Wow, beautiful instrument! Really captures the upright sound. I've always wanted to try out the Marcustico basses (never been able to find one), but I need to add the Benevolo to my list! It would be nice to see a fretted version of this instrument too.

Wow, that is incredible. I stopped playing an upright several years ago and now only play fretless bass guitar and do miss that upright sound. This is the closest upright tone I've heard so far on a bass guitar, beautiful instrument. Thank you for sharing this video

Shocked to hear it's 33". I thought it looked much longer! super cool though. Very clear sound.
it's not 33inch. Although the length from the bridge to the nut is 33 inches, the length of the instrument is measured longer.

The way you set up the amp, too, makes the tone come through as more a wooden instrument, if that makes sense.

Didn't expect it sounding good but it does! (piezo pickups are usually "meh")

What type of gut string did you put on there? It sounds better than the tape wound. Is it possible to make whole set of got for that bass?

Great demo and beautiful playing! I wonder if we could also hear one that's not a combination of the acoustic sound and the bass amp sound? Also just the Bass without the amp just to see how much sound it puts out on its own would be interesting as well. Thanks!

How can it be passive and have a piezo pickup? I thought they needed to be amplified with an active pre-amp to put out usable signal level.
It does sound excellent though!
It's possible. Might not work great with some amps, but this one is an acoustic instrument amp that Marco has, it has a high impedance input.

Pretty nice but sounds a bit dead in the higher register. Perhaps due to the gut G string? Would like to hear a 4 string model.
