What did you think of this car? Pretty sweet piece of history right?!
Make sure to like & subscribe because we have some CRAZY stuff coming SOON!
Excellent washing and restoration job. It is a very comfortable and luxurious car like a Rolls Royce. My favorite is Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II and also the AMG 55 slk 2017
Excellent car! I'd have fun with this machine.
That’s a gangster-machanigun window lol
Why not to take wheels off and clear wheel arches?
Why not flat tires? 10 YEARS, 10 YEARS....
You reaaly need to update us on what happens with these cars. This girl is a classic.
Yes she is.🤗🤗
@@Repent-and-believe-in-Jesusit's a car video bro. No one is sinning here
You reaaly need to learn how to spell 😂😂😂
dont be a smart ass or that ass might get spanked but you'd probably enjoy it weirdo@@AyeJay20989
Probably gets left to rot again
For the Mercedes purist, you may want to change the title of the video to ...300d!. In the parlance of the M-B lineup at the time the upper case (D) indicated diesel power. While the lower case designated a model variant. Great job. Narragansett Bay
This is a diplomatic embassy car. This is a 60's era CEO's car. This is a high government officials car. This is absolutely pure class. This would have been parked in front of some very expensive hotels, or mansions in the day. Very beautiful. This is the embodiment of the old adage, "They don't make them like they used to". Thank you.
I think it was often called the Adenauer model since Konrad Adenauer served as the first chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1949 to 1963 so this is what he was often seen in.
@@emjayay Voll korrekt. Right on spot. you can see one at the Museum of german history in Bonn, equipped with a working space to do phonecalls, write or type...unbelievable for these days...
In my book, this is the BEST car that you’ve ever shown
My dream car, for sure
Jimmy Savile, Adolf Hitler or Al Capone - would look great in this car.
You dudes killed it on this one. I’ve been watching your videos for almost a year now. Always love the attention you give these weird forgotten gems. Much love from Detroit!
As a detail shop owner. I'm very jealous of the cars you get to work on brothers. But keep doing y'all's thing. Much love from Puerto Rico y'all! Viva la WD Detailing!
This Mercedes became famous because various German Statesman used them, there was one of them Mr. Konrad Adenauer who choose this particular model for many years and this car in the Mercedes Collectors World named it the Mercedes Adenauer. Congratulations, excellent discovery.
Great job guys! The "AirRide system" are torsion bars with an electro engine. The automatic 3-speed gearbox is a Borg-Warner "Detroid-Gear".
I had a toy of this when I was a kid.....I love these cars......there was one that a person owned in my town in the early 70's.......it was always very cool to see it in motion.
That’s so cool!
In Germany this car is commonly referred to as the "Adenauer-Mercedes" as this was Konrad Adenauer's, our first Bundeskanzler, first state limousine. Adenauer asked Mecedes later for a car with an extended chassis and a sliding roof.
I worked for Mercedes-Benz Canada during the early 1970s. The side windows on your 300 were removable so that "royalty" or politicians in the rear seat could see and be seen by the masses on the sidewalk.
We sold and maintained a model 600, the "Grosser Mercedes", prized possession of the manufacturer of the Ski-Doo snowmobile. It was even longer and more imposing than your 300, with beautiful but understated interior trim. Its pneumatic suspension suffered in cold Canadian winters, and that fact led to this particular car spending its winters indoors.
What an amazing job for an amazing car. Love how you understand how to preserve the paint and blended the newer and original paint. I’m very partial to the classic Mercedes cars with the beautiful lines and details. You guys always do an incredible job.
I've been restoring cars since the 1960's. Great workmanship guys, you are carrying on a long tradition of doing this sort of thing for love, not money.
You guy's really know how to bring a car back to life !
We need more men like you !
I have subscribed for a few years and really enjoy your new format. Brent was always more vocal but having RJ talk and joke around too adds a lot to the video. Keep it up. I look forward to Saturday morning.
Gorgeous car. Years ago my oldest brother had a Mercedes limousine class of roughly the year he was born (late 1970-ies). Everyone in my family are tall except my mom and we all comfortably could stretch our legs in that car.
One of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen.
True, but in the US you had also verry beautiful cars in the 50's.
In Germany that Mercedes had been called "Adenauer" because the first Kanzler of the new demokratic Germany had one.
The W186/W189 is absolute dream car of mine.
The quality of craftsman assembling that Mercedes was unmatched.
I completely agree
Gentleman, got to say i love these videos. Never thought watching a car (no matter how amazing) get washed would be so relaxing but this feels like therapy.
Great work, great videos. Thank you.
Can't wait for the next one.
the attention to the smallest details is amazing, i love how this awesome classic popped up
Beautiful example of Mercedes "Adenauer " (former German Prime minister using this cars as his Goverment vehicle). You made great job as usuall and I am glad to see it again!!
Brilliant and respectful work. Please also do the more beautiful 220 coupe in cellar, its even more rare than the 300 !
Great video guys well done. I loved how you explained the process and reasoning behind the polishing with thin paint. Well done.
Hey guys, to clean wood, equal parts of linseed oil, turpentine and vinegar makes a nice cleaner. A light buff with the finest grade steel wool will shine it up.
I almost bought a car like this one back in the 1970's. Instead, I got the SE coupe which was more sporty looking. At the time these cars were quite inexpensive, around $5-10,000. Today, if you could find a 300D in convertible form [they made a few of them] a restored example would probably cost you several hundreds of thousands of dollars!
The actual Mercedes designation for this car is 300d (W189), not to be confused with the later Diesel 300D (W123 and W124)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_W189
Very nice! Was very cool to learn about the thickness of paint, and your handy tool for measuring the thickness! Fun project!! Thank you! 😊☮️
Absolutely Outstanding, great job guys, very professional.
Miss Daisy. Y’all do a fantastic job and this one was so special to watch.
That has to be my favorite car you guys have ever done. Such a cool example of Mercedes Benz engineering
Fantastic work and a fantastic real Mercedes Adenauer. 👍🏻🏴
That car deserves a full respray
I had a friend who had one of these in the late 60's. It was chocolate brown but it did not have an engine. All we could do was sit in it and imagine going somewhere. We were in high school in Big Rapids, Michigan and it was a major thrill just to sit in it. The interior was in great condition and the back seat was truly amazing, extremely long like the video said. I moved to Texas so I have not idea whatever became of that car.
Y’all have some seriously cool connections to get to work on all of these old MB’s lately - what an awesome warehouse stash! Keep up the great work! They were always my dream car and I was able to get a GLC a couple years ago. I love to keep it clean but it needs some serious attention with recent winter weather driving 😂
An absolutely stunning vehicle......thank you for sharing 😊
Incredible job you guys are doing!
Great job cleaning that old Mercedes !
It looks like new again and amazingly it started ! 👍
I lived a Mercedes existence for 17 years when i bought a very used Mercedes 250se convertible and bit by bit brought it back to a beauty. Put it up for auction on Bring a Trailer and it was taken by an Austrian Millionaire. Payday was fantastic. Auction results are still on line at BaT July 2019.
That was amazing!! I liked seeing the carpet snaps because they still do that. The push button start..Wow how advanced. Really awesome car. 🎉
For the diesel variant of the 300, there is a control knob on the dashboard which when pulled out controls a rod/cable/switch. The rod/cable connects to the fuel pump and valve, which allows the engine to start. The switch, at the first position, activates the glow plugs, if necessary. If it is warm enough to disallow the use of the glow plugs, you pull past the first stage to the second stage, which engages the starter. As a side note, on the opposite side of the dashboard [to the driver's left side of the steering column], there is a chrome shrouded opening about the size of a silver dollar, behind which is a coil that glows along with the engine glow plugs, so you can see when they are heated. There is also a manual fast idle which may be used for while the engine warms to operating temperature. The way to turn off the engine is to push the knob back in. This turns off the fuel supply. Yes, the engine will run without the key being turned on, or even in the ignition switch, once started. The ignition controls the electricity for the glow plugs, as well as the starter and other electricals in the car. The engine, being a diesel, will run without electricity, as it has a mechanical fuel pump and injectors.
Парни, это бомба!!! На сколько же это потрясающая тачка, инженеры того времени просто гении. Спасибо за отличный контент!!!
I guess this one will turn more heads than the newest Ferrari....
My father owned a 1959 300D. I took my driver's license test in that car. With only 180hp it wasn't quick but it cruised beautifully. It was an early example of a fuel injected car.
Gorgeous car! You really did a great job on all the little details… I’m glad you didn’t find a body in the trunk because these big Mercedes had kind of a reputation for being the favorite ride of dictators as well as celebs. That coupe that was in the parts warehouse was really cool too, although it looked pretty rusty. I keep seeing that black Starion in the background, I’m excited to see what’s next!
What a beautiful, elegant car. Great job as always. Keep 'em comin'!
I think this was known as an Adenauer and I suspect the styling - especially the absence of a B pillar and the rear window popping out comes from the 1956 Imperial Crown Southampton - put them side by side and you cannot deny the similarity.
No question in my mind: Konrad Adenauer and Ludwig Erhard would have been the rightful passengers in this automobile. 🤗🤗🦘🇦🇺
I doubt anyone here understands You
@@peers1111I do.
Adenauer was the first chancellor after the war.
So the first one to rule Germany after Hitler.
And I'm not german.
Two of the greatest men in the history of mankind, examples of dedication and defenders of the fundamentals freedoms of the individual.
I had a black one with blood red, leather interior. You can recline the front seats flat and make a giant bed. All the windows rolled down and all of the quarter windows come out nothing like it. 300d it was a small D so you didn’t confuse it with a diesel. Order from Mercedes dealer in the early 70s for $750 broke down and I sold it for 500
What a beauty!! Thanks for sharing this content. None between the nowadays cars will hold up so great in 60 years time.
Another awesome find by the barn find kings. Great video guys.
The first person I thought of riding in this car back-in-the-day was Elizabeth Taylor and then the Pope popped into my head. What a combination.
It looks so good it's really cool you guys got to clean it up it's crazy it was just sitting like that tho but I always love the videos you guys upload and I feel like the queen would have been driven around in one of those cars
You guys are very Worthy of the work you do ❤
My mother broke her water in that car (my father’s car), yup I did that. I have that vehicle now; same make, model, color and year! Has a very distinct Mercedes purrr to the engine and cloud 9 ride as it glides down the highway. The car series is nicknamed “Adenauer” after the first chancellor of post WWII Germany , Konrad Adenauer, who loved the car so much. Iv believed he owed 2-3 over his lifetime. The original Blaupunkt radio also comes with a short wave radio which is fun to listen to on cloudy days. The car has an interesting history, it was originally owned by the nephew of Milton Hershey, of Hershey, PA, yes that Hershey guy 🍫. Milton never had any children in life and his fortune was left to his nephew and some others His nephew in turn gifted the car to his GF who drove it out to CA where it sat beside a mecinhis family.hanic’s shop with a lien on it for work done on it. My dad saw it one day in 1972 and bought it from him.
Great car and great job bringing this legendary car back to life! I would definitely like to see you guys do the same thing with the other Mercedes that was in the garage as well!
R.J. and Mike are excellent automotive detailers. Thank you,
Those early Mercedes-Benz they built in the early 60s are very beautiful cars this one managed to survive pretty good you guys do good work
I really love those classic Benzes. The nice fresh looking Interstate battery seemed out of place.
Very nice work, possibly my favourite so far judging by the paint transition!
Konrad Adenauer. He was West German Chancelor at the time and used this model as his official vehicle. That is why this model was commonly referred to as the "Adenauer'.
WOW! love it guys. What a classic. ☺️👍
Un gran video, para un gran coche y elegante, Mercedes, gran trabajo de limpieza y restauración, impresionante.👏👍💪🇪🇦
This is a very rare Mercedes , and very expensive too . Good job.
The carpet is wool. While it has deteriorated, Woolite is a safe cleaner and does a really nice job. The best cleaner for the leather is good old fashioned saddle soap. Follow that with a neutral shoe balm and buff. The seats will thank you. Neat car.
I was always told to wash a car from the top down so that you’re not washing dirt down over bits you’ve just washed. I notice you guys don’t, and I’m wondering if there’s a reason for this.
Wow what a beautiful automobile Love watching the care you took while detailing it👍❤️
A great Mercedes, it looks very similar to the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud of the same era. Built like the proverbial tank, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a half-track option. Looking at the paintwork it has lasted way longer than most of the modern Mercedes would after that amount of time. Not technically a "Vintage" car but a great addition to any auto collection.
Such a beautiful car. Great job, guys.
🇧🇷 Simplesmente Espetacular!!
Yes! These were some of the last coach built Mercedes cars, incredible build quality.
Awesome car & well done cleaning job... Thank you❤ 🙏
Don Micheal Corleone popped up almost instantly when I saw this car. Good stuff! Thanks for the videos and hardwork for our amusement.
Fantastic job gentlemen. It amazes me that such old tyres hold pressure so well. These must be pre tubeless era tyres.
What a beautiful car. Nice work guys.
Absolutely beautiful car boys. What a privilege to work on such a magnificent piece of history
This car needs a full on restoration. What a beauty. This thing could win car shows everywhere I’ve seen this car in my life and I’m a Euro car nut.
Want!!!! I’m in love with this car! Learned to drive with a 1962 Mercedes but it was smaller than that one! Lol
Would love to see that fully restored
So nice that the comments are below the video again ! Great job guys !
Terrific job fellas brought it back to life
This car is beautiful. Great find guys.
Neat car! I know most of the cars you work on do not run, but it would be nice to see them in the sunlight after you are done. The overhead lights reflecting makes it hard to see the transformation. Great job as usual.
Great video. Thanks for all your efforts. I hope your business thrives.
Thanks for cleaning up such a nice car! Even started!😁 Any vid of driving it a little? CONGRATS!!!👍👍👍
Incredible! Well done, Boys!
Damn, that Mercedes looks gorgeous, so sleek and beautiful! And you guys did great job detailing it
When I was about 12 years old, the father from a friend did buy a car like this. We kids did like to sit inside the car fantesizing the moment we could ride this car. For us it was a dreamcar.
What a beautiful vehicle.
I love antiques history . Not technology .modern cars won't last this long.. great job you do....... love it.
Stunning Beautiful !!!!
Extreme Class.........
Absolutely beautiful car can't wait for next week ❤❤❤
I personally thank you for saving these antiques, not ordinary cars, from neglect and abandonment .🙏🌹
Superb car. Mercedes up to the 90s were THE purpose-engineered and best built cars in the world.
Also, extremely reliable. WHAT happened was the new model/feature chase, and others caught up.
Owned two: a 240 and 300 diesel Mercedes. Best car I ever owned.
I really enjoyed watching this! Fantastic detail on a really cool car
Needs a repaint maybe and new carpets, but I'll bet with new plugs and wires, oil changes, tyres and some valeting it'll be a great runner for many more decades.
Very satisfying detail! What a motor!
In 1968 my uncle bought one of the early versions into Australia. In those days Mercedes were much rarer on our roads and generally bought by doctors, lawyers, etc… I know he had a 220S at one stage as he only owned Mercs for about 15 years, but I’m not sure which one he had in 1968. I remember it had the vertical speedometer flanked horizontally by gauges similar to the ones in your 300. I was 7 at the time so the memory is hazy, but I did enjoy driving in its opulent luxury. Lloyd
I'm thinking a person of royalty. A monarch type for sure! Great job as always!
Standard West German govt official car. Called an Adenauer after Konrad Adenauer, the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany). The 300SL is based on this thing.
@@fotorabia Well, the *engine* (M189) is derived from that in the 300 SL (M186); no other great relationship in terms of chassis, body, suspension, or fittings.
An absolutely stunning car. It's often been said, but Mercedes just don't make cars like they used to. In Switzerland in the 1990's, I owned a 190E 2.3 and it was built like an absolute tank. I enjoyed closing the doors - so satisfyingly solid.
