Crazy - but Microsoft's Backwards Comp is what has finally convinced me to buy an Xbox One X! I only have PS4 and I am pissed Sony won't do the same.
Matthew who? Sony has the same thing call PS Now, which is bull shit that you have to rent their old games online for a high price. Sony just won’t give things out for free. (Look at how they even cut off Ps2 emulator on PS3)
I think this happened for the same reason Sony isn't interested in crossplay and MS is. When you're the market leader in units sold, it's easy to get complacent, whereas the #2 guy tries harder to catch up.
Plus it gives the Xbox some exclusive classic titles for the online store that they can sell, offer as Gold rewards, etc.
I have a custom fw Ps4 that play everything ps1,2,3 psp xbox classic xbox ,and all emulators in the new firmware update will play up the disc xbox one as well
With the inconvenience that I can't play online I never pay for that anyway

If sony did what xbox did and offered the compatibility like them, it's a GG. Sony would be the go to console
I/my Firm work with Majesco. They still exist, the Sutton family still runs the company too. They have been in the medical industry for quite a while now. They have ceased making new games, however, they have retained the rights to games such as: Advent Rising, BloodRayne 1/2, A Boy and His Blob, and BloodRayne: Betrayal. Also, Double Fine purchased the rights to Psychonauts back from Majesco. Similar to how they re-acquired Grim Fandango. Last but not least, THQNordic was originally Nordic Games, they purchased many of the assets from the THQ bankruptcy including the logo/trademark. They re-branded their company for more recognition in the USA. They have all the Red Faction rights too among others.

Burnout 3 is a mustttt
All 5 of the main Burnout games on Xbox is a must, even Revenge for 360 and Paradise. I mean EA does nothing with Burnout now, and with their current business practices a new game would end up sucking

I love how even if you have an old scratched up disk that wouldn't play on the 360, it will work just fine on the xbox one.
As long as it works well enough to detect what the disc is, yeah.
I only have 4 out of the 13 o it was super cool. First one I did was Star Wars. Lol I all ready put 7 hours last night. The graphics actually do look a bit nicer too. I actually plugged my OG via component and it for sure looks a bit nicer. Awesome video Adam it’s always great for you to share the knowledge with all of us.

For myself I was impressed by Ninja Gaiden Black how well it looked. I would obviously go back and replay Shenmue II. But I do want to go back and play conker and splinter cell. I'm really impressed with how Microsoft did this. The way this cleans up the image makes it to where I will actually go back and replay the games. I found it difficult to go back play these games at 480p on the 360.

I'm sure a good chunk of those won't happen but these would be a great selection for me

theres always gotta be that one asshat that has to tell lies about xbox one having no games my xbox one library currently has 230 games and 30 of those are exclusives to that console compared to the 10 exclusives i own on ps4 out of 81 games i have for it (gt sport, uncharted collection, uncharted 4, the last of us, until dawn, drive club, little big planet 3) everything else on ps4 exclusive wise is meh.

Andreas F Backwards compatibility on the 360 played that game shitty because how it lagged on 99th street. Hopefully they'll fix it if it comes to backwards compatibility on the one.
Andreas F as long as jet set radio future, kung fu chaos, fusion frenzy, halo 1, and blinx time sweeper 1 & 2. Are compatible then I'm all in.
I'm lovin' it so far! I actually couldn't put Ninja Gaiden down, i managed to get to chapter 6 so far, it's so great to play it as back on the day my save file got corrupted. This time everything's gone smooth, game has aged incredibly well and I can't wait to finish it. I'm looking forward to trying titles like KOTOR and Black that I missed out on in those days, and I hope we have more exciting titles to look forward to (specifically, titles from capcom and sega) thanks for the great vid Adam!

Ninja Gaiden Sigma on PS3 is soo much nicer than the xbox ver. but it was serviceable for me back in the day
I've heard that the fanbase liked NG Black version the most, same with director Itagaki (though he may be biased/crazy). I only owned the vanilla version, i'm actually playing this via xbox game passs since it was added on there. Apparently sigma was on the vita too, I'd hate to use those controls in a game like this haha rip buttons. Thanks for mentioning, if I like NGB enough when finishing it, I might get sigma to check out the new stuff.

i have pretty much each release of shenmue 1 and 2 but it would be nice to upscale the OG Xbox version to 4K
@@devin9410 isn't only shenmue on dreamcast and shenmue 2 is on xbox. I think dreamcast was discontinued already when 2 came out.

MarvelGeek117 Hulk Ultimate Destruction was one of the first games I ever fully completed 100% as a kid. I felt so much pride in having beat the game, not to mention how fun the free roaming was. Great memories!

I am so happy with this system update. This has been my number one request for the system.
I really wish they would have included more games, but it is still awesome they did what they did. I usually play my OG Xbox games on my 360.

Phantom Dust would have been a great addition to this list had it not already gotten a full on remaster. Also, if Xbox Live is eventually enabled for OG Xbox games, then they might as well make Conker: Live & Reloaded backwards compatible. The original N64 version is better and available in Rare Replay but the Xbox remake has an awesome multiplayer.
XBL support for the OG Xbox games probably won't happen. Chances are pretty good they were programmed/designed in a very different way than they are now, and would ultimately not be worth the effort.
That being said, if Microsoft did create a full-on OG Xbox emulator, such an addition would probably be less grueling to revive, but you can't expect the board of directors to see that well when they constantly have dollar signs for eyes. There would also likely be an expectation for the titles with lesser-known DLC to make a revival, such as Ninja Gaiden 2004's Hurricane Packs, rather than only bring back things like Crimson Skies' and Battlefront's extra content.
Still, it'd be cool, and ultimately beneficial for all parties involved, if Microsoft was to pursue developing a full-on OG Xbox emulator with OG XBL support and functionality. It'd breathe new life into classic games by providing ample opportunities to create new DLC many years after the original games supporting it were released. If RWS still updates Postal 2 with additional DLC/Expansion packs to this day, 14 years later, I don't see why other companies shouldn't.
Orta, Star Wars games and Conker remake are now coming this month.
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind played it alot on OG Xbox wouldn't mind playing it again on Xbox One

It's backwards compatible on the 360 if you have one.

So cool of Microsoft to do this, and for free. Battlefront 2 is probably my biggest want for this program. And Elder Scrolls Morrowind. I'll probably go get 1 or 2 of these and try them out - just bought Dead to Rights on ebay for $5 after hearing this went live. Haven't played a 3rd person shooter in a while.

also Finest Hour had the better missions in my opinion, I was more a fan of the russian campaigns and british campaigns rather than the typical american campaign and that last level on that big ass bridge was great

Oh fuck, I can't believe I didn't think of that. Yeah, Rockstar will probably play ball. Include them as GTA6 Xbox One bonuses or something.
Don't know how that will work with all the music licenses and stuff. GTA3 might be a go considering a large portion of it's music was made just for that game, but Vice City and San Andreas is a much trickier situation.
San Andreas has a backwards compatible version on the 360 i own it since i still have the disc so it should not be too much of a stretch to negotiate that for the x
Licensing deals weren't necessary for the 360 because they were uses the software of the disc itself. That's not the case with how this works.

I should have mentioned this, but I'm seriously glad it wasn't on the list. We already have multiple ways to play that on an XBox One. Devote resources to other games. It's the same issue I had with Grabbed by the Ghoulies being selected.
Adam Koralik id like to see an original port of 1/2 because the mcc ports are awful ports of the pc versions. But they are claiming to fix mcc in the spring, so hopefully they get rid of the many bugs in the pc/mcc versions

Adam Koralik Sonic Adventure 1&2 have 360 ports and SA1 is already backwards compatible since September so it's possible.

I suspect that the reason for this is that there will be an end to Xbox live for 360.
Uhhh... what the hell does this have to do with Xbox 360? These are original Xbox games, and the Live servers for those were shut down a long time ago.
David Podjasek.. To passify those that bought the 360 for having OG XBOX b.c. 360 live is still available, but Microsoft won't keep it forever.
I'm not sure what you're saying... Live for 360 is available, and I doubt they will shut it down soon, as not only 360s connect to it, but also all 360 backward compatible multiplayer games. Original Xbox Live servers have already been shut down from everything I have read, and a long time ago at that. Are you saying this is not correct? If you are really suggesting that they created Original Xbox backward compatibility on the One as a way to promote shutting down 360 Live for multiplayer, I still don't have any idea why you are making that connection. One has nothing to do with the other.
Yeah OG Xbox Servers got taken down a long time ago now.
I agree there's no way they're taking down 360 servers down anytime soon, there's still a big population of people on 360 games because some people are still on the original hardware and haven't bought any of the new generations of consoles yet and with 360 compatability a lot of people have come back to playing multiplayer again on the 360.
So with it being so popular I can't see them taking down the servers anytime soon, it would be a terrible move for Microsoft to do it at this point. I can see them running the original servers for quite a long time yet.
He's probably saying that if the xbox 360 servers are shut down, then you won't be able to play original xbox games on the 360 as they won't be able to download the update necessary for one of those games to run. So if those games are now compatible with xbox one, then they are "safe" to shut down the xbox 360 servers in the sense that original xbox backwards compatibility won't be completely lost, because they are available again on the xbox one. Does that make sense?
Xbox one x will eventually play all xbox and xbox 360 games

great vid mate. it is a very cool thing they did, when they didn't have to. despite my utopian dream that we should be able to play all games from all previous systems in the same family, realistically this was a very cool thing to happen, fingers crossed they do a good number more.
its also cool that they're making those games available as purchases on the online store.
and the enhanced resolution is sweet, can't wait to play them on a one X, i'll definitely put off playing all these games again till i can do it on that system.
Yeah, as dumb as it may seem, I'm more interested in the X for this (and 360 benefits) than anything else. :P
Why would you need to install OG Xbox game if your original Xbox still works? What a waste of space on your hard drive.

saves space on your setup and microsoft is apparently making the games look better. And xbox games are pretty tiny it's not much space to use up.
I just played through Ninja Gaiden Black - it looks noticeably better, and runs better than on the OG Xbox. Edit: Plus, they take up peanuts on HDD space so it's a moot point.
The laser in the original Xbox sucks. Plus, if you have a scratched disc that the original Xbox couldn't play now you can play that game regardless of condition.

I got a Question, and hope you can answer, this , I bought Marvel vs cam con 2 on Xbox live, on my xbox360 , can i still transfer that to my new Xbox 1 s ? i don't want to buy a Xbox 1 s if i cant do this ... or i will go another way , marvel vs cam con 2 is on a Xbox disc ...can you please try to make a video on this .. or ask this Question on buying on the xbxo360 and transfer to Xbox 1 s ...thanks
Marvel VS Capcom 2 on the OG XBox is not supported on XBox One at this time.
In the future, if it's added, I don't think there's a way to transfer an old save to the console.
You can transfer 360 game saves to the XBox One, but not original XBox games.
Sents the games are backwards does that mean the orginal xbox server is going to be back online or not
Does make me consider if there is a good deal in the sales getting an Xbox One S instead of a Switch.

Could a scratched OG Xbox disc that would not work properly on OG Xbox work on Xbox One since it only checks if the game has a batch available? In that case I would love to have Republic Commando backwards compatibility since my disc is in bad shape.

There's no emulator you need to download, it's built into each game download. Just put in any supported game and boot it up, it'll take a moment, then ask to "update." That "update" is the console downloading the game.

ok. I am confused. I put my crimison skies in my xbox one (early model) and it told me it couldn't play it. so I clicked on the original xbox compatibility icon on my home page thinking i needed a patch or something. so I clicked it on and I had to purchase crimson skies for 10$ and then download the game. So what the hell am I missing? I had this happen with my 360 games as well. I am not going to pay the play games I already own. I thought this was supposed to be a free service? mind you I only have a silver basic account. am I missing something? !
+Kevin Strade Your Xbox One has disc reading issues. Lift the lift to a 45 degree angle when inserting the disc. Let it load for a second, then place it back down flat as normal. Then attempt to use.

Provided the game is supported in the program, yeah.
Yes! Yesterday was nuts it was my only day off this week. I had to drive to the next county for work however, so I spent half the day game hunting a lot of places. I found a few that are compatible made an educated guess on some likely titles. Don't have any of my original games after moving out.
