- The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is more than two and a half decades old, so it goes without saying that many who're playing the recently released remake will be intimately familiar with every tiny little detail in the game.
That said, for those who's experiencing this classic for the first time, it can be a complex game, especially since there's so much it doesn't tell you. In this we've feature, we've compiled a few tips and tricks that you should keep in mind while you play Link's Awakening which are sure to make life in Koholint Island much easier for you. With all that out of the way, let's get started.

Oh dear! Mamu (the frog) gives you the song to resurrect the rooster and turtle. Manbo (the fish) actually gives you the song that allows you to fast travel to a warp point or dungeon entrance.
As others have mentioned, it’s Manbo’s song that helps you warp.
Anyways, I was actually able to afford the bow quite early on in the game by just cutting every grass I came across and by playing the trendy game. It’s actually far harder to get rupees in the gameboy version than it is the switch version. I didn’t get called a thief nor did the shop owner have to strike me with lightning. It’s just more efficient that way because you’re able to collect the stones and purchase whatever else it is that’s needed.
All of these are told to you in game.
And most aren’t even optional.
These aren’t thing that the game doesn’t tell you, these are critical to the game and have text boxes that clearly tell you what to do with each item or location.
And you got the warp song wrong.

Not really a tip or trick but If you go into the crane game with Marin when she’s with you, she’ll use it and grab the owner by the head and lift him up lol. I also recommend looking at people wardrobe and breaking people’s pot for some funny dialogue with Marin..also play Marins song when she’s with you and she basically tells you you suck.
You can also use the purple rupee in the crane game to farm rupees.
I never thought about using the hook shot in the rapids area. 😜

For anyone who gets into the third dungeon, called key cavern, there is a certain spot I’ve seen people online have trouble with. Specifically when you are unlocking the four blocks with keys to get to the staircase. One of the silver keys is in a room with two purple squares on the floor. EVERY SINGLE green slime in the room with the two torches must be killed to get the final silver key, which will drop onto the purple tile from the ceiling. And to add to this, sometimes enemies don’t appear from the ground until you are within frame of them. So make sure to ALWAYS WALK AROUND THE ENTIRE ROOM of all dungeons. Make sure to kill ALL enemies in the room, even if part of the room is separated by a wall and you have to go around to the other side of the room. And use bombs like they’re your best friend. Not all enemies are visible upon entering a room and not all breakable walls have cracks in them. You never know what you might miss.

i knew all of these, though it wasn't until recently that i found out about bomb arrows, but than i've been playing this game for 25 years or so as well

This game is so generous with rupees, there is no point to stealing
About the bottle in the fishing game, it's not there in the original iteration of the game.

Or you can make a extra game or extra profile and use 1 of those where you don’t have to pay so when you’re done with the game you can make a little easier game and do that and do that
I heard that the crazy bat you summon when lightning up the torch in the cave can upgrade not only that magic dust but if you denied the first option you can either choose to upgrade how many arrows or bombs you can carry
The ending still makes me sad

Btw, probably should’ve mentioned some of these features are slightly different from the original, such as having even more Seashells and Dolls - or even removed Photo Album feature.
Lastly, I wouldn’t have included the ‘thief’ bit in a ‘Beginner’ video. Besides, if you are going to steal, it’s better to take the Bow simply because the bow is required while the heart piece isn’t. Instead, you should’ve mentioned how you can now make notes on the map for future reference - a much more friendly thing to do than stealing. Lol
Another warning the vid shows you, but doesn't tell you currently is that the shopkeeper will kill you enter after shoplifting anything. Unless they only do it once in this remake.

i still got mine and it still works though i've had mine since X-mas (1991) only thing about it now is the cover came off and that's it though it still works just fine
I I could not finish the game because I missed all this stuff.
At 40 shells you get the sword I'm up to 49 cant find the last one
50 shells get you a chamber stone for Dampe's Shack that makes it a lot easier to farm rupees (i.e., you can get ~300 additional rupees every time you play a dungeon in Dampe's Shack).
on one of my games i have them all but i think 4.
u don’t have to do 3 dungeons to get to cilor
i want to correct you my good sir! i did the colour dungeon after 2:nd dungeon. a bit hard but possible. because if you know the path you dont need the boots to get the info =)
Fiddesh That my good sir is bullshit. If you push the pattern of gravestones prior to completing the third dungeon the last grave stone will say something along the lines of “only the brave of heart may attempt this challenge” and refuses to let you into the dungeon.
@@quinnsinclair7028 You don't need to read the book in the library to get into the Color Dungeon. If you know the pattern, you can get in after the second dungeon.
K K Of course I know that. The library book is nothing but information. However even knowing the sequence you can’t enter till you complete the third dungeon. I got to dungeon four before an accident wiped my save file. On the replay now knowing the code I repeatedly went back to the graveyard and attempted to gain entry. It would not let me in till I cleared Dungeon 3.
@@quinnsinclair7028 Then you got the pattern wrong. You absolutely can get in after the second dungeon. I went after the blue mail as early as possible.
K K No if you get the pattern wrong there’s just nothing there. If you put the pattern properly before you are supposed to it will tell you to leave until you have more power.

This was useless and disgusting. I’ve played the game for only two hours and I have figured all of this and more out. I’ve only played the original twice and this is a perfect example of people using past information to power them forward. Stop lying, stop playing the same screens over and over, and please play the game if you are getting paid for it. I’m paid at my job to save people’s lives. Imagine if I quarter assed it one day... this sort of content should be criminal.
#FREEMULTIPLAYER xbl and psn multiplayer should be free. We already paid for the game full price, and you lock out half of it behind a petty paywall. WAKE UP PEOPLE
But it's worth it. Look at Xbox. We get live games 3 games a month and game pass games 3 games a month. Things like dmc5 and jump force or even bloidstained ritual of the night or enter the gungeon. Only game I purchased was GTA 5. Dr get to all halo all gear s all fable free

The games arent even yours. You can only play those games when you keep on subscribing 60 a year. You pay anothwr sixty just to play half or even sometimes full of your 60 dollar game locked out from you. They want to own you. Look at lootboxes, mt's, their attempts to go digital. Game got boring, after 2nd dungeon, after countless time wasted running around the map trying to figure out what I'm suppose to do and how to do things, hopefully this will help me somewhat.
Are you serious? This is a kid's game. Anyone over 7 yrs old should easily be able to finish it
@@Ridku13 Lol yeah I'm serious, I'm just hacking and slashing and running around the map, and got bored doing it. For a first timer its not a game for me. It takes me running around the whole map to find clues just to do one thing, and then I have to run around the whole map again to figure out the next thing. It aint for me.

There are guides and walkthroughs out there to help if you’re stuck. The dungeons get pretty confusing after a while and there are different ways to defeat the nightmare bosses. Also different stuff to collect along with the mini games.
The story isn’t as linear or as in depth as other backstories as an rpg would be, but you’ll grow attached by the time it ends.
