I used to own one in 1970-72. Wonderful car, loved the window shade in front of the radiator. DSame color, how cool, easily beat MGB's and corned with the best.
I had a chance to test drive a PV544 in 1962. The car was VERY quiet and powerful for a small European car from that era. The ONLY problem I had was the blind spot created by the left "A" pillar, had to bend my head to see when making left turns. A shorter person might not have had an issue with the seat pulled up. A WONDERFUL, SOLID car!
I had one just like this, 1967 model, same color, slate gray. One of the best cars I ever owned.
...Volvo is such a Nice Car.....I Bought the Volvo 144S Manual..in November 1971....I was 25 y.o.....!!!
My first wife and I had a 1964(?) 544S, with twin SU's and a tachometer. What a sweet, pretty little car. Traded it for a 1970 142S with OverDrive and fuel injaction, but it wasn't as cute. Cheers from the Pacific West Coast of Canada.
I used to see another blue one, but older model (from the 50s), with split rear & front windshields, during the mid-60s. I was a teenager student and every day of those 3 years of walking early to the junior high school, I crossed with that blue Volvo - either parked in front of the owner's house or just leaving home.
Love this Volvo PV and the Amazon as well, very nicely built cars. Used to see a few of them in Uganda during my childhood. I read in one of the car magazines that the B18, 20 engines were bullet proof. The PV and Amazon raced in the East African Safari Rally.
The Volvo P1800 was considered "unbreakable" by automotive journalists. It used the B18 engine, it was actually "half" of a 8cyl truck engine!
Watch "Adam Bäckström Volvo PV ". Racing with an old car. He has but one pedal, and it is to the right-
The 5 cylinder engines in most 850s and S70s are in fact Porsche engines with one cylinder removed. A bit similar. Only the best stuff.
Learned to drive manual transmission in 59 in one of these. Built like a rock !
YES! Swedish STEEL and QUALITY craftsmanship!
She is a beautiful car, and I love that colour. Years ago the Volvo dealer we were using had a black P555 in the showroom. Asking about it, I was told it was a one owner car with a whopping 26,000 miles. The old lady traded it in on a new 242, and that the owner of the dealership had bought it himself. He was fair, I think. He gave you a brand new 242GL. Would still love to drive one
I can't remember the last time I enjoyed watching someone wash a car. Excellent job! I'll bring mine over.
When my mother learned to drive (officially), my father bought a well used 46 Ford 2 door sedan. Two years later a miniature 46 Ford pulled in the filling station where I worked. I have been enamored with that model Volvo ever since.

I owned two PV544 Volvo's! Awesome car.
One of these was actually my first car. That car was so rusted out the fenders fell off . Fixed the rust and drove it for 4 years till I was done with school.
It would start even at -40
Helt underbart att se!
Ingen EPA TACK!👍❤🇸🇪
Ask Geely to get right on that! Plus the P1800 and 145.
Always start to clean the car from the top to bottom.good sharing
Yes, true! But looks better on camera to start from the bottom. Thanks.
Those old Volvos were great looking cars.
Volvo had so many firsts, and this was an excellent car, seatbelts, Lombard support, crumple zones, just an excellent dependable car extremely well made, Volvo should never have sold.themselv3s to Ford.
i wish volvo still made their older cars...last forever..beautiful cars.
Nice car, my dad had one. Always work from the top down when washing. Good job!
I came here to make that same question. Seems like everyone on CZcams does the same. Waste of water because the dirt will rinse off and then go over the already rinsed parts.
Awesome Volvo always liked this style, design thank you , Steve
I actually remember seeing this car when I was just a kid.
Memories are fun. My first car was a 1958 PV444.
I owned a 1961 PV544 that I bought in northern Maine, USA in 1972 while in the US Air Force. Drove it home to North Carolina a trip of about 1100 miles without a problem. Decided to keep it doing most of the work myself though I did pull the engine for a full professional rebuild. Unfortunately the '61 was a 6vdc system with cursed SU side-draft somewhat leaky carbs though if I refrained from using the choke it was okay but keeping them balanced was bothersome. No rust and all body panels were in good shape with a color, I think, of gray beige a kind of off white. As various sections of the car are washed I go oh yeah I remember that having repaired, replaced or adjusted this thing or that. Loved that old car so simply and well made though lightly constructed before Volvo engineers thought of safety. Thanks for the memories.
My first car,ran great, looked like the one here.Sold it for little MG Midget, where all my problems started.Hey,I was 18.
Fantastiskt!!! Under huven nya bilen ❤ jättefin !❤️🔥
cleaned up nicely
There is a pristine one of these at Jattevågen in Stavanger. Lovely car .
Here’s me thinking this was going to be about an old Volvo restoration, not an advert for cleaning products.
Divinoooo, siempre me gustó mucho esta máquina
Good video! Thats some great cleaning products.
Que carro bonito. Esse processo de limpeza é excelente.
Felicitasiones a grandes maestros mecánicos fabulosos estraordinario saludos cordiales dé la república de Chile
every seals and gaskets had to be replaced, plus all fluids......then the. fun begins.....must clean underneath, all moving mechanucal parts to be replaced...total rebuild needed..all nuts and bolts. 100% rebuild,,,,,....
Beautiful !
My first car was a 1959 Volvo Pv 544. We're quite the rally car.
Nice looking ride. It is in great shape for it's age. Maybe you can get Vicegrip Garage to get her running.
I suspect that would be a long trip, from Sweden to the southern US. Fun if it could happen though. 😊
I read somewhere that the main bearings in the Volvo 4 cylinder were bigger than the mains in the old Chevy 409 V8, which was also considered an over designed engine, I believe.
A friend of mine in high school had a Volvo like this and put Ford chrome reverse wheels on it because the pattern matched so why not? Looked pretty cool back in the early 70’s. I always thought it looked like a 48?Ford. I hope you thought to put a paper gasket around the wing nut on that air filter since it’s low enough to puddle water. Youwouldn’t want it sneaking down around the stud and ending up in the intake. That would make me a darn nice project! Good luck with it!
Had one decades ago. Nice car. When Volvo was Volvo. Wis they'd bring it back in a modern version.
My favorite car thx man
Excellent
Beautiful! Bit worried about all the water in the engine bay. Be careful.
so few rusty, compliments, right a subject for recovery, it's a cost matter for final state
Ja jäklar! Underbart 🤗
Grymt med en ny video!😍
Thats a lovely project, fenders need a bit love but looks fairly good otherwise!
Nice exterior cleaning..engine nice too..please carry on..
Cleaned up real nice but does it run?
Not yet, but maybe soon! :)
@@Hampus_Granstrom We hope to see!! Greetings from UK
Some serious rust damage on that Volvo.
I remember when these were new and being sold in the U.S. Interesting cars, which always looked like late 40's American Fords to me. Why do you wash from the bottom upwards, instead of starting at the top and letting gravity do part of the work?
Bellissima
This Volvo looks like and VW Beetle with an engine in the front.
Outside cleaned up pretty well, but what about the interior. Also does it run.
Not yet, but hopefully soon!
He does everything from the bottom up. That's backwards. You wash from the top down so the dirt doesn't run over something you've already washed.
Thats correct! But its more satisfying to start from the bottom when doing a CZcams video.
Any updates on the car, it looks awesome for being parked in the garage?.
It has been parked for winter storage now, will work on it more next summer.
När Volvo var fortfarande svensk...
What happens to the vehicles after you restarted and cleaned it. Is there any restoration happening or do sell them. Be interested to see further work done. I was born in 1965 and had a Amazon of the same year. Owned and drove it for 13 year's. Unfortunately sold it. Rhennie from ZA.
My dad bought it at calls used cars they told him it was not worth fixing the damn crooks

cost new 2,500 dollars/////parts are not not not readily available !
I can only imagine you tested that battery to assure it was dead before blasting it with all those fluids - right?
Why is the body bleeding!
Rust dissolving!
That looks like my first car now have none or a home
1962? It looks like something from before the war.
The car was introduced in 1944 (PV444), modified model (PV544) buit from 1958 to 1965.
Just curious what you guys actually do with these cars after finding and cleaning them?
Me Too!
What is that dark purple gunk with the second wash? Rust??
Yes! Everything is rust, small particles that the chemical dissolves.
Hi, I have a question, I am looking for a dashboard for a volvo pv 544, year 1959, can you help me find where to buy?
Volvo
Isn't it more logical to rinse top down than the opposite ?
should have cleaned engine before body guys
True, but then all dust on the body would have been wet = not as satisfying video
Didn't Sweden drive on the left pre 1966?
@@Emund-Ulvbane But this one is a 62?
I hope that initial sudsing was rinsed before taking a mitt to the paint ! A mouse 🐭 family is now homeless! 😂
Pareci um fusquinha
Never had a news car and homeless at a shelter with bunch damn ppl that steal my mail not cool
Looks older...not 62...
Lindo lindo....🤩🤩🤩🤩
Please contonue
Too much chemical pollution for a rustbucket like that one. One big commercial for RW or whatever brand it is.
😅
He should clean it from top to bottom he is doing it bottom to top stupidly
Really? You powerwashing from the bottom up? Not so cleaver.
Its more satisfying to start from the bottom when doing a CZcams video.
your car is more dirty than the Volvo - you are not a good example to clean cars, when you own is much dirty,
And I thought the Citroen was the Ugliest Car ever made.............
What happened to the Saab? You said you were going to show more videos on it but never did
The engine in that car seems to have no compression, tried everything to get it running, have everything recorded to make a video but dont want to release it before its running.
@@Hampus_Granstrom okay that's fair, thanks for replying
Nice old volvo , rear wing and front wing need sorting out but easy fix with a little patience and know how . . By the way . Rinse from the roof down to sills . Not up to roof from sills . Amateur mistake . . Just saying . .
👍👍👍👍👍
