  • This is Anne Franks old street in which she used to live. The Frank family moved here in 1934 and lived here until they went into hiding in July 1942. Anne would have wrote in her diary here from her birthday on June 12th 1942 to 8th July 1942. They put this memorial statue of Anne up in 2005.
    I visited here on July 1st 2009.
Thanks for watching! p.s sorry about the video being a bit shaky.

I love that you added the music from 'Anne Frank: The Whole Story'. I was there about two weeks ago and managed to get a few pictures.

@AnneAulisRobin Aw, luckily I went in July last year when it was sunny. I think it's a great tribute, the street is beautiful, thanks for watching :).

This is fascinating - I didn't know the memorial was there! I'm just back from Amsterdam - went to the Anne Frank House, of course. Also saw the small memorial statue of Anne beside the Westerkerk - but did not know about Merwediplein or the memorial there,
I will now have to make a return trip!
    Thanks so much for posting!

What a coincidence - we were probably there on the same day, lol. Can't wait for your next video!

Wow, that was a quick reply! Thanks for the instructions about how to get to Merwedeplein - I've written them down . Incidentally, did you know there is a WAXWORK of Anne in the Amsterdam 'Madame Tussauds'?? It's easy to miss it because it's behind a 'window' - I only noticed it by chance.

Yeah I just went last week monday to thursday for the second time. I saw the anne frank house of course, that memorial outside the westerkerk (i might include that in a new video), and then Merwedeplein. You could have went by tram from the dam sqaure to the waalstraat stop, it was 2.60 euros there and back. Thats why i went again to come and see her original house, Thanks for watching :)

lol guess what I went there as well, I'll include that pic as well in my new video. It was only put up last year in december. By the way the tram you should take is tram 25. Then it's 13 stops after the dam sqaure and then at waalstraat, and a less than 5 min walk south and there you are and you will see the statue straight away. Then walk across the street till you see number 37 and thats annes house. I'll include this footage of her house as well!

I'm going to amsterdam next month. Ive been to the museum many times, but never here. This time i will. I'm getting one of these 72 hour passes that includes train travel from the airport and unlimited tram travel. Does any one know whether one can go that far out to waalstraat with one of those passes?
And does anyone have specific directions from there and are there any nearby bars or pubs?
    thanks

does anyone who has lately been in the prinsengracht know, if the chestnut tree is still there? there was a big debate because it is ill and they wanted to cut it down.

This venerable tree eventually needed to be cut down. Seeds had been collected and distributed to schools and other organizations throughout the world. Beautiful tribute...
