This whole video about this bass and there's barely any coverage of what it sounds like.
It is fairly apparent that they were trying to highlight the unique features of the bass, which I think they did a good job with. I assume that the actual tone would be similar to other Zon basses. If you want to hear how Michael uses the instrument, you can listen to some of his music, as others have suggested.

The bridge seems similar to the TransTrem that Steinberger offered decades ago. I like the Hipshots on each string. Cool instrument. Would love to have a guitar with these options.

Clever stuff
"Wierd" is clickbait. "Innovative" is accurate. Michael Manring is a great bassist who's cadence, space, time and melodic sensibility is a wonderful contrast to all the great "shred bassists" today. I am not saying better or worse, but a creative extension of the sonic spectrum.

Having installed quite a few extender keys, just a quick word of warning. They don't work as well upside down as they do right side up. Gravity is one of the elements in how they work. The open lever will flop around and such.

@@ReeWebster i've modified mine as well I have one on the E of an upside down fender headstock. I had to bend the lever to help it clear the next tuner (not an issue right handed) and the fact that the lever will dangle instead of hold is a minor issue concerning stability. Still works. Can't fix the dangle if the unit is facing down.

This has always seemed pretty pointless to me, especially on fretless. Just tune down and play everything in a different position. Stop doing a simple task in the hardest way possible. The first time I ever saw him, the first five minutes of the video was him tuning, flicking hip shots and tuning again. It was so boring.
It would be literally impossible to play Michael Manring's hyperbass songs on a normal fretless no matter what tuning it's in.
Would have been better if your cameraman had focused on the mechanical components while you were describing them. Try redoing this video using a cameraman that is more technically adept.

That's interesting, to be sure, but I think I'll just stick with my 67 Gibson EB3!....Bought it NEW , still have it!...Just sayin'!
