Calendar collections often cover all the dates of cancellation for a single stamp or for a period. For instance the dates of cancellation for Edward VII or Edward VIII reign.

Absolutely. Blocks of 4 are awesome. Blocks with margins, imprint or with sheet numbers. I especially like seeing - Waterlow & Sons Limited, London wall, London, E.C. - it's wonderful eye candy.

Thanks for your comments. Sheila (my wife) doesn't take part in my podcasts now as she is busy doing her own. I hope I am still keeping it interesting.

When your mate asked about purchasing sheets, It brought me back to when I was 10 years old and going to my local post office with a couple of quid in my pocket, from my weekly allowence and asking the post clerk to sell me a 1c green Andrew Jackson plate block of 4, Scott #1209. This was a regular issue from 1963, but still current here in the states in 1967. I aked if he had the top left corner, he pulled out the whole sheet of 100. I started to sweat and my heart was pumping. I never seen a whole sheet before. I said, wait! I want the whole sheet. He said, "That will be one doller please." I smiled and gave him one dollar and .25 cents for the sheet and two pieces of cardboard. When I returned home, I realized that it wouldn't fit in my stockbook. My father placed it in a photo frame and it hung on my bedroom wall for many years.

Great story. There is something about a sheet of stamps but they are so difficult to store and display.
