This song consists of parts of the Israeli and Palestinian national anthems in English. It's talking about competing nationalisms in the same geographic area, and especially disagreements over Jerusalem. Whereas Israel wants to control the entirety of Jerusalem, the Palestinians would like sovereignty over East Jerusalem, and the United Nations agrees with them, but Israel, who stole the area in 1967, won't relinquish it and regularly seizes Palestinian homes, kicks the residents out and either demolishes the building or gives it to someone else.
@@harrymon0 I just want to say that your perception of the conflict is very one-sided. I understand that it's a lost cause hoping for any objectivity on this topic, but thought you should know.
They take everything so objectively, yet the music is very subjective for listeners. As Laibach said: "The most logical way of communication between Laibach and the listeners are misunderstanding." IMHO they give an objective look on things we should have opinions of. When they do that, people's opinions strenghten/get weaker/change etc. because the music is so objective that you can only reflect your opinions and point of views to understand the meaning of their music (for you). Of course they have opinions and point of views, but I think they're newer neither embraced nor slur any subject they make songs of. For somebody being neutral and being objective is the same, but not for me. It's for broadening your point of views, not knowing what the band means by their songs. Nobody else has done that with music. That's why they will never be mainstream and that's also why they're something unique and amazing.
I don't think anyone truly "gets" Laibach. Only they know what their politics truly are and they've probably morphed over the years to some degree. Though I'm certain of one thing, there's no way it's all satirical.
@@guysmiley7289 "Their fascist stuff is satire. They're Slavic." While those two statements may be true, I hope you're not suggesting that because of one fact ("they're Slavic") that therefore they cannot be fascist. Obviously there are (and have been) fascist Slavs.

*Comment by Thomasormous C: "the juice constantly expanding their borders as they tear down ours."* *Yes, orange juice constantly expanding its territory over apple juice. But we will fight for the fruits of victory!*
For those who don't get it, first part is paraphrased Israeli national anthem, second part is paraphrased Palestinian national anthem.
what did the palestinians conquer with the roar of guns?
brilliant
Thanks! That gave me a new perspective on the song. Amazing
@@616lordofdarkness, what did the Israelis conquer? AFAIK, they have no other claim than: "God said so."
Yeah well of course l knew that. You Tube comments is renowned as being the home exclusively for the intellectual creme de la creme. Duh.
This is probably my favorite song from this album.
😈
❤
Such a sad thing of recent happenings in contrast to this song. A huge loss.
I would argue that this song is sad.
“It's basically impossible to misunderstand Laibach because every understanding is equally important.”
...the opposite also being quite useful and instrumental. It never failed in 40 yrs +
This is gold, why so few views & likes?? Share, people, share this marvel!

Every Laibach song should come with a .pdf explanation!
Why
The medium is the message, your response is the meaning.
It would kill the style. This music is made to think about. Those guys are also very smart, no song is super biased to one mindset ... its up to you!

Best explanation of Laibach music I have ever heard and so true. Thanks for understanding and explaining.
First and foremost they have anyways been anti imperialist. This song is the same
Brillant. Rien à redire. Hat's off man...

The concert was awesome. Thank you.
Tnks Laibach... I like so much this song

Brilliant track... As an Irishman. I wish Liabach would rewrite or compose the Irish National Amthem. 🇮🇪🙏
Oui.
Je rêve d'un concert de LAIBACH a Belfast avec THE POGUES and STIFF LITTLE FINGERS in guest.
......et a DUBLIN aussi !
They did so with empire’s anthems only. Not sure that I would wish for Ireland a destiny like this.
Judging from the comments people still don't get Laibach. It's what, 2017?

Of course! I still get nil-nada. The only thing I get (perhaps) is that they are neither nazis nor communists. Like me!

This song is so much better once you actually listen to "Hatikvah" and "Fida'i".
Fidai is an Iraqi song and is about war.
Hatikvah is about hope and was written by Jews.

Song seems to imply a rather ambiguous and subjective concept of homeland and war. Through art, politics become nebulous. Maybe you didn't get it.
