Bautista is actually a great actor. Usually wrestlers can act a certain way, but he's very versatile and has great comedic timing. Really well filmed scene in the movie.
@@Promethazin3 Cena is good as Peacemaker. I know he's done a few other films before that but it wasn't anything great, but then again he was handed terrible scripts before. So I can't blame him. When they handed him a great script for Peacemaker, he nailed it. So I could be wrong about Cena. The Rock had great acting chops when he did more grounded films like Gridiron Gang and Walking Tall and The Rundown. He sold me as an authoritative badass. Too bad he's kind of a self parody now.
I really like this scene. For me it shows that characters that seem simple on the outside can sometimes be the most complex on the inside. The fact that these two characters react so differently to the same emotion shows how he's had to endure it for so long that he's no longer able to show it. It's why Drax is my favorite character in Gotg overall.
Me too, Drax The Destroyer is my favorite Guardian since the first movie, watching this scene is so heartwarming, sad and beautiful. Dave Batista is amazing, he shows you side we haven't seen in him before
I feel like he was sold short in vol. 2 as well as Infinity War in that regard. This moment was nice, but it was very clear in the first movie that he's a very tragic character whose manchild nature just happens to make him funny. He was always comedic, but I felt like starting in vol. 2, he started to just be 'comic relief'. Which doesn't do him justice at all. And the look on his face while Mantis was crying was really sad. As if he was at piece with his loss and tragedy. As if he's given up ever feeling better.
Drax's memories are both painful and sweet. He mourns the loss of his daughter, but remembers her with the sweet tenderness of a loving father. Touching him, Mantis is first overwhelmed with the sense of loss, but then experiences the sweetness of Drax's memories of his daughter. She experiences the true meaning of 'bittersweet'.
Moments like these are why the guardians movies will forever be the best thing the MCU has produced. It’s a story about CHARACTERS, not cameos or setting up group movies.
I love how it shows that he is a brute a warrior who seems to be emotionless and only laughs and has fun when he is either mocking his friends or doing something violent when in truth he feels so much loss that he can’t even describe it you can only feel it and the fact that it hurt Mantis SO much shows just how deep Draxs emotions can be........
Mantis has never felt a father's love before this moment. The grief at losing their children. It's when she feels this, and compares it to Ego, that she truly understands right and wrong and how aweful Ego truly is.
dude got his revenge and then found himself again much better than dying just bc its the last film some cynics just want meaningless death bc its a finale but the way i saw it they needed a family to grow up/heal and now they dont need a family anymore theyve grown up i was 10 when i first saw the original and it was the first mcu film i ever saw and it felt like the third film said to me you dont need your guardians anymore youve grown up so that really taught me a lesson so i know its my time to quit the MCU much like endgame lovers xd TLDR:film good me sad
which why I REALLY hope we get to see them not just crack jokes but also have a little more "serious" moment together (if anyone of the Guardians can relate to Thor having so many of his close friends and family being murdered it's Drax)
Similar to Robin Williams. One of the greatest comedians of all time had the unbearable weight of depression burdening him every step of his life. But he never let it show. He made other people laugh.
Drax may be a goofball, but here we see that he carries such a great and deep pain. And it's sad to find out that he never shows any of it. Even when he looks content or melancholic, we only know how he truly feels through Mantis. He's probably cried so much that he no longer has any tears to give.
I think I can understand why Drax at first insisted to be with Mantis in the ending of vol. 3. Then he realized he had to let her go in the end and it hurt to say goodbye. Its like he lost his "daughter" (arguably a sister) again.
I felt like this scene in general tought me something... No matter how happy or strong you're on the outside but on the inside there is something or someone that completely brings us down...
Drax was my favourite thing in the telltale series, he had the best arc apart from rocket, maybe I just chose the wrong stuff but drax had an amazing backstory that I never heard of in the movies

Loud and proud on the outside, but on the inside, he mourns.
Thanos...
I wonder how the other guardians would alphabet felt about Drax’s sadness

Guys like Cena or Orton can't hold a jock to Bautista's acting chops.
The Rock ain't bad but now he's self parody.

God this scene is powerful, the tears drop instantly from Mantis' eyes, and Drax stares off..
I love how much depth this gives Drax. He feels incredible sadness and yet doesn’t express anything.
I love how on the inside Drax is a tempest of emotions that are so powerful that they instantly overwhelm Mantis.
Women think men are emotionless

When the funny kid of the class actually told you about how he feels
Relatable
This comment gave me chills.....
Moments like this are what make the Guardian films the best in the MCU.
Drax's greatest strength is on the inside.

Dave Bautista just showed what great acting is without saying a word, only in his face alone; incredible.

Drax and Thor are kindred spirits: Gung-ho on the outside, continually, mourning on the inside.
True wow I never thought of that but wow that is so accurate

The funniest character ever has the greatest sadness. 🍺 Raising a cold one for my boy, Drax!😭

That deep breath at the end, I feel for you Drax 😔
I think most of us in a way are like Drax.. He carries a pain that only he knows about.
legitimate advice: generally speaking it helps to share your pain and worries with family members or friends you are very close with.
I think I can understand why Drax at first insisted to be with Mantis in the ending of vol. 3.
Then he realized he had to let her go in the end and it hurt to say goodbye. Its like he lost his "daughter" (arguably a sister) again.
This is quite possibly my favorite scene in the MCU. As a father, I understand this completely. It breaks me every single time.
Powerful scene. I get chills when mantis touches drax shoulder and the piano starts. Emotion overload...my heart feels heavier
He has sadness, but he is the only one of you who doesn’t hate himself. 😢
It makes me sad that Batista no longer wants to resume this role, it’s perfect for him just like Riddick was for Vin Diesel

Drax literally deserves the world fite me
“She was like you.”
‘Disgusting?!’ 🤣
Man all the GOTG movies can make you cry. ❤❤❤❤ thank you James Gunn.
I like Drax
I love that you don’t even need any words from mantis to know exactly what’s happening the moment she touches him.
This is pure cinema.
He’d get along with Kratos
Like so many men in the world today...

You think Drax was joking when he gagged while thinking of being with her physically?
his daughter is alive and she will appear in gotg 3

Yeah, she walked into an emotional mine there.
