  • Harley Davidson evo headlight not working and high beam indicator stays on. The headlight connector is melted at the ground side, black wire.
I replaced it with a ceramic high temperature connector. Below is a link to one similar to what I used.

    I had the same issue.
I ordered the ceramic ends, took the headlight out… no melting observed.
    Tested wiring, good.
    Bad headlight. Hmmm…

Verify power is going to the bulb on high and low beam. Then verify good ground. Yes, your bulb could be no good.

Great video and thanks. You mentioned "it melted" but what was the cause? Was this because of keeping the bulb on high beam all the time?

VentiMocha1Rasp good question. I think it’s more of a ground issue, causing the ground side to get hot. I do keep my headlight on high all the time, during the day.
It’s a common issue. Next time, if I have an issue, I’ll probably run a ground wire straight to the battery.

My brand new….one day old…..1200is doing the same thing, but I haven’t looked at the connector. I took the fairing off and now it doesn’t work.

One day old, like a brand new bike and under warranty? If so, don’t touch it, let the dealer do it under warranty.
If not under warranty, test the power going in and out of the the connector. Confirm there’s a good ground too.

@@motofun72 brand new. They fixed it for free. They said it was something that held the wire in place to the connector connecting it to the wire harness. It was either not there upon assembly, or not put in properly and fell out of broke.
