Bro you gotta listen to the uncut version it changes the whole feel and message of this song and NO ONE ever listens to the original uncut version…
THIS!!!! I get why some reactors might not necessarily want to have that section of the song up on their channel, but the fact that it's never even mentioned by anyone anywhere that I've come across makes me feel as though that version isn't nearly as well known as I think it is
Yes!!
This
Because the uncut version is...disturbing
Dudumtz
i didnt even know there was a cut version, i was severely disappointed when the entire crisis verses were missing,
"Get up, come on get down with the sickness. You wanna get up, come on get down with the sickness." Is the lyric. He actually recently stopped a concert because there was a little girl in the front row that got scared. He stopped the entire show turned the house lights on climbed down and talked to her to let her see that he is just a man. SUPER heart warming if you wanna check out a non musical video.
I've seen that! the way he talked to her was so lovely, and then included everyone to show her that there's nothing to be scared of. That they're all there to celebrate the music together, no matter who they are. Simply brilliant. I could listen to David read the dictionary lol
@@AdeleD79 It really was just the sweetest!!!
I actually saw them in concert shortly after that video came out and it happened again where he got down and talked to a little boy and brought him and his father on stage in Camden New Jersey. Great guy
Sorry to say, but the lyrics are: "Get up, come on get down with the sickness. You, mother, get up, come on get down with the sickness. You, fucker, get up, come on get down with the sickness." The song is about an abusive mother-child-relationship.
@@joachimmuller4930 I concur
"I wanna punch a wall, I wanna damage a tree."
Sounds about right.
Chop Suey - System of a Down
Yes!!
Yes please!!!
oh if only!
Hell yea
PLEASE! This was my shit back in high school!!
Them doing The Sound of Silence, you will hear his amazing voice. He’s classically trained🔥🔥
I love how he sings this. It's beautiful !!
Yes to this!
Yes! If you like David's voice in this song, The Sound of Silence will blow your mind.
He does do Sound of Silence.
Theres a whole section that got cut out for this radio edit and it makes the whole song sooooooo much more intense and darker
I was disappointed that bit was cut!! If there's anything more cathartic than shouting 'WHY DON'T YOU JUST FUCK OF AND DIE!?' I have yet to find it haha!
Yeah I was disappointed that part was cut. It’s what pulls the whole song together
@@cleo47bc kinda helps the song make more sense, it really defines "the sickness" but regardless, still a banger
"No mommy!" 😂😂😂That definitely needed to be in this for him to hear.
That bit makes the song shite in my opiniom 😂
As a fellow autistic and rock lover, watching you react to these and repeatedly it excited over the beeps in the chorus makes me extremely happy cause I stim hard to those and sounds similar. Hope you keep exploring rock, youll find a community that will always have your back brother.
Fuckin same
Amen 🎉🎉🎉
Completely agree. Couldn't figure out why I was enjoying teddy's perspective so much whilst I've been diving through his reactions to some of my favourite songs. Now it makes sense lol
Is that what he’s doing is stimming? Hell, I do that same thing! It’s awesome to watch bc he’s listening to the songs I love and I can never go back and hear them for the first time so I’m doing it vicariously thru Teddy man. I wanna go to a concert with you Teddy!!
I second this 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻
It's super impressive how you picked up the meaning of "The Sickness" so quickly. In David's own words, "the sickness" is a metaphor for how society and the media sees and depicts metalheads, which at the time especially, was largely viewed as wrong or "being sick in the head" type of thing. He wants people to embrace that feeling rather than reject it.
David Draman, lead singer, is an awesome vocalist. I’m loving your descent into rock music and how hype you get. Sound of Silence is a cover of a 60/70’s Simon and Garfunkel folksy kind of song. His vocals are really spotlighted.
😅I Agree❤
When he mentions that he sounds like a psychiatrist that no one talks to I giggled cause he is a triple major with three college degrees
Absolutely love seeing how hyped you got listening to this song. This song was one of my favourites when I was a teen, and it's still in my playlists 15 years later
Meaning
David Draiman has stated that the song "Speaks about the eternal struggle of the individual against the mother culture of society that is constantly trying to beat the child struggling for independence and individuality into submission."
Lyrics
Opening
Whisper Begin
Do you feel that
Oh shit
Whisper Ends
Owhahahaha
Owhahahaha
Aw aw
Aw aw
Verse 1
Drowning deep in my sea of loathing
Broken your servant I kneel
Will you give it to me
It seems what's left of my human side
Is slowly changing ... in me
Will you give it to me
Looking at my own reflection
When suddenly it changes
Violently it changes
Oh no, There is no turning back now
You've woken up the demon ... in me
Chorus
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Open up your hate, and let it flow into me
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
You mother get up
Come on get down with the sickness
You fucker get up
Come on get down with the sickness
Madness is the gift, that has been given to me
Verse 2
I can see inside you, the sickness is rising
Don't try to deny what you feel
Will you give it to me
It seems that all that was good has died
And is decaying in me
Will you give it to me
It seems you're having some trouble
In dealing with these changes
Living with these changes
Oh no, the world is a scary place
Now that you've woken up the demon ... in me
Chorus
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Open up your hate, and let it flow into me
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
You mother get up
Come on get down with the sickness
You fucker get up
Come on get down with the sickness
Madness is the gift, that has been given to me

Bridge 2(abuse scene)
No mommy, don't do it again
Don't do it again
I'll be a good boy
I'll be a good boy, I promise
No mommy don't hit me Oh-oohh
Why did you have to hit me like that mommy
Don't do it You're hurting me Oh-oohh
Why did you have to be such a bitch
Why don't you,
Why don't you fuck off and die
Why can't you just fuck off and die
Why can't you just leave here and die
Never stick your hand in my face again bitch
FUCK YOU
I don't need this shit
You stupid sadistic abusive fucking whore
get ready to see how it feels mommy
Here it comes, get ready to die
Final Chorus
Ooh Ah Ah Ah

Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Open up your hate, and let it flow into me
get up, come on get down with the sickness
You mother get up
Come on get down with the sickness
You fucker get up
Come on get down with the sickness
Madness has now come over me
U don't know it yet, but u r a metal head for sure! Watching ur rock journey gives me a new appreciation for music. Thank u!!
The ammount you loved it the second you heard his first scream had me in stitches. You had the same reaction to every person 16 years ago hearing this😂
Obrigada por compartilhar a letra dessa música ❤ adoro está banda 🇧🇷
The best thing I have heard said about David Draiman is that he was asked, "Do you want the voice of an angel or the voice of a demon?" And David simply answered, "Yes."
Prayer and Remember by Dusturbed are absolutely worth the listen. David has one of the best voices in music.
I'm a 54 year old woman. Have lived and loved metal so my life. Watching your reactions is like watching a young child on Christmas morning!! Fucking love how much you're loving our music.
Now then...METALLICA OR MEGADETH!!!
Same here... 56 year old rock chick. You are a breath of fresh air.
Same!!!! "Buhahahaha welcome to the dark side"
Disturbed is my all time favorite band. I am glad you are discovering them. David’s voice is absolutely amazing. You have to hear The sound of silence to see his full range and really how amazing he is!
Yeaaahh they have a lot of good stuff but The Sound of Silence is a really good choice for beginners, it's powerful af with David's voice.
Sound of Silence is what introduced me to Disturbed and they quickly became one of my favourite bands. I really don't like the original Sound of Silence but their cover of it is waaay to beautiful to dislike
😊😊😊B:ňj@)lp
Jjj😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Agreed although I think YT would block it unfortunately.
You spoke of my heart. That song is AMAZING. They've done such a perfect version of it.
the chorus: get up, come on get down with the sickness (x3), open up your hate, and let it flow into me, get up, come on get down with the sickness, you mother get up, come on get down with the sickness, you f_cker get up, come on get down with the sickness, madness is the gift that has been given to me!
The sound is guitar harmonics. Achieved by touching the string and strumming at the same time in a special and precise manner.
Here is what the singer stated about what the song meant
"I'm really talking about the conflict between the mother culture of society, who's beating down the child yearning for independence and individuality, and the submission of the child."
That's exactly what I was going to say, it's a betrayal of the internal sense of justice, it's the pain and anger you feel you've been unfairly suppressed, he's asking everyone to feel the same sense of outrage.
While I absolutely loved your FIR reactions with their comedic highlights, I think this is my favorite rock reaction of yours because of your genuine willingness to let the music effect you viscerally and your artistic intellect to recognize David (singer of Disturbed) as an artist and poet. You react to music much in the same way a lot of rock/metal heads do. It’s not about anger - it’s about emotion, release, and having something that expresses what we may not be able to with words. Thanks for going on this journey Teddy!
I get really disheartened when people say rock is all anger and screaming cause it’s so not. It’s very cathartic music to me and feels very honest and real. I also think painting the world as happy go lucky pop is not realistic 🤣
This was beautifully put, thank you!
@@sejbomb I never really experienced those people and I'm not sorry that I missed them, haha. I found BVB about twelve years ago, they have been my favourite band ever since and I am so happy for it because I really hate pop music. KPOP was a way for me to get what liked about pop music but without what I hated as well. Anyway, if there was ever anger in rock song, it was always righteous in a way to me but any emotion in rock has never been misplaced, it is always directed somewhere and I love that. I found more sadness as a theme than anything but sadness and rage go hand-in-hand for me. I'm happier listening to a sad (and/or angry) song than any other because rock and alternative genres taught me so much about how all emotions are healthy and hearing an emotionally sad song taught me that I wasn't the only sad person in the world. It makes me happy to know that my experiences and emotions are shared by legions of others and that we can all come together under the beauty of music is very amazing.
Anyway, I just had this realization now but it makes realize that I would be a very different person in a much worse mental place if it wasn't for Black Veil Brides and the world they opened up to me. The first song, I couldn't understand a word but I was moved in a way I had never been before and like a junkie, I chased that feeling and what gave it to me and here I am twelve years later. Thank you, so very much!
Ok little bro, the Sickness is madness. The song is about a boy who was abused to the point of madness. He is warning those around him that the demon inside him has awoken.
You need to check out the song with Lzzy Hale and Amy Lee, give you the shivers I promise
The lines you asked about are "You Mother Get Up" and "You F'er Get Up". The song is about mental illness and the descent into madness. The uncut version will show you the moment he "snaps" and loses it.
Disturbed - Stricken - Shows the talent of the whole band. x
There as been a scientific study done that states, people who listen to metal/hard rock are generally happier than most.
Metallica-- master of puppets
The Hu band--Wolf Totem (official)
Jinjer--Pisces (live session)
And anything by
Megadeth,
Keep up the great content my guy
Peace ✌️ and love ❤️ from Canada 🇨🇦
Been loving your rock reactions! Takes me back to my teen years! Definitely recommend System of A Down, Slipknot, Flyleaf, Korn, Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance
Right? It's like we get to relive out now discoveries.
Exactly! And heavy on the Flyleaf! I remember being so fascinated with Lacey’s vocals and trying my hardest to scream with her!!!! 😂😂😂
Korn, Deftones, and Flyleaf was my first concert!
That is a sound on a guitar called a “harmonic”, there are harmonic over and under tones. Essentially what happens is the lend of the string, when you break it up to different lengths the strings make a noise based on the length and diameter of a string; also how instruments make different tones because the distance the air travels is longer or shorter. Normally you push down the string and it stops vibrating where the metal fret wire is, and that’s how we make different pitches on a guitar, violin, etc. On guitars, you don’t have to push the fret down the entire way, as long as you touch it in the correct place, half the length of the string, a third of the length of the string, 2/3’s the length of the string. It’s a very light touch in the correct place above a fret, and it allows the string to vibrate on it’s originally tone, but also allows a secondary tone for the other side of where your finger touched the string. So they’re vibrating on multiple, usually complimentary wavelengths. It is much easier to hear the extremes on electric guitars with amplifiers, but they are there on even acoustic guitars. Then when things get more complicated you can make “artificial harmonics” that are even more harsh because the tones aren’t as complimentary to each other, or happening at more unnatural places. There are other tapped harmonics that you can do on a string because you’re fretting it in one place, changing it’s length, and then tapping the string with another finger to get the natural over/under tone for what the remaining length of the string is there. It’s amazing how versatile many instruments can be and what people are able to figure out with them over the centuries. I love your reaction and how much you’re just taking it in and getting into it. As others have said, the album version (not radio edit) gets into how troubled he is, the abuse from his mom, and him becoming that sickness; he’s a victim.
You should listen to the album version where he has the tortured monologue about being abused as a child. Makes this even deeper. And Draiman has one of the best voices out there at the moment, super versatile and flexible. Also, listen to their cover of Sound of Silence for a really chilling experience
Thank you TEEDDY!!! for reacting to Disturerbed!!! (Need to listen to the uncut/full version of the song, It's so powerful)
They are one of my favorite bands!!! and I was so happy when they came to perform in my town a few years ago!!!
I grew up on them and they are such an amazing band, such amazing people and they're so good live!!!
I love how you dive into music as music, and recognize how good it is, no matter the genre, and how the singer is a true artist and a poet.
It really means a lot to me as a Rock fan.
A lot of people dispiss it as just noise with no meaning, but you are "The Master" of meaning, and you care a lot about it. I really love that about you as a reactor and as a fellow lover of meaningful music.
And In case you didn't read the lyrics, they're kinda harsh...
"Can you feel that?

Such a powerful song...
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE listen and react to Prayer by Disturbed. Disturbed hit the main stream while I was in High School and they were the first rock concert I attended. But to get the full effect you need to listen to the uncut version of this song. The diatribe (best word I could think of) he goes off on in the end, pretty much explains the sickness that was given to him. Absolutely loved the reaction, Disturbed is a band I would really love to see you further explore.
There is an old Iron Butterfly song called “In a Garden of Eden” that the lyrics were so hard to understand it is actually listed on the album as “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”. This is an easy one to interpret.
Sound of Silence by Disturbed is a MUST WATCH!
You have to do more Disturbed! Their song "The Night" is amazing, so is "The Light", they went crazy viral with their cover of "Sound of Silence" its a MUST. It has almost a billion views
Yes yes to The Night!
The Night goes crazy!
I love The Night!!!
want a change of pace? try Disturbed - Sounds of Silence (Simon and Garfunkel cover)
No! The clean version!😢 the whole mom part is fuckin nuts
It’s mad 🤣 he was almost gonna be right on the mum thing too.
Rock and especially hard rock/metal as sub- genre like pretty much all music genres is a very diverse genre. You can find not only a lot of variety in sounds but also in content. Some entertaining, some inspirational, some thought provoking, some cathartic, some saddening, some frightening. Some disturbing. Some heartwarming. Some motivational. Back in the 60s rock songs were often protest songs again the war. Even now some rock songs are anti war songs. Disturbed even personally has not only such protest songs (or has done covers of other bands anti-war songs) but they even have a climate change/anti reckless consumerism song called "Another way to die". They also have a song about suicide called "Inside the fire" that is semi-auto-boigraphical if the lead sings past and how he felt as a teen after his girlfriend/ex-girlfriend killed herself. Hard rock and metal especially can be very profound in the things they cover. Sadly when most people think of metal they think of screaming and death metal (I personally even thought this way when I was young even as I unknowingly listened to lighter heavy metal bands thinking they were hard rock).
The uncut version gives so much more context to what the sickness is
The uncut version explains what the "sickness" is... Go Listen🤟🤟🤟
The weird noise in the chorus is called a harmonic. It's made by softly touching your finger on the string and metal part that seperates the frets on the guitar, and playing the string.
I’ve honestly never thought about the meaning behind the lyrics…but to me, thinking about it, it’s kind of like a description of what it’s like when you start to listen to a banger, and suddenly it changes, violently it changes, your reflection isn’t the same, and its a gift given to me to listen to it. Can’t deny it, feeling the music (sickness) is amazing.
Now, the thoughts about the abusive relationship with his mom (heard in the unedited version) I’ve read multiple times that is not true, it’s not his mom he’s referring to. I can’t for the life of me remember who or what it’s truly about, but he loves his mom and she’s a good woman.
Either way, idk, I feel like “the sickness” is basically kinda like the stank face you can’t help making when you hear a good banger 🤷🏼♀️ I’ve been listening to them for 20+ years and this is still a favorite. Saw them live twice and this is always a crowd favorite (best show was them, followed by Slipknot in 2005. Fucking. Amazing
Also, I spat in my phone when you said you want to damage a tree 🤣🤣👊🏻. I get it 🤘🏻
Linkin Park please!!!
They have such a wide range of music it’s hard to recommend just one song! Some of their stuff is more rock based, some is more rap/ hip hop based and some is more pop based. Maybe start with a couple older songs like “In the End” or “Numb” and then branch out to literally any of their songs.
After you check those out please, please 🙏 please check out their song, “Good Goodbye” (feat. Pusha T and Stormzy)!!!!!!!
David Draiman is an amazing vocalists! I am so happy that you recognize that. I love the pure joy you have when you are listening to something you enjoy. The line that you couldn't figure out what he was saying was "Get up, come on get down with the sickness". I love this band, I have seen them in concert a couple times, when I was younger. Here is my TMI about Mr. Draiman: He is a gentleman! Very classy and all around amazing. The first Disturbed concert I went to was at a festival, so it was all lawn seating. I was near the back of the crowd and this jerk thought it would be funny to grab me, pick me up, and throw me into the crowd! Before I even knew what was happening I was flying and the crowd surfing. I was terrified. It was awful people were taking advantage and grabbing me in places that no one should touch without concent. I was screaming and just generally freaking out. David stopped the band and started yelling at the crowd calling the guys disrespectful peices of ****. Security came over and carried me up front. David had security kick some of the guys out. I was a freaking mess, my clothes were torn I was crying and shaking. He asked if I was okay, I said not really and he asked if he could give me a hug. He gives great hugs! He told me he was sorry that happened to me and had security bring a chair and let me sit on the side of the stage for the rest of the performance. He made sure I had water and a towel, they brought me a shirt since mi lne was torn.
What had started out as a terrifying and traumatic experience, turned into an experience of a life time and a hug I will never forget from a kind man.
Draiman made that ooh wah haha sound in rehearsal once, and the band kinda said WTF laughingly. Next thing you know, here it is!!
That's the edited version. Listen to the unedited at least once to get more of the message. There's a whole portion after, "and when I dream..."
And it does involve a mum 🤣🤭
Disturbed has been on my playlist for 15 years, and they will stay there. David Dramen has a really powerful and schooled voice. I would def suggest you to dive into more from them like;
Stricken
The Light
A reason to fight
And of course Sound of silence. It is a cover of Simon and Garfunkels song, but it's so well made that Paul Simon actually said that the song is theirs and put it on his own playlist.
If you feel like continuing the Disturbed journey, I would suggest "Sound of Silence" and "Indestructible". Aside from Disturbed, try Skillet Legendary, and Shinedown Monsters.
11:21 Disturbed never gave anyone the sickness, they just supplied it and we consumed it.
I second reacting to Disturbed The Light. Talk about power in words...
How did i miss this and only seeing it 4 days later?!?! 😭😭 Disturbed are amazing! Deify. Inside the fire. The vengeful one. All my favorite songs.
What really cool about David Draiman (the lead singing) is he was trained as a cantor as a child prior to Disturbed, so he actually has the vocal training for singing/chanting. If you listen to The Sound of Silence you can really hear it shine.
The reason a lot of us have nostalgia for rock music is because its typically very emotionally written. A lot of rock and metal songs are about serious topics like drug addiction, mental illness, war, loss, and suicide, all very relatable topics that the typical person understands, but a very unfortunate lot can personally relate to. Rap music doesnt resonate with me because I grew up in the city experiencing gang violence and drinking lean at house parties. Rock music resonates with me because I was a socially stunted autistic child with divorced parents in a small town that was addicted to pain killers and had an abusive dad, and when you're 12, you cant punch your dad, and you cant punch a hole in your dads wall, so you just scream internally and listen to slipknot, like any other central U.S. suburbanite kid with divorced parents living in the country with a struggling household
the sound you're describing is called a harmonic. It's a note relative to the original tone that resonates on a guitar when you play the string dampened. If dampened by the fretting hand, it's just a harmonic. If dampened by the picking hand, or more specifically the thumb, it's a pinch harmonic. This is what it sounds like when played on an electric guitar with distortion.
Thi song is on the Queen of the Damned soundtrack, based on Vampire Lestat
The sound of silence is believed to be one of the most difficult if not THE MOST DIFFICULT song for a vocalist to sing. You'll absolutely love it!!
Good to listen to the original first, to see the difference in emotion
If you haven’t yet seen it anywhere ther amazing Disturbed song, and they do have many is… Don’t Tell Me, Disturbed and Ann Wilson with her amazing voice still at age 70.
This song is iconic! I would also say the same of "Chop Suey" - System of a Down, or "Psychosocial" - Slipknot.
Ah man this song was a staple growing up. This version did not have the "No Mommy" section which would have blown Teddy's mind.
The sickness is when you go primal. Something flips that switch and you go wild.
His voice is god tier especially as a rock/metal vocalist
teddy my brotheeer! Parkway Drive Wild eyes plzzz! cheers from Argentina!!
Hands down Disturbed gave us the best cover of our generation to "Sound of Silence" from being such an upbeat song to making the darkness shine is just insane! David's vocals in the song is just so raw and intense it takes your breath away!
"Get up, get down with the sickness. You want to get up, get down with the sickness. Open up your hate and let it flow into me". Then the second time I think (I could be wrong on this) he changeless it up and says "father get up, get down with the sickness, mother get up, get down with the sickness (again I could be wrong about this part and be missl-hearing it)" then he finishes it with "madness is the gift that has been given to me".
Can't wait to see what you think of "Sound of Silence". But to get the full effect you really need to see both Disturbed's remake and the original by Simon and Garfunkle from 1964 back to back.
Great reaction Teddy! It looks like the sickness is possessing you already. It's so fascinating how people with no connection to Rock/Metal whatsoever instinctively start to head bang. It's like a universal language. I love that. I think you are ready for some Slipknot!!! You should start with the mandatory banger called "Duality" I guarantee you will enjoy this. "Psychosocial" is also a solid start. Keep on doing the stuff that you are doing. It's fucking entertaining.
I thought the same thing about the head banging. It just came so naturally
Rap fans first slipknot should always be spit it out. Then
duality
"I want to punch a wall. I want to damage a tree." HAHAHA
If you haven’t punched a wall at some point listening to rock or metal, you’re not doing it right 😅
Now that youve listened to Disturbed well known song, Down with the Sickness, it is time for you to listen to Disturbed's The Sound of Silence cover so you can hear David Draiman's vocal control and beauty!!
I also know he has it on queue, but the excitement of how Teddy's reaction will be to Sound of Silence is already making me so anxious for the next notification i get!
So happy you are listening to Disturbed!! I left some song recommendation on the Patreon, can't wait to see you listen to other Disturbed songs!
This one made me really happy!!! Disturbed were my favourite band for so long - they're still very much up there! What songs did you suggest?? I have bombarded a frankly embarrassing amount of recommendations on Patreon! Hopefully we've hit some of the same bands haha!
Stricken and Ten Thousand Fists were added to the Watch Later! im looking forward to hearing more from this band, this song was instantly unforgettable!
We need some Linkin Park here.
Madness is the gift that has been given to me. The other part is "When you give in to me" (Mental illness).
Myles Kennedy (Lead singer of Alter Bridge) does a great duet with Disturbed of Sound of Silence.
Alter Bridge is incredible and I would recommend their song Blackbird which is not a cover of the Beatles song, but their own masterclass
Great reaction! Bro we gotta get We got the moves by Electric Callboy! Absolutely mind melting with ridiculous switch ups!
Yessssss to Electric Callboy!!!
I second this notion! They are SO good at what they are doing with their music.
YEs I’ve been waiting for Disturbed just so I could recommend Sound of Silence (although their entire discography is amazing❤) David Draiman’s voice is second to none. A lot of their songs are actually mean to be more introspective- DD has dealt with mental illness and some really traumatic events in his life (his gf at 18 committed the big S) so he writes a lot about the struggle with his demons and the dark sides of himself (aka “the sickness”).
Best reaction ever to Disturbed's best song ever. And yes, please listen to the uncut version .
Those sounds you’re hearing at roughly 8 minutes in your video is what is called a harmonic. It’s an effect created by very lightly touching the guitar string while it’s being picked.
I subbed this channel for the k-pop reactions but I'm ALL here for the rock journey! This is such an iconic song. And yeah, those crazy vocal noises are originally theirs. I believe the vocalist David is a classically trained vocalist and he has amazing control over his voice.
Yes, please do The Sound of Silence. The music video has some great visuals that go well with the lyrics. The live performance on Conan is amazing, too. You should do both, back-to-back. 😊
That would blow his freaking mind.
"get up, come on and get down" is the "mumble" words you search for :)
Metal is more emotional than most love songs once you listen to the lyrics and understand the meaning.
Loving your rock reactions and looking forward to more! 👏🏻
David Draiman... the best vocalist!! He's got major control of that awesome voice! He's got such power when he wants it. No one knows his voice range and control until he sang Sound of Silence, The man is amazing! Have seen them live 3 times... he sounds just as good live! Dave can actually put vibrato on distortion which is extremely difficult to do! Loved your reaction Teddy.
"You might not get up if i get down with the sickness" is the lyrics you couldn't understand!
The high pitched noise the guitar does is a "pinch harmonic" essentially the pitch of a note jumps up when you hit your thumb on the string after plucking it at a specific spot.
Love this song. My niece who is 25 said who doesn’t know this song but she grew up listening to my music. She reminded me this song is on the awesome Queen of the Damned soundtrack. May listen to them later. You will love Aaron lewis and Staind their song Mudshovel is exquisite. If no one has recommend Korn or nine inch nails. Man this is going to make me pull out my cd books.
Forsaken by David Draiman is the best one on the soundtrack, probably second best is Slept So Long by Jay Gordon.
One of the best live bands in my opinion. I've seen them when this first came out and 5 more times over the years, the last time they were celebrating 25 years since the first time I heard them! The only other bands I've seen that many times is Korn and Tool. David Draiman has amazing vocals! If you haven't checked out Korn ( especially the older stuff) and Tool, I would suggest them. They are all legends.
Ohhhhh yes!!!! Are you ready?!?!?? 🤯KoRn KoRn KoRn!!!!!🥰🤤
The song is about how mainstream society treats outcasts and anyone who doesn’t fit into “normal” society, the unedited version has another verse that using mommy and child abuse as a metaphor for it
Lyrics to Down With The Sickness
Can you feel that?
Ah, shit
Oh, ah, ah, ah, ah
Oh, ah, ah, ah, ah
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Drowning deep in my sea of loathing
Broken your servant I kneel
(Will you give in to me?)
It seems what's left of my human side
Is slowly changing in me
(Will you give in to me?)
Looking at my own reflection
When suddenly it changes
Violently it changes (oh no)
There is no turning back now
You've woken up the demon in me
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Open up your hate, and let it flow into me
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
You mother get up come on get down with the sickness
You fucker get up come on get down with the sickness
Madness is the gift, that has been given to me
I can see inside you, the sickness is rising
Don't try to deny what you feel
(Will you give in to me?)
It seems that all that was good has died
And is decaying in me
(Will you give in to me?)
It seems you're having some trouble
In dealing with these changes
Living with these changes (oh no)
The world is a scary place
Now that you've woken up the demon in me
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Open up your hate, and let it flow into me
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
You mother get up come on get down with the sickness
You fucker get up come on get down with the sickness
Madness is the gift, that has been given to me
No mommy, don't do it again
Don't do it again
I'll be a good boy
I'll be a good boy, I promise
No mommy don't hit me
Why did you have to hit me like that, mommy?
Don't do it, you're hurting me
Why did you have to be such a bitch
Why don't you
Why don't you just fuck off and die
Why can't you just fuck off and die
Why can't you just leave here and die
Never stick your hand in my face again bitch
Fuck you
I don't need this shit
You stupid sadistic abusive fucking whore
How would you like to see how it feels mommy
Here it comes, get ready to die
Oh, ah, ah, ah, ah
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Open up your hate, and let it flow into me
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
You mother get up come on get down with the sickness
You fucker get up come on get down with the sickness
Madness has now come over me

It’s great seeing the emotion rock/metal music brings out in people who aren’t used to the genre. It’s not just screaming and anger like many think.
I can’t wait to see you jump into the Sleep Token journey. Their genre bending style, insanely deep lyricism, hard guitar riffs, and just the head filling sound they produce is like nothing else.
Linkin Park is coming I hope🙏🏻
Thanks bro, i absolutely and throughly enjoy watching you not only listen to metal but actually getting it!!! Its a feeling a lifestyle, im a fan of all kinds of music but nothing hits me like GOOD metal!!! Enjoy!!!
The Sound of Silence is definitely a cover, but IMO, it’s the best cover. David Draiman is an incredible vocalist. Very, very intelligent man.
Amazed of seeing you experience this arena of rock music. These are the types my mom used to throw me some hard slippers to stop playin' when I was in highschool 😂😂😂 the moshpit culture way back was insane!!!
Hope you can also listen to System of a Down - B.Y.O.B., Toxicity, Atwa, Chopsuey
When reaction to Jinjer - Pisces?
Slipknot - "Wait and Bleed"
I would imagine someone already answered this but sounds like a guitar pick sliding along the string. Btw one of the best bands ever ❤
Loving these reactions bro, Im excited for you starting this journey!
Not sure who is telling you to listen to The Sound of Silence. Its a superb cover and fantastic vocal performance by Dave Draiman but its not a rock cover so its not going to be representative of rock or metal if thats your deep dive.
If you want another Disturbed song to listen to, try 'Stricken' - its high energy, very popular amongst fans and non-fans of Disturbed and a Guitar Hero favourite. It also has one of the best solos in metal, the tone on the guitar is out of this world.
🎉 first time seeing a premiere!🥰🤗💕 you’re one of my favorite reaction channels!! I need more falling in reverse from you though!! And more ren!❤
8:00 those were harmonics of the guitar, are made intentionally by rubbing the fingertip with the string. Are frequently used in this genre ^^
Dave has one of the best voices in Metal/Rock!!!
Absolutely loved your reaction to this! Seeing the music hit you was amazing! David Draiman the lead singer has an incredible vocal range.
This song came out when I was 14 and still hits as hard as it did the first time I heard it on a friend's cassette tape 😅
Keep deep diving please 🙏
I feel like you have hacked my spotify. I subscribe because im a stay and love your reactions. I have loved disturbed since i was a teen and have even seen them live. I am loving going on this journey with you with every artist you reast too. ❤
