- #MTGMH3 has been out for a week. Here are the cards making the biggest impact on Modern!
Today's video is brought to you by Card Kingdom. You can pick up some Magic: the Gathering cards (and help support the show) at www.cardkingdom.com/mtggoldfish

Being a week into MH3 and already spoilers are out for assasins creed is wild
Hasbro counting single handedly on WotC to overproduce product so they don't go under.
And releases in 2 weeks 😂
@@jackl8025Problem is there is such a thing as product fatigue, and it's already very obvious a lot of Magic players are experiencing it. Sales have been slowly but steadily dropping for a while now.
Modern getting releases faster than Standard is absurd.
@@jackl8025then Hasbro is in for a financial slump. I don't think I've seen any hype for Assassin's Creed since it started being spoiled
Fun fact theres at least 1 more Theros titan that we haven’t gotten in MTG. Skotha, Titan of Eternal Dark is in the D&D sourcebook for Theros.
Sounds sick, I assume could be Blue black? Like an opposite to Uro (UG) since RB's opposite is Phlage, RW
Maybe obvious answer might be WB too.
Fuck it, five colours.
@@manuelito1233 it is important to note that Phlage was changed from his appearance in the sourcebook. He was renamed from “Titan of Burning Wind” and in the book he’s described as “an all consuming whirlwind of fire” so Skotha, described as “the utter darkness of the starless night”, might not be the exact same.
Not “at least” there are 4 Titans so it’s just the one Titan we are missing.
@@ZakanaHachihaCBC what color do we not get?
@@ToadboyMTGthe titans printed so far are all two colours, so we have all the colours already - Uro (blue green), Kroxa (black red), and Phlage (white red) - but red has been doubled up
Watching all the people who screamed nadu was fine on release all of the sudden get real quiet has been hilarious
According to MTG decks: ugin’s labyrinth is #1.
It’s interesting to see what’s being played & I’m pulling my information straight from the last few modern challenges due to the frequency of events.
Which of the crew said the ETB and recur-able removal piece that is Phlage was unplayable? It was at least one, and the other two weren’t really defending it.
I believe it was Seth or Crim that underselled the card as bad or unplayable.
It was Crim. Seth was high on the card
Watch the new podcast, Richard and Crim ate their words while Seth called it correctly.
it’s basically boros uro. gains you life and card advantage on etb (in this case, removal rather than draw)
In decks that throws spells around at the rate I eat a bag of crisps, of course it'll be fantastic.
Seth getting vindication for calling Phlage good
I really hope that poor bird isn't getting jammed into EVERYTHING xD
I love the new titan. I play him in Brawl on Arena and it is a blast of fun with boros aggro
Sorin is the face commander for my new Orzhov drain commander deck and I actually love it a lot. Not at all a fast deck but it sure can get splashy out of nowhere and win you out of impossible situations! 10/10 would build again
Itbwas
I like to see storm back in the format
How is Nadu a Scam card?
Next set is going to be stronger
the flute a more brutal pithing needle
we’re calling it nadu breakfast now
I can’t beleave that labyrinth is not in the list
believe
Turns out tron is popular but also bad
Is Galvanic Discharge not just a strict upgrade to Harnessed Lightning?
It is.
The Bird is The Word!!!!
no love for Necrodominance? It definitely makes top 10 most impactful cards in Modern. The triple black pips make it only work in decks with lots of black mana, but it really works in those decks.
Nadu and shuko is also great in infect simic
Id very much argue that galvanic discharge is bolt but better, sure you can't hit the opponent in the face with it, which is a big downside, but if you have even just 2 of them they can kill any 2 creatures with up to 6 hp without outside support, if you don't need all 6 damage you can bank some power for other cards, or you can get other cards to feed this and make it a 1 mana delete large targets spell
Naw, the "not being able to hit the opponent in the face with it" aspect is what separates the two.
I know you said yourself that it was a "big" downside, but I don't think it can be understated how MASSIVE of a downside it is (when comparing it to Bolt, I mean).
I know this is modern based, but the new Ral is incredibly OP in commander grixis
I love the bird but it needs to be banned
You can’t say something needs to be banned after one week unless it appears in like 90% of winning decks lol
Modern is really diverse rn
@@togglebott7748stuff has been banned outside of simply too powerful.
If it makes games take forever, such as sensei top.
Is nadu as broken as say tolarian academy? No, but it’s a bananas value engine that is very hard to compete with.
Plus they ban stupid stuff too. Like fury…. And it hardly did much.
@@togglebott7748This didn’t age well…
@@judgedread6553 yeah that bird has got to go. I was very wrong.
For the past few years people keep saying "modern is really diverse right now" even though when MH2 dropped 9/10 most played creatures were all from MH2 🤣🤣 MH sets have truly killed the diversity of the format
I told EVERYONE sorins a monster...people didnt listen and people even listed it the worst of the flip walkers. Dude sorin is such a great lifegain pay off and that 4 toughness is SO important!
do the same video but for pauper
How the hell do you put Nadu in Scam? Scam is a RB and sometimes white deck.
Nadu doesnt give af its free card advantage. Good for any deck
Half of the decks I play against on arena are Nadu and all of them are equipment decks. Y’all need to chill a little
Catherine bates with a beard.
Ita crazy to see cards people told me were unplaynle at the top i remeber reading sorin and thinking it sounded pretty good, but people told me it was too slow for modern playability and phlage sounded pretty neat but again told me why run it when you can just run lightning helix and bolts. Ral as well one of the cheapest flip walkers early in from what i remembered and i thought it sounded so good for stome but peopl kept telling me storm would never even return to teir 1. Glad to see people havent solved the format and still need to actually play it to figure out if something is good
What do you mean cheapest flip walker?
They all cost 1 or 2 mana in this cycle. And all are pretty easy to flip, none are like jump through 17 hoops or anything.
@Morphling92 money wise lol now that everything's being figured out its still pretty high and things like gris are like 7 dollars hoping they go lower seem like fun cards in commander since they can flip later rather than be open targets early
@@jimzh7669 got it. I think they nailed the flip walkers to really appeal to modern decks and commander alike (and maybe even legacy/ vintage).
Same with the flare spells, although I’m pretty bummed cultivation didn’t get instant speed. I don’t think it would’ve broken the card to make it a bit more flexible. But maybe I am missing something.
Bold decision to put disruptor flute over Guide Of Souls which I've seen a billion times more and I think flute is bad lol. I haven't seen it once but tbf I don't play as much. Amped Raptor as well should be on here, Sorin I've seen but haven't seen it be good lol. Good list still though.
How could this list be all wrong? 😂 Nadu in scam, really? No Necrodominance, really?
I think they should ban the whole set of mh3
Hope you're okay. You're throwing your voice so ridiculously that it honestly sounds like it hurts.
Om nom nom nanth
What do you mean "missing titan" there's didn't miss any titan. If you mean the color I'd disagree with you more
Ill likely only use this set to build crazy commander decks, but im very curious about how this level of power creep is gonna effect modern
No Tamiyo?
Highly overrated card. Especially in a non-Brainstorm format.
Why does he talk like that
Nadu is wild
Nadu just seems ridiculously unfun to play against
I’d say they ban it for that and the potentially long and exceedingly complex turns.
Did you target that already? Was it once or twice? Did you reset it? The non deterministic combo potential too.
It seems dreadful and it’s in colors that people already play heinous stuff in.
Dang, I pulled a Ral and a Phlage in my prerelease kit. Lucky me.
Disruptor Flute can affect dash costs ? Like can it prevent the next dashes of Ragavan until 5 mana ? I sure hope so ...
From Gatherer:
To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The mana value of the spell remains unchanged, no matter what the total cost to cast it was.
can anyone help with this ?
I think the flute increases the dash cost as well, as Dash says: you may cast this spell for it's dash cost ...
thanks
You are correct, dash is an alternate cost
No mention of Echoes of Eternity? But it's panharmonicon, I know how you feel about those. I am eagerly waiting for you to put Echos of Eternity to use, pairing it with Glaring Fleshraker is.. pretty fun.
Oh, that voice, so annoying
Seriously, I feel duped when I click the vid. Immediately have to hit pause
