    Great review. One mistake, you placed the 4L thin beams for shifting selector a stud too far apart. That's why your gearbox was not working properly.

    • @derdelyi
      @derdelyi Před 4 lety +3

      Hi @Zerobricks and @RacingBrick. Although I positioned the mentioned thin beams correctly, I experienced a similar issue with the shifting selector. It works properly in one direction, when the four armed yellow elements are rotated 'upwards', but it gets stucked constantly in the other direction, when the four armed yellow elements are rotated 'downwards' at that shifting point when the second yellow element should rotate one quarter at every fourth shifting. At that point I cannot shift further, both selectors remain at the same position. The other shifting direction still works properly.
      Do you have any idea what could be the problem?

    • @mertcetin
      @mertcetin Před 3 lety +2

      I finished the first booklet and before moving on to the second I wanted to test the gears. The first 4 gears switch very smoothly but the switch to the 5th gear does not work most of the time, especially when pulling the gear switchers slowly. The part that's supposed to push the green circles slides to the side due to low friction between the parts. When pushed very quickly it sometimes succeeds to switch gears. When I manually turn the yellow 4 armed parts, the gears switch very smoothly therefore I'm quite sure I built the gear switcher mechanism correctly.
      I'm now trying to make sense of this comment above by @Zerobricks, as the mentioned problem in the video is similar. Which 4L thin beams are we talking about here? Or do you have any other suggestions to mitigate my problem? Should I maybe finish the build to test this again as maybe when the missing parts come, they will stabilize the gearbox further?
      Thanks in advance for your help.

  • @vesanius1
    @vesanius1 Před 2 lety +3

    I just finished building my Sian and I absolutely loved every second of it. While it's true that there's a lot of mechanical parts which you cannot really play with, it's also nice to know that you have build it yourself and YOU know that there's the mechanical parts. My only complains are the inconsistent colors on some pieces and that one of my small connector pieces was actually broken. Thankfully I was able to take one of those pieces from the last box as they are also used for the windshield and I was able to finish the build. It will take like 1 minute to add it there once I have received it from LEGO. Next I'm gonna buy a light set for it to make it truly amazing.

    Lego should move away from the gearboxes... they take up a ton of room, often squashing the interior and distorting the steering column. They remove the possibility for several other potential features, or motorisation, but they don't add much at all other than knowing it's there. They also don't work like a real car gearbox, so they aren't really teaching people anything either.
    I'd much prefer they skipped the gearbox, and added lighting/ motorisation.

    I just got this set a few years late but the R9800 and D11 came before, I recently before Xmas picked up set 8865 as I was too young when it first appeared, 4 yrs ago I picked up the Chiron, dipping my toe back in the Technic pool after 24 yrs away, my last as a kid Technic set was in 94 with set 8880 and I do still get a more impressed feeling from 8880 than the Chiron or Sian, it’s the studded beam, open planes of golden age of Technic, you can see all the gears and differentials and shock absorbers and axles turning and spinning and compressing, these new cars are a marvel of engineering and a challenge to build, I find it funny that the full build of 8865 takes about 28 steps, the Sian is close to 1100 😂😂😂 The functions of 8880 keep me distracted every time I pick it up, bar opening doors or hood it trumps anything made today, I find on the Sian the axle areas and suspension arm areas are far to crowded and built up looking at 8865/8880, disappointed in the luggage bag for the Sian, is that the best you can do Lego? Also one thing that got me on every 2 nd page of the instruction which I think we could all appreciate is some instructive windows are printed far too close to the centre spine of the book, meaning for you to get a proper look and concentrate you have to apply a lot of force to crease down the centre, please Lego in future just space each page 1 or 2 cm’s from the centre spine

I think the car would lend itself so well to Lego technic designwise and they could pack it full of functions. All the normal stuff but maybe also adjustable ride height and a wing reactive to turning and brakes. I really want a Lego technic supercar, but just cant convince myself to get one if it's not a car I idolize, and I dont care for Porche, Bugatti or Lamborghini at all.

    I really like to watch lego technic build videos but I am not a fan of technic sets in real. Fingers hurts xD and disassembling or moding is a pain in the butt and that's what I like to do with me "classic" lego sets. Car looks spectacular, presence of printed pieces is highly appealing, just those blue pins are disturbing in overall look in such a HI-end exclusive set. Anyway really nice and detailed video.
