I just watched her live performance of this in Birmingham England in '22 and she still knocks it out of the park at 77 years old. She's touched by some magic her whole life!
LGF đ
To put that in perspective, she is only three years younger than Joe Biden, whose rendition is considerably lower energy.
mk ultra programming is what
Wow! You're unique you live in ingland! God Damn, Blondie should move there also it will make you very unique!
â€đđ
Clem's drumming is top notch as always.
BEFORE Fame.. she was 32 at the time of this song....no spring chicken for a starting rock n roller. Shes 76 now and still a doll
REALLY?
She was wasn't a starting rock and roller. Blondie was her fourth band at least. She was in a folk group in the late 1960s then the punk group The Stilletoes, then Angel and the Snake with Chris Stein, then she and Chris formed Blondie
She was famous since CBGBs. Everyone knew she was special since teenage years.
@@pixelgoat_ She was actually 30 yrs old when she play CBGB's in '75, although she looked like a teen. She got a late start with Blondie and will be age 78 July 1st.
@@AlizeeDefan yeah ur right, I think she was hanging or even dating iggy pop thenâŠ
Blondie was the greatest group of the 70s
No
One of the greatest, that's for sure
Oh, how I love this! Was so happy when she became a star, I'd always known it would happen. Love her!!
No one or no band can copy her she's one of a kind
They are all one of a kind. Clemens Burke (aka Elvis Ramon) is one of the greatest 5 drummers of all time.
The likes of Heart of Glass, and Rapture don't thrill me very much, but the earlier new wave 'garage band' - type recordings like X Offender are sublime.
Clem Burke, the drummer, knocks it out of the park!!
He is awesome, as was his work with Eurythmics on the Revenge LP.
he always does
He only lasted a day as Ramones' drummer. Can't handle triple time on the high-hat.
He has been the best drummer in Rock and Roll for almost 50 years
He usually does.. T birds is a fave, Dreaming too
After all the Blondie songs ....x offender is still one of their very best ..love the girl band influence ..Debbie's just amazing. Thank you Gary valentine .
Have you read his book - New York Rocker - it's absolutely superb! IMHO of course
@@PrivateWalker I have Matthew ,great read I once comented on how talented he is and he replied to me saying he was touched ( by my presence dear ?)
@@nickmorrell3559 so right â€

There are no words to describe my love of this band
The most beautiful and fun rock chic of all times ... Nobody does it better!
Beautifully said: the female icons of pop that followed her have none of the sweet sophistication she and the band bestowed upon us.
Debbie the perfect looking female.I was so crazy about her the first time I saw her,so fanciable.
@@johndean4765 HELLO, FOLKS, SHE'S ALSO A VERY TALENTED SINGER.
There is the irrelevant matter of the incredible voice that she has. Her fine octaval range. A song like Sunday Girl is very difficult to sing, but she manages it.
I have always been in awe of Debbie harry and always wanted to be like her. She was blessed with absolute fantastic looks a face that could stand out amongst thousands of people.
A pin up of all time!
Edible.đ€
I saw Debbie in 1990 and had a chat with her ,though she was in her 40s she made the pretty teenage fans around her look plain.
She was an absolute stunner and so friendly and charming.
Lots of plastic surgery. She was naturally beautiful and doesn't need to do this. Her face is stretched too tight. None of the men, however, have felt the need to do that.
You know, she's had massive cosmetic surgery. She didn't always look like that. She's a creation. I'm only pointing that out to say, she has an AMAZING VOICE. But she understood, correctly, that people would always be out her looks. That's how it was for women in the 70s and 80s. BUT DAMN, SHE COULD ALWAYS SING.
This song is full of life and I don't want to stop listen to, play it again and again. Blondie forever.
I love the organ riff on this song! Jimmy Destri baby!
The start of something magnificent.
It's sad that the bands songs have low views. These songs are worthy of 100s of millions
sorry china and the Arabs dont buy ,,,,
Dreaming...Heart of Glass... Call Me.... Rapture. Letâs face it. After those four songs their repertoire gets pretty light. There are some decent songs here and there but theyâre not The Beatles.
@@kingofallwhites Incorrect. They have an entire catalog of songs better than each song that you just mentioned (although Dreaming is an amazing song that doesn't get nearly as much love as it deserves from the mainstream audience imo).
@@kingofallwhites- One Way or Another?!?! Dreaming? The tide is high? Atomic? Sure, they're not the Beatles but they have a name for themselves
Let'em be they don't understand. Same people who say "punks dead" if you listen to top 40 radio or the crap that was (and guess still is apparently) Mtv....then one will miss out. Blondie had many many hits. Radio played and underground too.
debbie is 73 years young this year, shes still glowing x
77 now.
@@michaelmckenna7109 79 now.
One of my fav' Blondie songs.
Steely Eyed Rock n Roll Girl You Are.....
Gary Valentine is still the epitome of New Wave New York c 1976. Shame he didn't hang around a little longer with Blondie.
That surf rock Dick Dale mid riff is great! No one was doing this in the mid 70s!
That's largely it!
Dick Dale was.
I'd say this is punk. Sounds kinda like 90s punk Screeching weasel.
you actually read my mind. I feel like this song was the start of the late 70s
@@MyDrugHell True but by 76 he was probably mostly playing his old hits, not creating new songs. Hope Im wrong.
wonderful drumming by clem Burke
if there is a better drummer than clem i have yet to see him
alan bullman Elvis Motherfucking Ramone.
When I was a kid listening to Blondie I knew the drummer was amazing, now I'm over 50 I still think he's amazing. There's other brilliant drummers like Jimmy Chamberline but Clem Burke is a whole different thing.. Totally unique
Clemant is clearly on another level !
@@leedsboy64 Rat Scabies.
2:04s? That stage walk? She was sooooo cute, So, so, soooooooo cute! She did not even have to face a camera to be so!
I LOVE BLONDIE
They paved a whole new genre of music...they broke new ground. True musicians.
Human beings CAN be wonderful.
yup
This is really the very first NEW WAVE song in music history and it sounds like the song was recorded in a time when New Wave already existed for like five years.
Valentine's backwards jump at 2:46 and his dancing along with Debbie is EPIC!
That song has so much energy! Blows me away. Like 3 cups of coffee.
this song is EVERYTHING
paedophile anthem
And a can of Pringles!
Love how surfy it sounds. That guitar....Iâm in love
This was the first Blondie song I ever heard --- how could they fail to be huge.
She would make a fantastic topic for a movie about her life .
Imagine the queue of wannabe men to play her suitors!!! It would be long enough to stifle the production. I'm applying!
Best Blondie song by a mile...
That drummer badass !!
Clem is the best ..
Check out Accidents Never Happen or particularly Living in the real World if you want to see him at his best!
Aus80sRockRadio so true
Best musician in the band. The drumming in Dreaming is excellent, but Clem's drumming was excellent in most of their songs.
Gary Valentine's energy is so good here, shame he left Blondie
I love Debbie's dancing in this vid.
Hugh Mongus I just love Debbie!!!
Haha any live performance she just never could dance... but then who cares
@@MrTripletts - I think I know what you mean, but it also depends on what who you're comparing her too, right? You've got stay within the genre, otherwise you're comparing apples and oranges.
Hugh Mongus True Hugh...i mean she DID have rhythm and timing. As a vocalist she was flawless on where to come in with the vocals. Some of those punk dances were a little revolutionary too so in the punk world her dancing may have been spot on
@@MrTripletts She readily admitted she couldn't dance, but along with some of her wilder outfits, as you said, who cares.
Wow, just look what Clem is doing all the time. Coolness level 100%.
The G.O.A.T. of female rock / pop/ punk stars .
I love this Song...with an original text and fresh sound.I love Debbie
Amazing drummer!
+ghilarda Clem Burke - legend.
ghilarda He also filled in with the Ramones from time to time.
He did good drumming on the song 'dreaming'
One of the greats. For me, the holy trinity of punk/new wave drummers is Clem Burke, Rat Scabies, and Stewart Copeland.
Love how Debbie Harry frequently sings from a guyâs perspective (so many of Blondieâs songs were co-written by the guys). I believe the juxtaposition of that & Debbieâs angelic, otherworldly appeal makes Blondie.
She wrote the lyrics to this one. Gary Valentine laid out the melody and gave it to her saying it was about him getting busted at 19 with his 16 year old girlfriend. So sex offender. Debbie told him she'd come up with lyrics and changed it to be about a prostitute who falls for the cop shes arrested by. So she subverts the norm by making the woman in the song the "offender".
my favourite track on their debut album -- "in the flesh" comes a very close second
This is so old, but still sounds fresh.
I agree, the first Blondie album was hardly played on the radio so it still sounds fresh today. I always felt this album must have inspired the B-52s (who are also awesome).
Sometimes what you see IS what you get- Chris Stein and Gary Valentine actually did swap instruments for Blondie's very first single; Stein played bass and Valentine (who co-wrote the tune with Deborah Harry) played guitar, both on the recording.
The entire "Blondie" album is great!đ
Yes!!! Great album. Look good in blue, x offender, little girl lies, in the sun, kung-fu girls etc. All brilliant songs!
@@MrMassivefavour Plastic Letters is another one that gets no love.
@kennethoats2322 Yes! It's as Punk as they got, a punchy album, but there were some good songs. Detroit 442, Didn't have the nerve, no imagination etc. I don't quite know how they justified Touched by your presence amongst an album of pretty hard hitting songs. That wouldve been better on Parallel lines.
The best, ultimate new wave band!
+IdleElectric They set the tone for 80s new wave with their sound and looks more than any 70s band! Duran Duran opened for Blondie in the early 80s and were huge fans of Debbie Harry and her style and they came to dominate 80s new wave pop culture taking the torch from Blondie and Debbie.
Some Cars fans may disagree!
Bob Davis like myself! I love Blondie, but no one can top The Cars imo!
Yes, I like all stages of Blondie's career (and bought this first album when it was still sold on the Private Stock label) but overall I like The Cars better, all career stages. :-) Same applies to all solo efforts made by whatever members of each band, including The Wind In the Willows, Milkwood etc.
Bob Davis
Bob... no one cares.
I LOVE this song! It's been on my playlist with "Denis" and "Rip Her To Shreds" like forever. It just always makes me feel happy. I remember hearing it in Hollywood clubs when Blondie first came out and seeing them on a big billboard sign outside the Whisky on Sunset Blvd. What a great band!
The opening track from their first, self titled album. Brilliant!
Happy 40th birthday X Offender
xoffender74 Hey I'm still only 35.
this has always been my absolute favourite blondie song â€ïž love playing this on my keyboard
Your beauty overwhelms me
As I wrap my arms around you
I press your softness tight
Great passion fills my inner being
I'm captured in your embrace
Your eyes control my very soul
The touch of your lips, heaven
Forever frozen in time
All else fades into nothing
Dude, you do realize that Gary Valentine WROTE THIS SONG! I think if you write the song you can do what you want.
Gary had the concept for this song because of a situation he was in with a young gal, but all the lines were written by Deborah.
He wrote the music, Debbie wrote the lyrics.
those were the days...
saw them live Arnhem NL 1977
This is one of my favorite Blondie's song!
on the record debbie says in the intro: i saw u standing on the corner, you looked so big and fine, I really wanted to go out with you, so i put my heart on the line...
THE ORIGINAL AND BEST LINE-UP
I listened it when I was a child, now I remember their music and I love Blondie đ
Nothing can be cooler than this.
best band ever
The original and greatest hipster chick of rock and roll!
One of my favorite songs! Great, especially when i hear it, driving my car on the highway...
My favorite song of Blondie!! I really love the 1:35 part!! Saludos desde Chile :)
moi aussi , meme si tout est faux cela n'enleve pas le charme des personnes .. j'aime bcp
Keep singing your heart out banging on the drums strumming the strings dancing all around town!
so many great songs from this group amazing
STUNNING TALLENT GIRL GREAT SONGS GROUP 77 SHES GOING WOW
Blondie does everything fantastic all this song seem to be really good
Classic.. boys and girls of 2019 this is music
perfect song
Fantastic garage rock đ
That was her greatest ability as a singer, that, and the ability to sound oh so very innocent on the surface. LOL I love her so much!
Hair stylist: where do you want your bangs?
Debbie: Yes
Very good voice and that's it. She is also very good looking.
This is art.
lol Gary Valentines one (and only) dance move.
an underrated song.
some images are iconic in the mind when you're growing up and sort of shape you a bit, this is one of those clips for me. Still gives me tingles and not sure why (except for the obvious Debbie).
I love her hair it's so pretty đ«đ
One of my favorites I love Blondie
This was the best version of Blondie.
no doubt the best up front female to come from anywhere. love the band, the music and her style. she can't not be beautiful, sexy and so easy to listen to.
There are a Radeen and Gaiking in this video. Great!
Icónica banda que trasciende décadas. Toda la vida Blondie. Saludos cordiales
a truly great band, at least before they discovered reggae.
+emma duncan Preach it, sister Emma!
+emma duncan They also discovered disco, rap, funk, country, orchestral, jazz, etc. That's what great about them!
IÂŽm with you on that, Emmy, and what about Nigel when he took over...did he think: now when the other dude aka Gary jumped up and down, i have to do it to?! :P
I want them both on stage, and next to each other - jump around, jump jump jump!
(sorry for my awful english, and also for my equally awful humour:)
So brilliant!
That was her greatest strength as a singer.
God! I remember jumping up and down like that for hours at a time at the clubs.
We all love Blondie. Thank you much.
Favorite blondie song!
Short and so sweet!đ„°
I love Blondie/Debbie Harry since I was 14.
You're not the only one, you have an appreciation of a connoisseur.
Fantastic footage..... completely off her face and still gorgeous x
Just wonderful, soo many high school memories.
You know you're good when you have Shogun warrior toys in your performances
Bass player: "I don't have anything to do right now, here's Voltron".
Chris Stein is very random. In the "Union City Blue" video, for example, he waves a plant at the camera. Not coincidentally, he has the best Twitter account of any Blondie member and fits in on the internet better than many people half his age.
@@spinningchrysalis4061 The bass player is Gary Valentine, the author of the song.
@@noimpostura in this video? Chris Stein is playing bass.
@@brianquinn3961 You are right. Gary Valentine plays bass guitar.
That's Mazinger-Z, not Voltron.
Song was supposed to be SEX Offender. Record label released it as X Offender.
Originally written by Valentine about an 18 year old having sex with his 17 year old girlfriend. Debbie rewrote it to be about a prostitute who loves a cop. Still poetically intriguing, but doesn't fit the title as well in my mind.
@@nicolaswalli4722 Valentine is not on the video right?
Gabriel Mansilla Yes he is. He is on guitar.

Gabriel Mansilla Chris Stein had to switch to bass for it and was all pissed off about it.
