U know how many times this video played on MTV. Never had to put trigger warning on tv. Everyone was fine and even loved song n video. If I remember right the slow mow of things exploding was new for some reason in video or tv. Think it was FPS with quality. But yea never heard ppl talk like this. Just weird and just shows how crazy n mentally weak this younger gen is.

Korn mostly has songs about coping with emotional struggles. Jonathan's lyrics are amazing. They all do a fantastic job of translating emotions into music. This band got me through some extremely tough times in the 90s while I was in school. Just made you not feel so alone. They will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for checking them out. If people want you to react to Daddy...don't do it. It's too intense for a lot of people. Otherwise all their other songs are good to go.

Daddy will sneak up on you if you listen to it too soon on your KoRn journey. He should build his understanding of the band and specifically Jonathan more before jumping into his most emotional and vulnerable song.

I'd highly recommend adding Korn's song ''Falling Away From Me'' to the list of possible reactions. It's sort of a sequel to this song. Amazing instrumentals, deep lyrics and a music video that's visually though to swallow for some because it can be very relatable if you've had a troubled childhood.

My favorite song of all time from my favorite band. Jonathan Davis is a legend bro. He is amazing vocally BECAUSE he goes flat and off pitch, like you said. It's about emotional projection, not perfect singing, and you definitely picked up on that. Korn is up there with System of a Down, Slipknot, and Linkin Park for some of the most influential hard rock bands of the late 90's/early 2000's.

Gotta disagree, all bands you named have been and still are very influential but they all were (partially) inspired by Korn. And to say Korn is up there when they are the actual firestarters of nu metal feels like not giving them enough credit.The genre was literally named after them 🤔
I would say Korn was one of the initial pioneers for Nu-metal that was followed up closely by Slipknot. You could lay some influence to Sepultura, but that was a more tribal metal, but it was their progression from thrash to the tribalistic metal that seems like the precursor to Korn and thus leading into Slipknot. Naturally there is a bunch of bands between making the arc, but to me back then that felt like the progression of what metal was to what it became. Pantera being there as a monolith of the old and new NATURALLY. SOAD and Slipknot basically spawned in the arena at the same time. In fact, I remember seeing both on the Second Stage at Ozzfest '99 in Dallas. Godsmack one of the Main stage performers stayed in the same hotel as us, and we got to actually smoke and hangout. I have pictures of that with the members and of course I have my prized 8ball signature from Corey Taylor before he was ever unmasked that same summer only at the small area at the Myriad in Oklahoma City, not the arena but the small concert hall. The next year they were playing to a sold out stage in the arena. Such a massive change in size for just one year. 97-02 was something unique for metal. If you ask me. I'd be willing to say honest, the decade from 92-02 was when metal really found its footing. Where it becomes more mainstream and wasn't just a niche genre anymore.

I was big into Korn from their first album. This song was a slightly different style from what they were used to, but it was a refreshing change. I recommend you listen to a song called Clown. It's full of rage. Their music was very emotive and a good outlet for angst!
Korn is my hometown band and my very first concert at 16 years old! It was Korn's '𝙎𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙' tour with Papa Roach, Powerman 5000 and it was incredible!! I really hope you check out more from these groups or else you're missing out.

Fieldy is an amazing bassist. Head and Monkey (lead and main guitar) balance the backflow in such a unique way. No one can be Korn.

100% some bands and artists get lumped into genres they are ALMOST like, but they have a uniqueness that sets them apart from anyone else in that genre, or any other you could label them as, making them instantly recognisable. KoRn is one for sure, and Deftones is another, and possibly a good option for Teddy to react to next
Listen to “love and death” and you see where KoЯn went when Head was gone. Yes Fieldy on bass is something else but the fun crazy sounds and rhythm dancing comes from Head. If that makes sense.
For me the best thing about this music is: I know I'm not alone. And that in itself is soothing to know. Almost a relief.

_Falling Away From Me_ also known as one of the most fucked up stuff you will ever try to play on drums. The beat will break you, eat you and spit you out. But god damn, what a song!!
I was blessed to be able to see Korn perform at the music festival Louder than Life in 2021. Jonathan Davis had recently fought off Covid and was still weak from the virus. They had a throne built for him to sit in on stage lol. This man gave everything he had to that performance, and when he got tired, he would take hits of oxygen from a tank behind the throne and then sit and rock out for a while. What really impressed me is that he sounded EXACTLY THE SAME. You could not tell that he was feeling less than 100%. When he sat to sing, he was still just as engaged and entertaining. And he even played his famous bagpipes! I was blown away.
It's never too late to find this music! If you'd like to do some more Korn, I suggest Here to Stay (another one about fighting with your own mind), Thoughtless, Coming Undone, Twisted Transistor, or Got the Life. Those are faves of mine.
If you’re gonna mention the bagpipes, you also need to recommend Shoots and Ladders.

High School, 1999, on the bus existing as a misfit. Staring out the window. My headphones cranked up. Listening to Johnathan’s voice belt out and cry, feeling the mutual exchange of pain, emotions. An artists voice echoing through time, I still find the therapy I need. Watching a younger generation groove and feel the blistered love, gives me a sense of wholeness.
I've watched many people react to this song and not given them a second thought. I'll think about yours for quite a while. Your honest reaction as you sought to understand was very insightful and had layers of depth I was not expecting in a random reaction video.. much less from a man of your younger ears. Kudos. what's funny is the message came through to you as touching and too real, then as you excepted and spoke on the matter you let go of its potency and started vibing heavy with the composition and wackiness they created. this is in my opinion what this type of music is for, it reminds you of how real life is while also reminding you to not take it all so seriously 😊
It may remind you of bad times, but it also makes you realize you got through it. It has the ability to make you feel strong. Resilient. I love metal for that.
It also lets you know that you are not alone. We all feel like the shit we are going through, no one else understands. Bands like Korn, such huge people, who you'd think could have no problems in life, are letting you know they have issues too. They've been there too. They got through it, (or are handling it) so you can too.
When you see Korn live and gets to the skat/beat box part, when Jonathan screams GO! The mosh pit would go fucking crazy. Jumping, screaming, hands in the air....it's amazing to experience.

These bands came out when I was in Highschool. It was a very good time for music. Korn, Disturbed, Lincoln Park, Slipknot, etc, they were always there for me and luckily they still are.
What I will say is many of us who grew up listening to this music (90s-early 00s) it helped pull us out of those dark places by bringing what we were feeling and giving it a voice and an outlet. You dont have to go back to those feelings with grief now you can go back to those and appreciate you overcoming those feelings

She and Jonathan Davis bring so much emotion and style to their singing - in _radically_ different ways - and the contrast of their voices is so cool. I actually sang this version at my vocal recital with a friend of mine. I sang it right after an opera aria, and the audience was so confused lol
I consider this KoRn’s all-around masterpiece. I know it’s their most popular song, so it’s a very obvious choice. But after being a fan since the late ‘90s, and adding album after album of theirs to my music collection, that’s how I feel. I also feel like they threw in tons of different elements to the mix. Hip-hop touches, groove, guitar effects, heavy riffing, and last but never least the scatting section on the buildup. Nobody sees that coming. I really remember that time well, having just moved out on my own- guess I’m old. But back then songs like this were different and exciting to hear at people’s houses, parties, and on the radio. And now I realize the strength of this music is why people are still checking it out today.
I was in my 20’s when this came out. I’d been into alternative music since high school, but nothing really heavy. When I heard Korn and Lincoln Park for the first time I was blown away. I realized this was what I had been missing all my life. I know a lot of people clown on Nu Metal, but I loved it. Korn especially was what got me into heavier music, and I’ve never looked back.
Oh and SOAD, I almost forgot them!
That was actually the song that introduced me to metal 15 to 20 years ago I think. Before that I only listened to hiphop and rap like Eminem and Co. But after that I wasn't the same. Since then I opened up to all kinds of music. And it was a great ride and I'm always happy when I discover something new.

This video really shows why I absolutely love seeing rap artists/fans listen to new music. The music of Korn was something I listened to myself a lot during some of the worst points in my life. I've lost far too much and it was through Korn that I was able to push through it and keep on going, because with enough work you will always be able to reach a point that you can be happy.
Still one of the best MVs. Bullet tears straight through everything, gets to them and it _can't get to them_ bc of the music - and GO! It's a straight line again, but it's missing e v e r y t h i n g. If that isn't a representation of every single comment section on reactions to Korn, to Linkin Park, to so many songs of this era, about how it saved them, made them feel seen or less alone or more able to cope, then I don't know what is. The bass player (Feildy) was big into hip hop at at the time so was Jonathon Davis. The “nu rock” was a hip hop metal fusion that brought max energy to concerts and was exciting at the time, then is was corporatized like everything else in the music industry.
Nu-metal, when it came about in the early 90s, was hallmarked by its inclusions of influences and references to hip-hop. You had bands like Rage Against the Machine, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Incubus, P.O.D., Mindless Self Indulgence, Sevendust, Nonpoint and even Deftones all dropping rap covers or tracks, and on the other side of the spectrum you had rappers like Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, P Diddy, LL Cool J (With Red Hot Chili Peppers), Outkast (Zach de la Rocha remix!) Big Pun (with Incubus), and KRS-One embracing the rock and nu-metal vibe on albums. This would give way to bands like Linkin Park in the early 2000s really trying to strike a balance between the two and refining the sound. Great reaction man! Keep it up!

I discovered Korn about a year ago.. and I sometimes wonder how some of their music could’ve resonated with me as a teen. When I first listened to their song ‘Dirty’ I was like “woah! this is sick and crunchy (yes. crunchy is a weird adjective for a song. but crunchy just describes it so well for me lmao)” but as I listened to it more I began to feel this heavy feeling form in my chest - as if my heart was sinking. It made me so sad. I didn’t make the connection until a few more listens later that that song just describes how I felt in high school. Granted, I’m only 20 and graduated high school in 2021.. so it wasn’t long ago. But still! Music and lyrics (like Korn’s) can bring up memories and emotions you didn’t expect to remember or feel - especially when the singer’s voice conveys such raw emotion.
Although I can’t say I have personal experience with the topics dealt with in ‘Kill You’ or ‘Daddy’ by Korn.. Johnathan’s vocals just get to me. His voice cracking, being on the verge of tears, and the lyrics hit me so hard. I recommend listening to all their music - but I will say ‘Daddy’ is incredibly dark and emotional - so just be prepared for it to affect you in the moment while listening. When I first listened to it, I was laying in bed late at night and practically cried. It took me a bit to fall asleep.

What he is doing is called Scat, he isn’t saying much making noises. The Genre was ahead of its time. Nu Metal. They have a lot of great songs, just don’t listen to Daddy if you don’t want to be turned off by them. Loved the Korn album self titled. Ball younger, shoots and ladder etc. was what I listened to most as a kid

Here's what you gotta understand about the song Blind: Before this, the metal that most people knew was stuff like Guns 'N Roses, Slayer - "hair band" stuff. Then Korn comes out, and Blind is the FIRST SONG off their FIRST ALBUM - and no one had ever heard anything like it!
It blew people away, it was so utterly new. The experience of putting that tape in, and the first thing you hear is so completely foreign from anything else that anyone else was doing - it was seriously a revolution.

' why? Why?' because it's epic and Korn, they are amazing live the atmosphere is absolutely buzzing
I understand how you stayed away from music like this to avoid feeling this way, for some of us this music was an outlet to let out those same emotions in safe place and feeling that we were not alone. And everyone has their own way to cope and process emotions.
Yo this song was my jam in high school! That bass thumped on my system haha 😂 watch their Woodstock live videos they’re on point! Korn back in the late 90s early 2000s was one of my favorite bands along with Manson and Rob Zombie oh and Limp Bizkit haha 😂 man it’s weird thinking of how long ago that was lol 😂 I’m almost 40 now and I can still remember most of the lyrics to these songs haha 😂

Mate, welcome to Nu Metal. These are guys that grew up with metal and rock and as teens were opened to hiphop and so they clash and made this glorious mix. The best examples of this are prolly Limp Bizkit who did tracks with Method Man. Or try Anthrax with Public Enemy. The coralation between hip hop and rock is insane. In the 90’s there was a film called “Judgement Night” the entire soundtrack is hiphop/rock/metal collabs
