Let me explain Dutch soccer.
NL has 18 million citizens on a stamp. About 1 million ppl play soccer in a competition. Its by far our biggest sport. My hometown has 30,000 citizens and has 2 soccer clubs (in the past even 3). Amateur Competitions are set up in areas and classes. Age are about 7 years old up to 60+. LOL, I played in the 8th senior team, with friends, because we like the game.
There is a saturday and a sunday competition. So every weekend (saturday/sunday) that 1 million go to play the in that competition. (age from 7-60+ years).
Our professionals are in 2 leagues. And beside the field soccer there is an inside soccer aswell (even in competition, but not as big as in field soccer).
In my youth we played soccer at school squares. Before, during the break and after school. We made with 2 coats or stones a goal. Doing tricks had a fight, had fun, all of it.
Nowadays kids have their own playgrounds with fences and small goals.
While Dutch Clubteams were more succesfull with many European Cups and world Clubteam Cups the national team was more or less unlucky. For many cups we were the best team, most spectacular team and bla bla bla but those are our achievements National team - 1974-1978-2010 Runner up (several 3rd -4th) - Our best is European Champ in 1988
Dont forget: even when we play bad, we still want to attack, not affraid for any team, and all country teams know we can beat them. Brazil, Germany, Spain and France know that very well.
Last time we were beaten by Argentina after penalties. But stroke down Brazil.

The result was obvious, the United States was not going to go far, because it still has a long way to go to reach the level of the other teams, CONCACAF is a weak league, like the African and Asian leagues, unlike CONMEBOL and the European League. that if they have experience playing in world championships and that is why they are always constantly improving

From the first until the last wistle blow USA must put pressure on the Netherlands, don't let them possess the ball and dictate the game. Often Dutch opponents go on the defence hoping for a counter. 👈🏻NOT GOOD when you don't have the players for such a gameplan.
I'm Dutch and I was a footballer/football fan myself until politics shoved its ugly nose into it, for all I care both teams get send home.
They did have the ball for most of the time. Didn't work in the end though.
