranty back then. Also had a hairline crack at the windscreen which was quite easy to resolve with the dealer and talking to Jeep Australia :)
What a great car. Hands down the most capable in its class I have seen one of these do glass house mountain tracks you can barely climb.
I had the GC 2015 Summit V8 with air suspension, bought it new and it has been a good friend...enjoyable to drive and easy to live with...will I buy another Jeep vehicle again.YES
I used to have a 2015 grand Cherokee but Just got the Baltic grey Jeep Grand Cherokee L and it’s amazing, I picked it up yesterday!
My wife has a 2020 Wrangler Sahara and absolutely loves it, not a single problem after 39000km. It’s a car you can rely on to do the on road everyday thing or to cross a river going to the beach!
I loved my last GC, which was a 3.7 pentastar . Have had 2 wranglers and 2 GC’s. A bit let down by Jeep on a “just out of warranty” claim, hence left the brand for now.... Hopefully they’ll start earning their customers back with better service. Currently in a mustang but would definitely look at the next GC.
I owned a 2016 XLT Ford Ranger and got rid of it and bought a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with air suspension and upgraded second generation four wheel drive and has all the extras and I was a Ford person and would never go back it's a diesel and it is so economical and reliable I cannot fault it in anyway. I have driven many other makes of four wheel drives and it runs rings around others for comfort and build quality so I would only replace it for a later version of Jeep so people seriously should not knock them until they drive one because you would never knock it again.
Enjoyed the review always been partial to the Jeep’s my brother had a very bad experience with his grand Cherokee 2016 when he bought it new went through two black boxes as well as a transmission before in loading it
I have a 2012 Grand Cherokee diesel - faultless - can hardly tell difference in appearance to 2021 you tested. Interior is very similar and still looks like new - no quality or wear issues here.
I dont understand how a KIA Sorento can be a competition for Jeep Grand Cherokee & Prado Land Cruiser!!!!
Reliability - even if only perceived (v Jeep) and space (v Prado - a friend couldn't fit their three kids in child seats across the second row)
@@pastorofmuppets8834 Wait the Prado is small you mean?
I've been trying to get my dad into something else but he loves these Cherokee's so much.
czcams.com/video/OVD5CZ1vpvQ/video.html
I love the S-Limited i think its the best bang for buck model you could buy.
Hi, Love the content. Is this car available only in your region or in the UK as well.
Have Jeep SRT and it has been great. Only issue has been sticky power window switch on passenger side which was replaced under warranty. Tyres and brembo brakes are expensive to replace though. Debating upgrading to Trackhawk model now or waiting another year for new shape.
Love my 2018 Summit. Only missing the Android Auto. So far done about 40k miles without any issues. I'm really looking forward to see the new generation GHC. If its gonig to look similar to the new Grand Wagoneer, I'm sure will be going for it..
Love my Jeep’s... for the past 30 years have had about 5 Jeep’s models... started with a Wrangler... moved to GC’s and love them. My most recent a 2019 Overland is a bullet. I did had a 200 for a few years and it was great but for the money you can’t go past the Jeep’s GC...reliability is good, service pricing in Australia still a bit an issue...
Fair review. I've owned my MY14 Grand Cherokee Limited (Diesel) from new and have been happy with it overall. It's done just on 110,000 km's and hasn't left me on the side of the road travelling to and from Tamworth, Armidale and up to Goondiwindi and back from Sydney for work. City driving is a breeze, and it's very capable offroad. The only modification I've done with it is replace the 20inch wheels with some 18inch Laredo wheels off gumtree to fit larger tyres on them. Other than a a couple of recalls which were handled quickly and efficiently by the dealership I bought it from, the only problem I've had is the active head restraint system failing on the front passenger seat. Deadset scared the buggery out of my 14 year old sitting in the pax seat. No collision... just randomly popped out during the short drive home from the shops. FCA Jeep are working it out as I type this and can't fault their customer service. I may edit the previous comment in a few weeks though. I've been told the wait on the part is 6 months. Anyway, I've been happy with the WK2 and look forward to watching and reading about the WL Grand Cherokee due to be released late 2021. I would definitely add it to the cross shopping review when the time comes. Although, word has it there may not be a diesel next year which will be a total deal breaker for me. P.s. probably the best bloody standard stereo system in any car from the factory. Oh and easily do 1000km's on a full tank during regional stints, does between 650 - 700km's on a full tank in city. Stupidly frugal for a 4WD weighing circa 2.5 tonnes.
I love this ride, my dream car after the Patrol
love this machine... but wonder if FCA finally resolved all the issues with it in the newer models..
It's great car, although to wide for me personally so I couldn't be comfortable.
I used it for 4 adult trips and it did great. The fuel efficiency of the 3.2l gasoline was bad, but that was in the mountains with four people.
big jeep fan. Please review the wrangler in Australia :)
Have jeep 80th anniversary edition GC bought only this year, so far excellent
Also quick side note the cup holder that is closer to you is smaller and would fit that cup better. The cup holder closer to the infotainment screen is larger for bigger sized drinks
that jeep grand cherokee is cool i like it
These Jeeps are popular all over the world, it's very fascinating.
Tech resolution: I have a Jeep Compass in Australia and the headlights specified in the manual had to file down the plastic to fit the connector. It works and is actually necessary
well I own the 2017 model and it does the job very well so far. As you said. Oldie but Goldie! which makes it really a comfy, handy and capable car if you don't have the budget to buy a more luxuries Mid Size SUV that can do it all for you. I do currently love the new Defender 110, but I think it is yet not the right time for me to buy. I would be getting it later in the future if I still like it and not see something else catching my eyes :)
Had a Dodge Durango R/T with the same drivetrain while in Canada in January, silky smooth and mint soundtrack! Didn’t hurt the wallet as much since gas was cheap there compared to NZ
I owned a JGC diesel for 8 years and it proved to be the best car I have owned. I have moved onto a S5 Y62 Patrol and have to disagree with you on comfort. The Jeep is a comfortable thing but the big Nissan is another level. The Jeep was a great tow vehicle but due to its size and weight with standard suspension you needed a WDH when towing big weights whereas the Nissan you don’t (all be it a bit saggy)
I still love my Jeep and would buy another one if they didn’t deprecate like they do.
I honestly have to say the deisel v6 turbo is the best combo 0-100 8sec same as the v8 but much less fuel usage and more torque also.
Cheers Paul. I like V8’s as well. Pretty thirsty though and not really going off road. Nice looker none the less
I thought jeep are not going to develop The “ S “ model again..
I own a 2014 Jeep, goes remarkably well, yes they are basic compared to all the flash mod cons in luxury SUV such as Range Rover, but I like how basic it is it looks tough, and I get plenty of complements from people. I have had minor issues one being very touchy on the throttle response and I did accidentally put it into limp mode, Apart from that I would certainly buy another like a SRT to get the V8 and big brakes. Also great for towing and off road very capable
I wish that Jeep optioned the S-Limited V8 with the Quadra Lift Air Suspension.
The Quadra Lift Air Suspension would make the S-Limited ride and drive a lot smoother and much more appealing.
It currently is only in the Trailhawk, Overland, S-Overland, and Summit.
Just took delivery of my S-Limited and it is not good but GREAT. There is a lot more refinement on this vehicle then you were able to describe in available time. What are the options a tradie dressed up as a tourer or a couple of oldies from Japan. I bought this during Dan's Melbourne lockdown having used the wonderful world of the WWW to select this great vehicle. This car isn't old or ancient it sets the standard for the tradie 4x4 options to step up to. I find my phone fits into the top layer of the centre console and I generally buy a large coffee so I find the cup holders are just right. What about the drivers seat memory? The drivers seat memory stores more then the preferred seat settings but mirror, steering wheel, radio and more. It's a drivers car. Fuel economy is great so far. I can't wait to do my Melbourne to Sydney run to do a comparison to my weekend driver, a MONARO 5.7L which I manage to achieve 9/100 sticking to speed limit and using cruise control. The Jeep has 2 options with cruise control, adaptive or speed. Pleased I bought a JEEP. I'm in.
Looks very well balanced, seems like you sit deep.
I’ve always loved these! Next car for sure
Thank you. I am so glad you reviewed this!! What’s your opinion on the ones with Air Suspension- does it make the ride any smoother?
Thanks! And yes I’d go with the air suspension. The ride is better and if you notice in the light off-road section the rear right wheel leaves the ground. You get more travel with the air setup.
I had one with air suspension. It was great on and off road.
It was brilliant on corrugated roads.
Adjustable ride height is also handy for hooking up trailers - you never need to wind a jockey wheel again. Reverse under, lift the car up into the hitch, flick the jockey wheel up. Do the reverse when uncoupling.
Had the 3 litre diesel for 3 years. Not a single issue.
I love my Jeep so far so good the last two years for 300k it should be good, since I drive it a lot may need a new one after several years of having it around
Zero issues with our KL Cherokee.👍
Its been a year now and im loving every moment. I got the diesel and its great for towing.... tip: moving gear shifter side ways will allow you to activate the gear range limiter
Diesel? LOL 👎
@@Steve-Mcgarrett 🤣😂 noice and slow but with torque on demand on steep ascents even whilst tuggin
@@Gats001 I'm so sick of everyone using the torque excuse! Look up Xtreme Ford Tuning Facebook. I had a 4L inline 6 turbo engine with 550Nm at the rear hubs at 2,000 RPM! What can beat that? The tuner just needed to know what they are doing, diesels don't produce more torque! Why is the G63 AMG a 4L TT V8?
@@Steve-Mcgarrett Diesels DO produce more torque - it is just the way diesel engines work. You can't argue with the physics of engine design.
Diesel engines use compression ignition, which is done with a long piston stroke, and a long stroke leads to more torque.
@@bmerigan i know that! Hence also why they can't be tuned to high power levels because the ignition can't be accurately and precisely controlled! Diesels are an agricultural engine bud! Please read my above comment! Also note the Harrop Super rado... ie 6.2L supercharged V8 Holden Colorado. Diesels are crap in an enthusiasts vehicle. Fact!
my 2014 grandcherokee is the family hauler I couldn't fault it 3.0 turbo diesel so much torque so smooth quiet Tows anything u put behind it has all tech that 2022 cars have money for value can't fault it never missed a beat 175k now still running like new
We have a 2015 Grand Cherokee Overland and it has never put a foot wrong. As for complaints about the build quality, we have no complaints. Both interior and exterior have stood up well to the Alice Springs climate, and with a bit of a rub and a scrub, the car comes up looking like new. The only problem is, Jeep has pulled the plug on the local dealership, so that we are 1200k from the next one! With reluctance, we will have to say goodbye to the vehicle soon, to be on the safe side.
This build quality thing, he shakes the centre console and then makes it up from that the build quality is poor, overall the build quality is very good. You really don't need a dealership to service your Jeep, in a lot of cases normal service centres can and do a better job.
I have a v6 grand cherokee laredo petrol 210,000km on the clock, 2011 model not a single issue, it's been severely used for offroad I've tackled obstacles that only vehicles with 3ich3s of lift tackle and I always conquer them with only a 40mm lift and 32s, I'll buy another one with my eyes closed
Another brilliant review Paul. I am looking to sell my 2004 VYII Holden Adventra LX8 which is a All Wheel Drive Wagon.
I would like either a GC Limited S V8 or a GC SRT which I have admired for years.
Hi Paul, great review. Just a question, did it start off in first gear when you did the 0-100? Unless I put my wife's srt in sport or track it always starts off in 2nd
My bad, it was in 1st. Sorry for doubting you😬
Never had a problem with my jeep and love it to death us do part
Very good
I have a Grand Cherokee. 65,000kms and 3.5 years and the only build quality issue I've had is the drivers seat has started to creak over almost every bump and movement in the last 2 weeks. I haven't hit up Jeep yet, but that seems unreasonable since no other car I've had has had a creaky seat.
Cup holders are designed for American tastes; i.e. large cups for coffee or whatever else. We do not imbibe, ahem, puny portions! 😂
BTW, I own a 2016 JGC Overland Trail Rated which I purchased in the States and sent to Greece where I use it from May to October; and a 2020 JGC Trailhawk that I use in the States (Atlanta, Georgia) where I use it from October to May. I do serious off-roading in either country (not extreme!), naturally with the obligatory air suspension and have never had any issues. Of course, I am a stickler to details and service all of my vehicles as per the Owner's manual.
I love your video reviews. Keep them coming.
P.S. Hey! You have the steering wheel on the wrong side!
FYI, I have owned Pajeros/Monteros, Nissan Xterras, Daihatsus, as well as Wranglers, that I have driven in many countries that I have lived (ten of them) among which Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Greece, Italy, England, and can tell you that I wouldn't swap the Jeeps for anything else. Mind you, thus far, I have owned 41 vehicles.
You will know that the video was made in australia when you see dead snake on the road. 12:38. but overall another good video Paul.

Hi paul. Do you think you will be reviewing the hyundai palaside anytime soon?
Yes! Early next year - a COVID outbreak in Sydney meant we had to cancel our trip. So we will wait until we can get our hands on one in Melbourne.
Must be a sign that I'm getting old - I'd prefer an old Cherokee or Wagoneer with some modern running gear. Grand Cherokee doesn't look too bad and is one of the view V8 SUVs around that isn't north of $100K.
Hey Paul Can you please do a Segment Comparison Video please if you know what I mean so we know what car you would choose in that particular Segment
Something we are working on for next year 😁

Bi-Xenon are still much better than Halogen yet they (manufacturers) still produce Halogen and I fail to see why.
This GC really should have 19” rims however.
I’m not quite the car aficionado as these internet critics, but I own the car for years and it’s been pretty damn good. If you get the Quadra Trac 2 or the Quadra Drive 4WD systems then this vehicle has few competitors for the price.
I told you in lights video that there is still some cars with xenon lights

It's a no brainer, go the Jeep GC overland over the Rav 4 better in all areas. The Trailhawk I think is the best model Jeep GC in there line up.

@@CarExpertAus I've got a 2014 Grand Cherokee Laredo. With a 2 inch lift and some underbody protection, I've driven it all over Australia, including a week in soft sand at Fraser Island. It's never missed a beat, never had any issues with it. It's great on road and offroad. I've only got the 3.6L V6, but it's not really any slower in a straight line than this V8 (it weighs a lot less), and I average 10.9 L/100km, including commuting through Melbourne everyday. It's been the best all around car I've owned.
How much price can u explain sir
I love a V8 but do you need it in a car like this? Doesn't look like it does much for performance either, the acceleration is just average. I guess you get the nice noise, but I'd stick to a V6 in a car like this. Or a diesel.
I think cars like this are perfect for 3l Diesels
I was at least thinking 6 sec 0-100.. Can you also point out where that engine is from and why they didn't use the NA 6.4 Hemi? I know I have bumped to a few people and they don't know where the 5.7 V8 originates from. I heard from a ute?
Engine is made in Mexico
The bigger HEMI is in the SRT. This is an older version that’s been around for a while.
The 5.7 was first released into the 2002> rams and has been into heaps of cars such as the chrysler 300c's
Foot operated parking brakes really should go away. Either a lever to pull with your hand or an electronic button or switch.
I don’t see the issue with them personally.
This grand cherokee much better looking than new one except the interior of new one. I wish jeep keep this model. Front grill and front light is good in this one than new one. Rear light needed upgrade and put interior of new grand cherokee in this model and and just some new good looking wheels and boom. I will still buy with all this update compare to new one.
we have a jeep patriot the starter broke after 35,000 miles. jeep was bought by fiat in 2016 they’ve are not known for reliability in the states.

I own 2012 one and it live his own life. If you are for Jeep this is what you will get. One day electric mirrors work one day not one day other electric device work one day not. It all depend of your Jeep mood. Apart that it took me everywhere I want because it is suv with real 4 wheeling capabilities. Good 4 wheeling car which more luxury tan wrangler. Don’t get me wrong it is not like wrangler but who actually do more than overlanding
What of its. Reliability?
Was a Prado owner, great car but woefully underpowered. Brought a 2010 WH Limited V6 diesel, so much better in all respects and tows my large camper trailer like a breeze. Will upgrade to a late model WK V6 diesel in the future, maybe a trailhawk, I think it's the best all round 4WD on the market.
What about a Volkswagen Touareg with a V6 TDI, those are some of the most reliable engines especially with lower power
