- Star Wars The Acolyte trailer gave us a new Sith and also, possibly Darth Tenebrous in a familiar ship from the Plagueis novel. Leslye Headland has new comments about the Jedi and what to expect in the High Republic Lucasfilm Disney+ series.

Honestly, it's telling that Lucasfilm has avoided any cannon backstory on Palpatine. Palpatine is literally the biggest character in the whole saga spanning the entire saga. He's the reason behind all the events that are unfolding even in today's new content. It's odd that we have no new novels or shows showcasing this character more. I think his story and therefore Plagueis, etc. is a 'break glass in case of emergency' story and I don't think they are there yet, so I doubt they appear until later seasons.
I think R2s story needs to be told. The whills sent him out. Tell me more
To the people who have a hard time seeing the Jedi like this, just look at what they did to Ahsoka. And she was a padawan. Not just random people in the galaxy.
I always thought it would make sense that Darth Tenebrous is the main sith in this show. I hope it is Tenebrous. Surely, some legends need to become canon.
A lot of the Legends content should. The entire Darth Plagueis content should be. That book bleeds cannon.
Darth Plagueis himself and Tenebrous are Canon but i fully agree the book definitely needs to be canon
And im all for seeing non human Sith Lords showing up in Star Wars shows and movies
Making us look at the jedi in a different lights sounds refreshing in the live action side
I ❤ Star Wars and I give everything SW a chance. I suspect this show might be too smart for some but hopefully they can layer it with nuance to make it accessible to others. I respect her (show runner) efforts but this will be a tough cookie to crack. Exploring the dynamics of institutional vs revolutionary will be highly interpretive. IMO, I will love “The Acolyte” from what I’ve seen and hearing these details. Good or not, infallibility is not a quality known in this universe.
I just hope its a more fantastical varient of andor, where andor was about the people this is you know
@@Crocthunder The Jedi/Sith dynamic is always captivating.
Okay, I think at this point if Darth Tenebrous is involved he may be the Bith Sith craving the power of his master. The lightsaber welder may be a Knight of Ren.
No. We didn’t. Some of us said Darth Tenebrous from the beginning.
Cautiously optimistic, but we’ll see.
Thanks Meg! 🙏🏼
good work Meg🎉
As someone that always appreciated the Sith I’m specially looking forward to this show. I think it’s gonna be 🥜
Thanks Meg👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 It does give you some thing to think about.🤗
I can't wait. Bringing in ideas from Legends lore means it'll be canon after it's seen. This will be new ground that we're breaking. I haven't read a single book, but I trust the lore runs deep. It SHOULD be explored, and expanded upon if possible
Sith, from a certain point of view.. I am excited to watch The Acolyte.
As soon as you see the Sith and saw the helmet design, You immediately think "oh isht, Tenebrous"!
It would be nice to have an Easter egg moment of the ship used to take Younglings to Ilum
I am excited. As long as the story is good, I will be happy.
I have a good feeling about this.
Thanks Meg! Have a Good Weekend
People are forgetting that Kotor 2 did not paint the Jedi in a good light, and the protagonist goes against their institution. Like calm down, The Acolyte isn’t making it a political message, rather taking inspiration from what the EU did in the past. In Kotor, Kreia has monologues about the Jedi and the Masters in that game (for the most part) were stupid and arrogant.
The civil war was such a ridiculous mistake in a time where they NEEDED to be together yea. Its wild how many times the Jedi flirted with annihilation
Right I never understood people getting mad about Luke pointing out their hubris is how the sith rose to power to rule the galaxy in TLJ
Did they not watch the prequels or clone wars cartoon??
And Darth Gaen was his master and a female with Essence Transfer who never died. Note Tenerbous Master and Gaen opened Hokes in the Very Force. Im under the impression she was the Frmale Slave Master at Hunters moon in Darth Plagueis
@nodatastored684 Darth Gaen couldn't be his master because she predates him by four centuries. There's no evidence suggesting Twi'leks and Biths live that long in Legends. From what I've read, the oldest Bith lived to 84. Also Tenebrous killed his master sometime before he discovered Hego Damask.
Cautiously optimistic
Exactly
I think that she should sit down and have a conversation with George Lucas it would be interesting to see that happened
Hi Meg, awesome news update, mega excited about Acolyte and seeing who is the dark leader who nobody sees, I hope I won't be disappointed thank you SWM
NO beings or groups are perfect they all have hubris it makes sense the Jedi will not be reflected in the best light. I look forward to the Acolyte and how it plays out.
Yea, I wish people would get this about the show, the pov is gonna obviously not like them but they dont deserve to just be murdered for being the way they are either .
Fingers crossed, then young Plagieus tagging along.
Then you will hear the tale of young Plagueis the Unwise before he learned wisdom
Maybe in a few seasons , I dont think hes born yet
Where did we miss it?
We didn’t. It’s not there
They'll leave some strings tied to him, I'm sure. He could be around, but he won't likely be in the series... not in the first season. I've been speculating the masked person is Mae's sister and she's the assassin. She gets her own acolyte, Mae. She finds out in the end that it is her sister and she was left for dead in a fire. She's seeking revenge for the Jedi leaving her and her sister, Mae is seeking revenge for killing her sister.
If you look at the sith's fingers, they don't knobbed enough to be a bith's fingers.
Tenebrous is canon, his race isn't.
@@lucasrezendecorreadesouza1815
The Bith band is literally in ANH in the Mos Eisley Cantana
They're canon
@@thepubknight6144 lol I obviously meant that Darth Tenebrous exists in canon, but that doesn't mean he is a Bith in canon, got it now?
There is gonna be SELKATH IN IT , the bts stuff showed them making a cast and it looks sick
Yes, omitting Book of Boba Fett is very curious indeed. In the last video I commented that my wife and I do not feel much excitement for this series as we did for every other series to date. Perhaps it is because I have not read any of the Legends books, etc. I hope this series is great don’t get me wrong, I am just not as hyped but you are making me feel better about it.
I don't think so. Obi/Boba are officially 1-season mini-series, while Andor, Mando & Ahsoka will all have 2 seasons, as they hope with Acolyte. Plus, the most recent releases were Ahsoka, Mando s3 and Andor.
@@superjohngoldsmith8406 yes, I understand they were designed as single season shows, but they should still be acknowledged as being created by the studio.
This comes out the day after my birthday and I’m very excited
This is an EXCELLENT analysis and I want to be excited about this project, but I can't get past the 30 minute episodes...
i say bring it on lets have a look first, then slag it off later lol
When they first announce the acolyte, they said it was gonna be 100 years before episode one and then they moved it to 50 years before. If it is truly 50 years before, then it doesn’t make sense for Tanabris the Sith Lord at the time. It would have to be Plagueis. Big mistake in the timeline. So if he appears it ruins the entire timeline of the old Republic era
Obi-Wan and Boba Fett's show were further back. Andor, Mando and Ahsoka are more recent (Mando had a more recent season than Obi/Boba)
I am almost sure that if Darth Tenebris appears in the acolyte it will be something like the Luke Skywalkeer in the Force Awakens.
Channel name: Star Wars Reach
Fixed it for you
the martez sisters’ experience with and take on the jedi have become two of the most important if not the most important historical recounts in all of star wars. Why? Because they are of the common folk, a source theretofore untapped by star wars creatives. It is for the same reason that the subject of the jedi MUST MUST MUST be discussed by Luthen in Andor S2
@StarWarsMeg
Thank you Meg!
you've sparked a few different ideas and theories in me (however good, , that's not the point). I love how you inspire me to think about things in different ways
The concept of Good and Evil "simply" reflecting different points of view on the same situation pop-up throughout the Star Wars Universe, so it's not like this idea hasn't been flashing me openly forever... but i'm quite intrigued with a thought of watching a marathon of episodes 1 -> 9 in order, but starting with the Acolyte as episode 0 as the beginning. Episode 0 would have to be watched at least once beforehand, and assuming the Sith are the Protagonists and the Jedi are the Antagonists at the end of the movie, hold the good protagonist archytype from 0-9 as of follow the Plageus character (or character line or whatever) as the main protagonist until the end of episode 9.
It all makes sense now. We don't have to worry about the continuity with The Phantom Menace and the Jedi not encountering Sith for a millennium. It's BITH, not Sith. Easy peasy
I have no problem with any star wars story all you have to listen, read or watch
Maybe because I'm not a native speaker but I cant see how what you have read describes the ship on the screen.
Is that the Squid Game guy on thr thumbnail??!!
Here’s a question about anch-to I have: if both the Jedi and the Sith consider the island sacred, then if a Sith and a Jedi encounter each other on the island, would they refuse to kill each other, given the island’s sacredness?
The Sith don’t consider it sacred. I think much like Yoda hiding in a Dark side rich Dagobah, Tenebrous is hiding in a Light side rich Ach-to
Do a video of deleted charecters
I am really looking forward to this. The pity is that it looks to be a bit to cerebral for the basement dwellers. My hope for the series is that enough of the fandom are sufficiently open minded to give it a go.
There’s almost no chance it doesn’t flop.. listen to the director injected it with special agendas.. I hope it’s good but highly doubt it.
❤
I don't think this was Tenebrous but Venamis
I have a very very low expectations for the show but I'm going to give it a try so if by some chance it does turn out to be good then I'll be at welcome surprise but I won't be crushed if it turns out the way I expect
Remember that Obi-Wan told Luke that truth depends on your point of view..
"From a certain point of view " speech.
The Jedi & Sith both created horrific situations. Luke killed over a million people on the Death Stars. I know the DS blew up Alderaan. War is what it is. Bad things happen and things get broken. No matter what galaxy you're in.
Nothing Burger, however did anyone watch Star Wars Visions? The episode called “The Elder”. Did anyone notice that the two characters in that episode look just like the two Jedi in this trailer??
First thing I noticed. There's so much to learn & know. I may not like all the shows, but I watch them to learn...
I loved Obi Wan and Boba Fett, people were way too picky on those.
What is a Bith?
An alien race, there is one in the thumbnail.
Leslie Headland also said that Acolyte will explain why Luke in The Last Jedi was right about how Jedi should end. Which was in itself mistake as he at the end proclaimed that he won't be The Last Jedi and order is not end, while in The Rise of Skywalker he admmited that he was wrong. So she doesn't even understood entire meaning of both film, which were made BY DISNEY, her employer.
Well, you’re obviously a better creator/writer than them so get to work, fanboy.
As Leslie has said many times in her previous job, "shut up, and take it"

Can we stop saying the jedi kidnapped children? Even if it wasn't great to take children from their families, it's not the same as kidnap.
Also, I am nervous about the way the jedi will be portrayed. It was Luke's compassion that saved Anakin and that selflessness is how i thought of the jedi as a youngling. In the prequels and clone wars the jedi do come across as lacking compassion and foresight at times, but that was explained by the influence of the darkside. Will there ever be a point when the jedi are actually just good?
Kidnapped? The Jedi don't kidnap children as a rule. Their family/caregivers agree to have the Jedi take them. This is (by Jedi rules) usually after a Jedi familiarizes themselves with the family situation for an extended period. I'm pretty open to retconning as long as the explanation "works." But, if this show depicts the Jedi "kidnapping" children, it will be tough to make that "work." For me showing Jedi "kidnapping" children as a rule is a deal breaker.
Leading up to the events in the prequels Sifo-dyas began breaking this procedure to fast-track Jedi into the order based on his visions of the upcoming rising dark side. Maybe this show will have a Jedi doing something similar (breaking the rules to grow the Jedi ranks) because they sense the rising dark side.
Bro the show isn’t retconning anything, and the Jedi don’t spend long time with family’s or “ask permission”. That maybe a thing in legends or maybe it’s not super violent and etc sure, but they absolutely find the child and separate them from their families. Some people see that as kidnapping, even the kids themselves or their families / people in universe kind of imply that’s how they feel about it, and the Jedi aren’t 100% altruistic bastions of “good people”. That was the point of the saga with yoda and Obi wan being wrong about how Luke should handle Vader (they wanted him to kill him), and then the entire prequels shows an order that was too dogmatic, foolish, too involved in the politics, and that refused to help people the way they should have. The Jedi have always been flawed, this show is just supposed to stop shying away from it / isn’t going to show them as some deified superheroes. The Jedi are still better than the sith and some others sure, but just like religions today (looking at you catholic church, extremist islam, etc), it’s corrupted/corruptible & does very questionable things in some of its practices.
@@957kakashi
Repeat after me:
"IN MY OPINION."
@@957kakashi
& that's why I'm, what religious people call, an athiest..
@@957kakashi I don't consider retconning a bad thing. Star Wars has been doing it from the beginning or at least since Obi-wan's "From a certain point of view" speech. The only retcon I currently struggle with is Leia remembering her mother lol. The information about the Jedi spending time familiarizing themselves with the families and having the caregivers approval (as well as the Sifo-dyas info) comes from the recently released "The Living Force" novel. I think this is the first time they have clearly laid out the Jedi policy of "recruitment." I think typically it has been portrayed as an honor for parents to have their children become Jedi or (reluctantly) believing it was what was best for their child. To your point about Jedi being fallible, well of course! But, I hope if a Jedi is shown in "The Acolyte" to be strongly coercing or forcing caregivers to give away their force-sensitive child to the Jedi, it will be called out or questioned by another character or otherwise made clear the implication is that a (yes, fallible) Jedi is pushing the boundaries or at least bending the rules.
lucas made it ambiguous to whether the jedi were wrong, thats how it should be
I can see why people don’t sub to Meg
Chiiiiibiiiiii
Instead of making Jedi seem inept why not show how the darkness was so relentless and ruthless? But yeah EU/Legends stuff should be used in the storylines.
guys.. darth Tenebrous is legends canon. They don't have to use Tenebrous in the story. I think they will make up a new sith lord. If its him, then great
Why does everyone assume the person holding the red lightsaber is the Sith?
Who isn’t to say that’s the actual acolyte? Sith acolyte’s tend to also have lightsabers & in the previous clip we seen the ungloved hand of this character catching the red blade & the hand seemed smaller in size than a male’s hand. I think this is the acolyte & she is using the young former Jedi as a pawn & the trailers are deliberately misleading.
how is she going to tie the story to the phantom menace? by killing everyone? erasing the archives for episode 1?
Notice how Obi Wan en Book of Boba Fett are missing from the titles.... to be fair, i wouldnt brag about them either
************ SPOILER ALERT ************
This is not Tenebrous... This is the bringer of chaos.... The Mother... Abeloth. Gives some context to season 2 of Ahsoka.
So what you are saying is that yet another SW show is not going to be a fun action filled romp. Well this is going to suck.
I actually could care less about another Darth. Sorry Meg. We seen it all before.
So the Jedi are going to be made to look even stupider and weaker than they already do? Wonderful. 😢😢
I have no expectations on this as others have proven to be the usual disappointment, Andor 2 is our only hope. Many thanks, Meg.
No it's not. 😊

My comment made the video 🥹 humbled beyond words. My inner Star Wars nerd is beyond thrilled.

I get why the sith are the way they are,but jedi are not evil like the sith-no matter how you try to justify it.
Meg, It just seems like Leslye Headland writes too much of her own personal “self” into the story’s themes. To me, it seems like she pictures herself as the underdog vs a cold, uncaring institution like our modern day church with its stodgy rules (this is all in her mind) but in the story the modern church is the Jedi Order. She can’t see good vs evil, because she has to equate both sides and pick apart the “good” side, negating it to the level of its counterpart, while rising the level of the “bad", by minimizing it's harmful characteristics. That’s common of today’s progressive, they can’t say it was “bad” that Hamas launched an attack into Israel and burned Israeli babies in their cribs or attacked unprepared civilians. They’ll mentioned that Hamas is “occupied” so it was fair-game, despite the fact that Israel gave up a portion of its own land to give to Palestine and Israel and has totally withdrawn from that region; it is under Palestinian rule. Liberals will think that the Palestinians have brown skin, so therefore they are the victims, and the white -skinned Israeli’s are the oppressors. My point is that whatever you say that it was an unprovoked attack into Israel, progressives will have an excuse. They can’t see reality, they can’t simply see that something happened and one actor was bad and one actor was good. I admit, not all things in life are clear like an unprovoked attack, but I just choose this example as something that should be morally clear. I’m not Jewish or anything. One side was just going about their day. The other side doesn’t want Israelis to exist. Kinda like how it went on 9/11 for us. Sorry for my ramble. Thanks for all you do. Qui Gon was the best Jedi.
There are warm and caring churches today-please don't stereotype.
@@russellmarsden6316 I know that churches are warm and caring, I go to one. I was speaking as to what I believe Leslye Headland was thinking when writing Acolyte and why she wants to show the weakness in the Order, even though this is the period the Jedi are at their strongest.
That’s why I wrote in parenthesis "(this is all in her mind)”, because she is a non-believing progressive who is outside the church and views it as cold and uncaring institution. This is the way that she also views the Jedi. Not as an institution doing good, but as one obsessed with their rules, still damaging people if they get in the way (like the Martez sister’s parents who were accidentally killed when a Jedi tried to steer away a out-of-control ship from bystanders), and as if the Jedi are morally equivalent to the Sith.
As a Christian I know the truth. I see the church as the only, last hope for this lost world. Thank you for standing up for the Church. Until our Lord and Savior Returns, God Bless.
She thinks she’s going to challenge us mentally? I think she’s unarmed
For me it's a no lol.
Im willing to give this a chance. i hope its not too woke but considering lesley is a biological DNA man im not holding my breath. If he (lesley) can make a non woke star wars than this is a great chance to be really good. if it goes woke it goes broke in other words its amt. of views will tell us if its woke of course woke elements also tell.
The moment they had Luke declare "The legacy of the Jedi is failure," I was not onboard. This show just seems like it wants to amp that notion up to 11, and I find it all very tiresome. The Jedi made mistakes but by and large they were heroes and the galaxy would have been a far worse place if they never existed.
The Jedi order are, largely, failures. Sometimes they meant well, but in both high republic and modern republic eras, they allowed themselves to become too proud / arrogant / removed from their original goals etc, and allowed the dark side / sith to thrive under their noses. Things that wouldn’t have happened had they been less dogmatic/ allowed their members to love etc (Jedi got married often near the beginning and maybe later a bit before high republic time / during), opened their minds up to other philosophy, remained peace keepers / helped the common folk all the time / stood up to political leaders (especially corrupt ones) instead of working with them or being like their police force. The Jedi continue this when expecting that Luke should kill Vader, and he repeats it by sticking too close to the old order & being too fearful so he almost kills his nephew. Which we can rather if he had got married and led his order like he did in legends more instead, being more open minded or better than the old Jedi, but they chose to make him obsessed with bringing the old order back the way it was when his father was a Jedi. Not realizing that version of the order was too flawed and he should diverge. Hence why again, the Jedi legacy is sadly failure. It doesn’t make anyone all bad or that like their just pathetic & had no good ideas or something, it just means you didn’t quite achieve what you meant to. Or had missteps. You can still come back from most too. But y’all get too in your feelings over it, when we fail in life plenty or like there’s more merit in it than showing some infallible super monks who never get anything wrong.
They’re also not saying with any of this that it would be better had they not existed, they’re simply saying the Jedi needed to do better.
@@957kakashi What if they are saying the goodish but flawed jedi are as good as it gets. Almost as if they are saying; In the grim darkness a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, there is only war, specifically Star Wars ... sorry wrong franchise but still it sounds kinda cool.
Maybe it will surprise us but so far the Acolylte looks like it will be boring and charisma-free.
I hate to see another great EU novel having it's carcass eaten by the Disney mouse. The steaming pile of content it will leave us is no fun, either.
Star wars needs to learn from dune, all new star wars pretty suck nowadays. Kiddo movies
7, 8 & 9 excluded if you hate what Disney star wars is doing you never respected George's star wars and have an unhealthy relationship with fanfic. And if you watched the prequals and thought the jedi were right you completly missed the point, dogma was the downfall of the jedi they blinded them selves with ignorance.
Lol, "Only a sith deals in absolutes."
But seriously you have some good points. Though i's hard to address all the complexity and nuance in a couple of sentences youtube vid response. Cool thing about Star Wars is the depth and complexity of it's lore to nerd out over.
The Jedi in the prequels only looked somewhat rightyish because Palpatine and the Empire to come were so horrible IMHO. I'm glad more people appreciate the prequels these days.
End of the day it's all just silly stories so it's okay for everyone to have their opinions about the old and new star wars ... as long as everyone understands my opinion is the best and that Space Balls was the greatest Star Wars film ever made.
Great back to bashing the Jedi. In which once again we're going against George Lucas's wishes and his original story. So really this is a tack on the original series sorry I will not be watching the acolyte. Plus once again we're turning the Jedi into the evil ones and turn into evil ones into the good people. By throwing out all the things the so-called bad because you wanted that pick the system. My personal opinion they're attacking George Lucas's original ideal a good people absolute power and evil.
